Union cabinet approves Rs 3,653 cr 4-lane Badvel-Nellore highway in Andhra
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the development of a 4-lane highway between Badvel and Nellore in Andhra Pradesh at a total cost of Rs 3,653.10 crore.
The 108.13 km project will connect Badvel-Gopavaram Village (NH-67) to Guruvindapudi (NH-16) and enhance infrastructure and industrial linkages in the state, according to a release statement.
According to the official statement, the greenfield corridor will improve access to key industrial nodes in Andhra Pradesh and reduce the travel distance to Krishnapatnam Port by 33.9 km, from 142 km to 108.13 km.
The Cabinet approved the project on Wednesday, and it is expected to generate over 43 lakh man-days of employment, including 20 lakh direct and 23 lakh indirect man-days.
As per the statement, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Patna on Thursday and conveyed his gratitude for the Cabinet's decision.
"This decision reflects the Prime Minister's unwavering commitment to Andhra Pradesh's development and the vision of empowering states through world-class infrastructure," said Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
The Minister also apprised the Prime Minister of a major political development from the Telugu Desam Party's annual Mahanadu convention, held on Tuesday. At the event, the TDP, under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, unanimously passed a political resolution backing Operation Sindoor and reaffirming its support to PM Modi's leadership.
The statement said that this resolution, introduced by Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu himself at Mahanadu, reflects the TDP's strong alignment with the prime minister's national vision. Minister Ram Mohan Naidu formally communicated this resolution to PM Modi today during his meeting in Patna, assuring the full and unwavering support of the people and government of Andhra Pradesh.

Niva Bupa shares fall 11% as PE investor sells 12% stake in block deal
Shares of Niva Bupa Health Insurance slipped as much as 11.1% on Monday to Rs 82 on the BSE after a large block deal involving a 12% equity stake saw 56.3 lakh shares change hands, as per ETNOW. ADVERTISEMENT Ahead of the trade, on June 1, ET NOW reported, citing sources, that homegrown private equity firm True North and Niva Bupa's Managing Director and CEO, Krishnan Ramachandran, were set to offload a combined 132 million shares in the health insurer through a block deal. ETNOW had also reported that Fettle Tone LLP, an investment vehicle of True North, was expected to sell up to 122 million shares, or roughly 6.7% of Niva Bupa's equity. CEO Krishnan Ramachandran was likely to dilute 10 million shares, equating to around 0.5% of the company. The offer price was set at Rs 82 per share, pegging the total size of the transaction at around Rs 1,082 crore. Based on the latest shareholding pattern as of March-end, the company's promoter Bupa holds 55.98% stake, while True North holds 17.47% via Fettle Tone Bupa reported a 31.2% year-on-year rise in net profit for the March quarter, posting Rs 206 crore compared to Rs 157 crore in the same period last year. Gross premiums increased 18% to Rs 2,078.7 crore, while net premiums climbed 21% to Rs 1,672 the insurer's underwriting profit slipped 12.2% year-on-year to Rs 57.6 crore from Rs 65.6 crore. Operating profit also fell sharply by 43.1% to Rs 94.9 crore from Rs 166.8 crore in the year-ago period. Its solvency ratio stood steady at 3.03% on a sequential basis. Tier II realty sales dip in Q1 but Lucknow bucks trend with 48% value jump
While housing sales across India's top 15 tier 2 cities dropped 8% year-on-year in Q1 2025, Lucknow bucked the trend with a 25% surge in residential unit sales, according to a report by real estate data analytics firm PropEquity. The city recorded 1,301 units sold — the highest growth among tier 2 cities — alongside a 48% jump in sales value to Rs 1,797 crore, driven by strong demand for organized housing, improved infrastructure, and growing employment opportunities. According to the report, Lucknow with 25% increase in number of units sold in Q1 2025 at 1301 units registered the highest growth amongst top 15 tier 2 citiesdhinagar (18%), and Mohali (2%). However, the overall tier 2 market saw a contraction, with sales volume falling to 43,781 units from 47,378 in Q1 2024, even as sales value rose 6% to ₹40,443 crore. Ahmedabad retained its top position in terms of total units sold (14,583 units) and sales value (₹13,565 crore). Western India, including Ahmedabad, Surat, and Gandhinagar, contributed 79% of total units sold and 74% of the overall sales value. State capitals — including Lucknow, Jaipur, Gandhinagar, Bhubaneswar, Goa, and Bhopal — accounted for 25% of all sales and 30% of the total sales value, showing a 17% increase in revenue despite a 5% drop in sales volume. As seen in the table below, the six State Capitals in top 15 tier 2 cities, namely Gandhi Nagar, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Lucknow, Goa and Bhopal, saw 5% decline in sales and 17% increase in sales value, accounting for 25% of sales and 30% of sales value in Q1 2025. Region-wise highlights: Western India, comprising Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Gandhi Nagar, Nashik, Nagpur and Goa, saw 6% decline in number of units sold in Q1, 2025. However, sales value rose by 6% in Q1, 2025. Northern India, comprising Lucknow, Jaipur and Mohali saw 14% decline in number of units sold in Q1, 2025. However, sales value rose by 14% in Q1, 2025. Southern India, comprising Visakhapatnam, Kochi and Coimbatore, saw 12% decline in number of units sold and 1% decline in sales value in Q1, 2025. Central and Eastern India, comprising Bhopal and Bhubaneshwar, saw 18% decline in number of units sold in Q1, 2025. However, sales value remained flat. 'The decline in sales in tier 2 cities in January-March period is in line with trends witnessed in tier 1 cities. However, lesser supply in this quarter resulted in lower sales in tier 2 cities. State Capitals performed relatively better," said Samir Jasuja, Founder and CEO, PropEquity. He added that the dip in transactions is partly due to lower new supply. 'Despite a slowdown in sales volume, demand in tier 2 cities is strong, fueled by infrastructure upgrades, job growth, and falling interest rates. We expect a rebound as banks pass on recent RBI rate cuts.' Nykaa shares drop despite strong Q4 performance
Nykaa parent FSN E-commerce saw shares decline in early trade as Indian market opened with losses on Monday. The counter opened 2% lower at Rs 199 against the previous closing of Rs 203.26 on the BSE. It was trading at Rs 201.26 as of 9:53 am. The beauty and fashion retailer posted strong March quarter numbers last Friday, with nearly doubling to Rs 19 crore. The Mumbai-based company's operating revenue rose 23.6% year-on-year to Rs 2,016.7 crore for the fourth quarter, up from Rs 1,667.9 crore, driven by customer acquisition, brand partnerships, and network expansion. The performance was in line with the company's guidance issued in April, when it projected consolidated net revenue growth in the low to mid-20% range for the March on a sequential basis, Nykaa's Q4 profit declined 29.3% from Rs 26.9 crore reported in the previous quarter. Nykaa's beauty vertical, which contributes over 90% of the company's total revenue, posted a 24.7% YoY increase to Rs 1,895 crore from Rs 1,519 crore. The fashion segment saw muted growth, rising 11% to Rs 161 crore from Rs 145 crore, with gross merchandise value (GMV) growing 18% year-on-year. For the full fiscal year, Nykaa reported a consolidated gross merchandise value (GMV) – total value of goods sold across its platforms – of Rs 15,604 crore, a 25% increase from the previous year. Nykaa currently serves 42 million customers and operates 237 offline stores across India, offering products from over 8,600 brands. In FY25 alone, the company added around 50 stores — its highest annual addition to date."While BPC segment continues to deliver healthy growth with better profitability, revival in fashion business remains a key monitorable, given the heightened competitive intensity across the industry," said brokerages house Nuvama in a note on Monday. Nuvama analysts continue to expect improvement in profitability on the back of lower losses in fashion and eB2B segment.
