Man United learn price of goalkeeper target Marco Carnesecchi

Manchester United have reportedly learnt that it would cost them between €45-50 million to land Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
It was reported yesterday that Ruben Amorim considers current number one Andre Onana a key player at the club.

Nonetheless, there have also been significant reports suggesting the Portuguese coach is keen to replace the Cameroonian keeper after another less than convincing season between the posts.
The Red Devils have recently been linked to experienced keepers like Emiliano Martinez and Marc-André ter Stegen to replace Onana in goal.
Recent reports indicate that the club also have Italian Carnesecchi on their radar after his impressive displays in Italy.
TuttoAtalanta now report that the Serie A club would expect between €45-50 million to sell their number one this summer.
The Italian site claims that United are fed up with Onana's inconsistencies and see the Atalanta star as 'the first choice' to begin a new era at the club.

'Carnesecchi is considered a pillar of the Bergamo team' but a significant offer could certainly change Atalanta's resistance to hold onto him.
It is reported that were United to make a 'concrete offer' in the previously mentioned ballpark figure, Atalanta would seriously consider doing a deal.
What's more, as Carnesecchi is a product of their youth team, a €45 million fee would be a huge financial gain for La Dea.
Another factor that could help move the deal along is 'the excellent harmony between Atalanta and Manchester United'. The two sides have built up strong ties after United's purchases of Amad and Rasmus Hojlund in recent years.

The 24 year old played 45 games in all competitions last year, conceding just 45 goals in total. He also kept an impressive 18 clean sheets, including five in the Champions League.

Roma not aiming for Serie A title 'but you never know', says Gasperini

Gian Piero Gasperini said Tuesday he does not expect Roma can challenge for the Serie A title in his first season after leaving Atalanta "but you never know". The 67-year-old has replaced local hero Claudio Ranieri in the Roma dugout and is gunning for a first top-four finish since 2018. Advertisement "Our best result would be Champions League qualification. Right now Roma can't win the Scudetto but you never know," Gasperini told reporters. "My goal is to make this team better... create a strong core group of players who can give us consistency, and form the basis into which the following season you can add more players who raise the level. That's the first thing I'm aiming for." Gasperini turned Bergamo club Atalanta from provincial also-rans in the shadow of the Milan giants down the road to one of Italy's best teams and even Europa League winners last year. He signed a three-year contract with Roma, one of Italy's biggest clubs with a large and passionate support but who have only won Serie A three times, the last coming exactly 24 years ago on Tuesday. Advertisement They have been overtaken by fierce rivals Napoli whose recent Scudetto triumph took their tally to four, and two in the past three seasons. Roma finished fifth last season and missed out on the Champions League on the final day of the campaign after Ranieri came out of retirement to drag them away from near the relegation places. Gasperini chose Roma over Juventus who tried to convince him to move to Turin after failing to snatch club icon Antonio Conte from Napoli. - Roma changes - Ranieri will work alongside Gasperini and Roma's American owners the Friedkin Group, and he confirmed to reporters that sporting director Florent Ghisolfi will be replaced. Advertisement "The club is assessing a few names, you will know as soon as possible the next sporting director," said Ranieri. Gasperini is a spiky character prone to angry outbursts at journalists and he will have to deal with both an expectant, highly-strung fan base and an intense media environment in the Italian capital. There are a slew of radio stations, websites and even a daily newspaper entirely dedicated to Roma, which have caused bust-ups with previous coaches and can create enormous pressure if results are not good. "Ever since I arrived people have been warning me about the atmosphere here in Rome, that it's a difficult place to obtain yor goals, football-wise, for a whole different range of reasons," said Gasperini. Advertisement "I believe that this should be a strength rather than a weakness. There are a lot of you, and then people talk about the radio stations and the pressure. "What I see is great enthusiasm, a great passion for football and a huge desire to reach certain goals. I think all that energy needs to be channelled in the right direction." Roma begin their first Serie A season under Gasperini with the visit of Bologna, currently scheduled for Sunday August 24, while the first Rome derby of the season comes in the fourth week of the campaign. td/ea

Alfredo Pedulla Confirms Inter Milan & Italy Star Is ‘Napoli's First Choice'

Alfredo Pedulla took stock of the future of Inter Milan ace Davide Frattesi amid talks linking him with a shock move to Napoli. Speaking to The Italian Football Podcast, Pedulla confirmed Napoli's interest in the 25-year-old. Advertisement Davide Frattesi seemed destined to leave the San Siro in January. However, Inter blocked his transfer to Roma by slapping a prohibitive €50 million price tag on his shoulders. Despite denying him a chance to leave, ex-manager Simone Inzaghi rarely played the former Sassuolo midfielder. Therefore, a lack of first-team opportunities only strengthened Frattesi's desire to find a new club. Yet, with Inzaghi out of the picture, the situation could change. Indeed, Cristian Chivu could resurrect Frattesi's career at Inter, especially now that Hakan Calhanoglu is thinking of departing the club. Moreover, the Italian star could have a prominent role at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Advertisement That could determine his future in Lombardy. On the other hand, Napoli boss Antonio Conte is contemplating offering Frattesi an escape route from the San Siro. (Photo by) 'Frattesi is Napoli's first choice,' Pedulla stated. 'With the new Inter management, without Simone Inzaghi, I believe that Frattesi will not push as hard as before to leave. 'Before he played little, he came in, scored, but rarely started. Roma had tried seriously, he was a Roma fan or at least tied to Roma. 'Inter had asked for fifty million in January, fifty because they didn't want to sell him. Advertisement 'It was a price set to push away the interested clubs. Now that there is Chivu and there is no longer Inzaghi, I think that before going, he will think about it. 'But then Inter are not able to lose Calhanoglu, Frattesi, and another two. 'Inter will probably do a little re-styling, but they can't sell everyone. Because then it would become very complicated for a new coach who has arrived to a completely new team.'

Darwin Nunez has been a long-term transfer target for Antonio Conte's Napoli, who remain confident of striking a deal with Liverpool for a fee below the €50m mark, Football Italia understands. Napoli confident of Darwin Nunez for less than €50m Napoli have been targeting a move for Darwin for well over a month, dating back to the beginning of May, although it is understood that there had been discussions over the possibility of a move even earlier. Advertisement The Uruguay international has already given his openness to a move away from Anfield this summer, and Napoli remain confident that they will be able to get a deal done for a fee below the €50m mark, despite Liverpool having spent over €75m to bring him in from Benfica two years ago. That is despite recent reports linking him with a move to Serie A rivals Milan. The club are also aware that negotiations with Liverpool will not be particularly straight forwards, although Napoli remain happy to play the long game as things stand. Napoli also have alternative options lined up for their attacking department, including Italy international Lorenzo Lucca, whose move from Udinese remains on hold as things stand.
