Bengals players respond to schedule backlash
Cincinnati Bengals fans might be mad about certain details on the 2025 NFL schedule, like the fact they have to play the Baltimore Ravens in primetime on the road during a short week yet again.
But it doesn't sound like Bengals players share the same distaste for the 2025 schedule.
Speaking with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, center Ted Karras made sure to go over the positive talking points of the just-released schedule.
"It's an advantageous schedule. I love it. Week 10 bye. Perfect," Karras said. "Nine games before, eight games after. Perfect split. No international games. That's an advantage. The lowest travel miles of any team with (8,753). A chance to get a win in the division right away (at Cleveland in the opener). Love it."

Tight end Mike Gesicki was one of the players hyped about the game on Thanksgiving, too: "I've played on Christmas. I've played on Christmas Eve. But never Thanksgiving. That's cool. That's what everybody wants. A big stage, a lot of people watching, a big game, two really good teams. I don't think the day or night changes the magnitude of the game."
That's certainly one way to look at the Thursday night trip to Baltimore on a short week, especially when considering after that November 27 game, the Bengals don't play again until December 7, a trip to Buffalo.

Justin Fields and Jets' passing game sputter in 2 drives in preseason loss to Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Justin Fields and the New York Jets' passing offense were grounded against the Giants. At least the running game looks ready for the regular season. Fields, signed to a two-year, $40 million deal in the offseason to replace Aaron Rodgers as the Jets' starting quarterback, went just 1 of 5 for 4 yards in two series in their 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants as the starting offense mostly stuck to the ground Saturday night. With Fields running the offense, the Jets ran the ball 13 times for 55 yards — with the quarterback even surpassing his passing total by getting 5 yards on his lone rush. Trailing 7-0 after the Giants scored on their opening drive, the Jets opened their second possession by running 10 straight plays before an incompletion by Fields on third-and-2 to Garrett Wilson — his former college teammate at Ohio State. The Jets settled for a 38-yard field goal by Nick Folk to cap the drive. Fields and all the offensive starters other than rookie right tackle Armand Membou were then done for the night, with Adrian Martinez and the backups taking over. In his preseason debut last Saturday, Fields was 3 of 4 for 42 yards and ran for a 13-yard touchdown to cap a 10-play, 79-yard drive in his lone series against Green Bay. Fields and the Jets' passing offense have been among the team's biggest question marks this summer because they have struggled to produce consistently in training camp. There have also been very few long throws by Fields, with lots of dump-offs and checkdowns. First-year coach Aaron Glenn, though, has insisted that Fields has been developing nicely and doing everything asked of him. Fields has also said focusing on his faith has helped him block out the criticisms that affected him during his first four NFL seasons. But fans who were antsy about the passing offense heading into this game likely won't feel any better now. And with the starters uncertain to play in the preseason finale next Friday night at home against Philadelphia — teams often sit out their first-teamers — Fields and the offense might have to wait to ease those concerns until the regular-season opener on Sept. 7 against Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Things actually got off to a promising start against the Giants with Fields' first pass of the game completed to rookie tight end Mason Taylor. But he threw three straight incompletions to end the drive, leading to a punt. Meanwhile, Martinez was 12 of 21 for 114 yards and an interception before being replaced by Brady Cook in the third quarter. Cook, an undrafted rookie from Missouri, threw a 4-yard TD pass to rookie Quentin Skinner — who made a diving grab — in the fourth quarter. ___ AP NFL:

Now that's how you start a game! The Denver Broncos went 97 yards on their opening drive against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 of NFL preseason on Saturday evening. The four-play drive was capped off by rookie running back RJ Harvey's eight-yard touchdown run: Denver was set up with great field position after back-to-back completions, first a 58-yard pass to tight end Evan Engram, then a 29-yard toss to rookie Pat Bryant. Here's the Engram catch-and-run: The Broncos now lead the Cardinals 7-0 early in the first quarter. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! WATCH: Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia gets mic'd up at practice

It's a year of a lot of new faces for the Ohio State football team in 2025. Not only did the program lose 15 players to the NFL, but it'll also be ushering in a new offensive and defensive coordinator. On the defensive side of the ball, the guy responsible for the culture there will now be former New England Patriots defensive coordinator and Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia. Most of Buckeye Nation has yet to really get to know Patricia other than a few sound bites and comments made during some of the media opportunities, so there's plenty to still learn. To help you get to know one of the new guys on the block, the Ohio State football creative team mic'd him up so you can get a feel for his personality and how he interacts with the players. He has drawn rave reviews so far this year from the coaching staff and players alike, and maybe you too can see why by watching and listening below. Receiving high praise before the season is one thing, and a great start, but it'll mean nothing if the defense doesn't perform in 2025. Something tells me the Buckeyes will be just fine.
