A PASSENGER was "sliced open" when a waterside shattered onboard an enormous cruise ship.
A section of slide in the Icon of the Seas' record-breaking waterpark burst just as a child was shooting down it, according to eyewitness accounts.

One passenger reported that the kid's "leg and back were cut open pretty bad" by the dangerous malfunction on Thursday.
Footage shows water cascading from the slide down onto the deck.
And a photo taken after the water stopped reveals a jagged hole cut out from one of the panels.
The casualty's exact condition is unknown.
Icon of the Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean, is currently en route to Coco Cay, Bahamas, having departed from the Virgin Islands on Wednesday.
Its waterslides are made of glass-fibre-reinforced plastic, according to Wiegand Waterrides.
In a statement, the cruise ship said: 'Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide.
"The guest is being treated for his injuries. The water slide is closed for the remainder of the sailing pending an investigation.'
The Icon of the Seas is a colossal cruise ship with the world's largest at-sea waterpark, called Thrill Island.
It features six massive slides, including the Frightening Bolt, Pressure Drop, Storm Chasers, Hurricane Hunter and Storm Surge.

Brit dad, 54, dies in moped crash on ‘dream' holiday in Corfu just two years after wife's death as family pay tribute

HOLIDAY TRAGEDY Brit dad, 54, dies in moped crash on 'dream' holiday in Corfu just two years after wife's death as family pay tribute A BELOVED British dad has died in a freak accident while enjoying a dream family holiday in Greece. Craig Bloomer, 54, was on the idyllic island of Corfu with his two daughters, their partners and children when tragedy struck. 3 Craig Bloomer tragically died in a moped crash while on holiday in Greece 3 The Brit dad, 54, lost control of the vehicle and died after being rushed to hospital Credit: GoFundMe Craig, from Wolverhampton, lost control of the moped he was riding near the village of Agios Mattheos on July 26 and crashed. The much-loved café owner – described by his daughter as the 'happiest' he had been since losing his wife Jane, 53, to cancer two years ago – was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead by doctors. His eldest daughter Rebecca, 32, said: 'Our dad's loss has left a massive hole in our lives. We lost our mum two years ago to cancer. 'Since then, he has been a bit down in the dumps. On holiday, it was the happiest I'd ever seen him, he had a new girlfriend. 'He was lovely and a proper family man.' Craig, who ran The Cafe in Low Hill alongside daughters Rebecca and Danni Perks, 27, was remembered as a big character in the community. Rebecca said: 'The amount of tributes we've had off people for dad, saying how lovely he was and what a character he was. 'He was like marmite, you either loved him or hated him – and most people loved him.' The devastated family had to cut their trip short following the tragedy, returning home on July 29. Craig's body was flown back to the UK on Wednesday, allowing preparations for his funeral to begin. A GoFundMe page to help the grieving relatives to cover costs has already raised more than £3,000. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the former Coronation Street star said: "Friends are the family you chose! "Thank you so much to everyone who has checked in today to see how I am when I needed you the most! I love you all! "Those that haven't… you know who you are!" Yesterday, a heartbroken Kym revealed the sad news that she was saying goodbye to her cousin Carl. The actress and singer took to Instagram to reveal her devastation. She wrote: "I can't believe I'm writing this. Today our family say goodbye to Carl. My cousin. A legend to all who knew him. "A light turned out far too soon. A huge hole in our lives that will never be filled. Sometimes life makes no sense. There are times when you just can't understand how such cruel things happen, to good honest people. "This is one of those times. Carl was the kindest, funniest, most unique person I've ever known. The memories I have of us growing up, the camping holidays with the fam, the laughs, your silliness, your loyalty." Kym called him "one of a kind" and said she would miss him "until the end of time". Coronation Street star Frank Grimes dies aged 78 as tributes paid to 'one of Ireland's greatest actors' She continued: "And I know you would be telling me to stop being a silly a**e and stop crying, and that you would want me to be where I am doing what I'm doing. Doesn't stop me wishing I was there, or thinking of my family today, or grieving, or wishing I could make this better for everyone. "I know that the family will give you the best send off cuz and that they will do you proud. We will love you forever and always. Good night god bless my wonderful cousin. Sleep tight." The news came after her onscreen father in Coronation Street, Frank Grimes, also passed away. Kym, who played Michelle Connor in the soap, starred opposite the screen veteran during his time on the cobbles. It's understood that Frank, who played Barry Connor in Corrie over 50 episodes, passed away in the early hours of Friday, August 1, surrounded by his family. The Dublin born star was well-respected for his work both in Ireland and in the UK. And announcing his passing, the Irish Cultural Centre in London said Grimes was "one of Ireland's greatest actors." In a tribute, they said he was "so warm hearted, full of Dublin wit and charm in abundance and he had a beautiful sparkle in his eyes." They continued: "We know that Ireland has lost one of its truly great actors, the vintage of which is so rare and may never ever be matched again. "We are so sad to have to say goodbye to Frank, but we are also so blessed to have known him, to have worked with him and seen him perform. "We send our sincere condolences to his wife Ginnette, his daughter Tilly, his son Andrew, his 7 grandchildren and to all his extended family. "We also send our condolences to all of Frank's friends and loved ones - May Frank sleep easy now and Rest In Peace."

The former Rangers, Celtic and other SPFL stars hoping to help Championship side Wrexham get to the Premier League

THERE is a lot of hype around Wrexham as they begin their first English Championship season in over 40 years. Supporters of the Welsh club are dreaming of a fourth successive promotion, backed by Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. 7 Wrexham won the League One Championship last season Credit: Getty 7 Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney own the club Credit: Getty On Saturday, they kick off their quest for the English Premier League promised land, with a trip to Southampton who were relegated from the top tier last season. And there will be five former SPFL players who will be looking to bring them more success. 7 Danny Ward enjoyed his time at Aberdeen Credit: Reuters GK - Danny Ward, Aberdeen International Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward is back where it all began for him after returning to the Racecourse this summer. The experienced shot-stopper has 44 caps for his country and has played at Euro 2016, 2020 and the World Cup in 2022. The 32-year-old caught the attention of Liverpool when he was a teenager and signed for them in 2012. During that time he had a loan spell at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in 2015. Ward enjoyed his six-month spell at Pittodrie, helping them to eight successive league wins and picked up 12 cleansheets in 29 appearances for Derek McInnes' side. But his stint was cut short after Jurgen Klopp recalled him from his loan due to a goalkeeping crisis at Anfield. He has always had a soft spot for the Dons since then and signed off with a message to the fans saying "Once a Don, always a Don". 7 O'Coinnell played for Celtic in the Champions League Credit: Kenny Ramsay - The Sun Glasgow CB - Eoghan O'Connell, Celtic The 29-year-old has played a pivotal part in Wrexham's rise to the Championship having been involved in all three consecutive promotions. Before the Hollywood fairytale began for O'Connell though he learned his trade at the Hoops. Celebrity Wrexham owner spotted in retro Celtic strip as he asks 'are they Catholics or Protestants' There were high hopes for the Irish defender who was awarded the Celtic youth academy Player of the Year. He made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Ross County in 2014. O'Connell experienced the Champions League with Celtic, coming on in the Nou Camp in the 7-0 defeat against Barcelona in 2016. O'Connell struggled for game time with Celtic and made just 13 appearances. He was loaned out to Cork City and Walsall before leaving for Bury in 2017. He later signed for Rochdale and Charlton before making the switch to Wrexham in 2023. 7 Josh Windass in action for Rangers Credit: Willie Vass - The Sun Glasgow AMC/ST - Josh Windass, Rangers Another summer signing arriving from Sheffield Wednesday after an impressive spell with the Owls. He became their top goalscorer this century after scoring 53 goals including a goal against Derby from inside his own half. A player who could always produce moments of brilliance but was never far away from controversy like his time at Rangers showed. Windass spent two seasons in Scotland and later admitted he regretted the way he departed Ibrox after joining English Championship side Wigan in 2018. 7 19/08/17 Rangers v Hearts. Also had loan spells at Raith Rovers, St Mirren and Livingston whilst at Ibrox. Never managed to fully cement his place in the Rangers first team and left permanently to sign for Blackpool in 2019. Famously scored a penalty for Plymouth to knock Liverpool out of the FA Cup last season and has reached double figures for goals in each of his last four campaigns. 7 Jay Rodriguez had a loan spell at Stirling Albion in 2008 Credit: Michael Schofield - The Sun Glasgow ST - Jay Rodriguez, Stirling Albion Played at the highest levels of the professional game with more than 250 Premier League appearances and an England cap. But his career started out in the more modest surroundings at Forthbank when it he was loaned out by Burnley when Owen Coyle was boss. Stirling Albion were in the old First Division in 2008 and Rodriguez was just 18 at the time. He made his first appearance for the Binos against Celtic in the Scottish Cup. He scored three times during his loan spell before his high-flying career took off with a multi-million pound move to Southampton a few years later.
