Giants-Jets joint practices: Day 2 live updates
The New York Giants return to East Rutherford for the second day of joint practices with the New York Jets. Today's practices will be hosted by the Giants at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center facility, after spending yesterday at the Jets' facilities at Florham Park. Yesterday's practices were a defensive duel, as both offenses struggled to move the ball against the opposing defense. The Jets' offense got out to a quick start that quickly cooled as Brian Burns and Abdul Carter made life miserable for the Jets' blockers. The Giants, meanwhile, had a shaky offensive performance, but finished strong with touchdowns in team red zone drills. We'll be watching to see if the Giants' offense can rebound after their slow start. Likewise, we'll be looking to see if the defense can build on yesterday's performance. We'll also be on the lookout to see who does, or does not, practice today. The Giants were missing OT Andrew Thomas, OG Evan Neal, WR Malik Nabers, WR Jalin Hyatt, WR Da'Quan Felton, RB Cam Skattebo, and CB Dru Phillips due to injury. We'll be watching to see if any are able to get on the practice field today. Injury updates Not an injury, in fact the opposite: We have another baby Giant! Jermaine Eluemunor is absent for the birth of his second child, which will also bump Marcus Mbow into the starting lineup. Congratulations to the Eluemunor family! In actual injury news, WR Jalin Hyatt, G Evan Neal, and CB Dru Phillips will return to practice. CB Deonte Banks (who left the field late in practice yesterday), and TE Chris Manhertz will not practice. Live updates The teams play a preseason game at MetLife Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m., with the Giants as the home team.

Jets rookie OT Armand Membou thrives in preseason debut vs. the Packers
The New York Jets defeated the Green Bay Packers 30-10 in Saturday's preseason Week 1 contest. It was a fruitful showing for several Jets starters and backups. Rookie offensive tackle Armand Membou was one of the best players on the field. Head coach Aaron Glenn gave Membou an extended look. Justin Fields and the majority of the starting offensive line played 10 total snaps. Membou earned 22 snaps as Coach Glenn awarded him an opportunity to make a longer-lasting impact. He took full advantage. Membou created rushing lanes in the ground game. The former Missouri standout played a clean contest, avoiding being whistled for a penalty. In pass protection, Membou allowed zero sacks or pressures, according to Next Gen Stats. Pro Football Focus awarded Membou a pass-blocking grade of 77.9. The only Jets starters who scored better in pass protection were Alijah Vera-Tucker (79.2) and Joe Tippmann (79.2). The Jets had an effective game in protection, as none of their three quarterbacks were sacked. Membou's debut made him look worthy of the No. 7 overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft. The Jets expect their top-10 pick to be an instant upgrade in the starting lineup at right tackle. Membou's performance in Week 1 of the preseason was incredibly encouraging.

New York Giants' Russell Wilson addresses Malik Nabers' practice absence
New York Giants superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers left practice early last Wednesday and subsequently told reporters that it was a load management decision. Nabers has not returned to the field since he made those comments, missing the team's preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills and the first of two joint practices with the New York Jets. "He's rehabbing, and he's doing everything he can do to get back," head coach Brian Daboll said of Nabers on Tuesday. "I'd say all the guys that are not here practicing are rehabbing and doing everything they can do to get back." Nabers has been dealing with a lingering toe issue since college -- something he admits may eventually require surgery -- and also dinged his shoulder earlier in camp. However, it's unclear which injury, if either, is causing him to sit out. There is some concern that Nabers' practice absence could negatively impact his chemistry with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, but the 10-time Pro Bowler dismissed that notion. "Malik and I have gotten a lot of time together. I trust his work ethic, his ability to get open. Obviously, I've spent a lot of time with him, throwing the football. When he is out there and when he has been, we've been lights out on everything that we've done. I think he's been special for us," Wilson said. In Nabers' absence, Wilson has been provided the opportunity to develop a stronger rapport with other receivers, something he feels will benefit the offense down the line. "I think that you see other guys step up. I thought guys made good plays," he said. "That's what we need. We want to facilitate the ball to the right guy at the right time. We want to be able to do that, and obviously, Malik's a key part to that." Although the Giants act like concern over Nabers' absence is much ado about nothing, each day he misses sounds more and more alarm bells.
