Alabama track star wins national championship, breaks NCAA record
After men's runner Samuel Ogazi won a title Friday night, another member of the Alabama Crimson Tide track and field team has won a national championship.
That national title winning runner is Doris Lemngole, who captured a championship yet again Saturday night in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Lemngole joins Ogazi as outdoor national champions from Alabama in 2025, as the men's star won it all in the 400-meter.
To win the national championship, Lemngole finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.15, which was a noteworthy mark as well. That is because Lemngole broke the collegiate record in the event, a mark which was previously held by herself.
With the result, Lemngole also goes back-to-back in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, defending her national title.
The Alabama star was also the 2024 cross country national champion, as well as the 2025 indoor 5,000-meter national champion.

Tennessee left-handed pitcher to enter transfer portal Tennessee left-handed pitcher Dylan Loy entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Ben McKee of 247Sports. Loy (4-0) appeared in 33 games, including one start, for the Vols during the 2025 campaign. The 6-foot, 208-pound sophomore recorded 36 strikeouts, two saves and a 3.97 ERA in 34.0 innings. He allowed 22 hits, seven home runs, 17 runs (15 earned), 11 walks, three wild pitches and hit three batters. From 2024-25, Loy (6-0) appeared in 54 games, including six starts, for the Vols. He totaled 73 strikeouts and a 3.22 ERA in 64.1 innings. Loy's career-high for innings pitched in game was 4.2 against LSU on May 26, 2024. Trio of Duke basketball prospects earn NBA draft superlatives The 2025 NBA draft is nearly here, and several Duke Blue Devils will hear their name called as they make the jump to the professional ranks. Cooper Flagg isn't their only top prospect, as Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach are also elite prospects. ESPN's Jeremy Woo recently came up with 20 superlatives for the class, and all three Blue Devils were named. They were the only school with three players winning a superlative. Up first for Duke was Knueppel, whom he labelled as the "best spot-up shooter." Knueppel showed his impressive shooting ability throughout his freshman season, making 40.6% of his three-pointers on 5.3 attempts per game. That shooting is why he is expected to be a top 10 pick and immediately help an offense space the floor. Flagg, Woo's No. 1 overall prospect, was named the "best competitor." According to Woo, competitiveness is the "special quality" that allows Flagg to separate himself from the rest of the players in his class. Flagg repeatedly showed his fire throughout the season as he led Duke to the Final Four and led them in every major offensive category. Woo believes that Maluach has the "best intangibles" of the class and that his "character" has allowed him to go from a "project into a top prospect in a short period of time." Maluach is expected to be among the first centers taken in the draft after averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks last season. At 7-foot-2, he is an excellent shot blocker and will immediately help a team's defense.
