Now, Samantha's Emmerdale star boyfriend Oliver Farnworth is the one making waves in the soap world.
So much so, that the actress admits she actually gets warned about her boyfriend when she's out and about, because he plays the role of a serial killer.
Oliver plays the role of Emmerdale killer John Sugden on the long-running soap, and he's been up to all sorts of dastardly deeds since arriving in the village.
Sharing an insight into her relationship with Emmerdale's prolific murderer, Samantha told The Sun: 'I do get warned about him.
'But Oli is actually so strict about confidentiality. So he comes back every few days and he won't tell me what's happening with anything.
'He's like 'I just can't let you know,' and I'll say 'come on I'm not going to tell anybody.'
'But I really think this is one of his favourite jobs to date. I visited the set and it's beautiful. They have rolling hills and cute cottages. It's very different to EastEnders.
'And what is funny is he gets a lot of attention when he goes up north, but when we go down south everyone knows me from EastEnders so it changes where we go.'
Samantha Womack discuss the importance of finding out breast density
Samantha and Oliver live in Spain together, after first growing close in 2019 while working on The Girl on the Train.
The star recently admitted to feeling 'rejected' by EastEnders boss Sean O'Connor, as she admitted that it was not her decision to leave.
She told The Mail: "It was really hard for us because it wasn't in our hands. We didn't make the decision to go.
"I don't really understand what happened, one producer was leaving and another was coming in, I don't know what went on."
Before her time on the soap, Samantha, 52, represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.
However, she admitted that leaving Walford took a toll on her, as she felt like she was losing 'a family.'
The actress told the publication: "At the time it felt like bereavement, it felt like losing a family member. It was like losing family and losing stability.
"But the thing that was the most painful - and it really was painful - was that me and Rita loved feeling like we belonged there.
"Then to be rejected, and I know that's emotional but that's what it was, it hit us both so hard."
However, the star admitted that she is now thankful to events in hindsight as it allowed her to do other things.

Emmerdale star ‘torn' over future of engaged couple as a secret looms large
Emmerdale's Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) currently has no idea boyfriend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is hiding a huge secret from her in Emmerdale. A few weeks ago, Vinny and friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) spent the day together. Vinny then got caught up in a moment and tried to kiss his friend, a move that left both of them surprised. In the aftermath, Vinny has tried his best to ignore his confusion and doubt in his mind. Wanting to help, Kammy has attempted to get Vinny to talk about it and his sexuality, but he's continuously shut his friend down. Vinny ignoring it all in the lead up to the engagement party has left Gabby none the wiser. Given this is a soap though, there will always be the possibility of Gabby discovering how Vinny really feels. And given Gabby's history when it comes to relationships, it's left star Rosie Bentham feeling sorry for her alter-ego. 'I just think 'Poor Gabby.' It would really, really rock her. I think because she's been through it before she would probably just give up', she told us recently. 'I think she has more of an understanding relationship with Vinny. The one with Nicky was a very vindictive plan. He was never interested in Gabby, really. It was more of a superficial, surface-level romance with Nicky and she got swept away and the engagement happened so quickly.' 'Whereas with this we do see a lot more of their home life. So I think this one would hit even deeper because it is someone that she genuinely has feelings for and has developed a very strong connection with. I obviously don't know where this story is going but I think Gabby could possibly end up being supportive of Vinny. Not in the sense of letting him go off and do whatever he wants. She added: 'They started out as best mates and they'll always have that underlying love for each other whether it's romantic or not. I think if Vinny is questioning things and really struggling, some communication needs to happen. 'But this stuff with Kammy, I don't know how it would be initially received. I can imagine Gabby feeling really let down and this big wedding and everything she's expecting to happen, moving in together and him being such a father figure to Thomas – if that came crashing down I think she would really struggle.' Rosie pondered over the upcoming wedding, noting that if Vinny was open with Gabby, their relationship may not completely fall apart. More Trending 'I'm really torn because I think it depends on Vinny and how he goes about it, because Gabby's not horrible. If he was to sit down and have an honest conversation with her, then I don't know. I don't think she could go through with having a ring on her finger for the rest of her life having that doubt because it touches a nerve too deep, considering it's happened before. She's basically following in her mum's footsteps, because I think Bernice married a few gay men. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? 'With Nicky, he and Caleb had a plan, they had an agenda. Whereas this… It would be nice to see Gabby being there for him as a friend and help him with his confusion, but I reckon for her own sake and her own future she'll probably have to take a big step back. Because at the end of the day she does want a secure family and she does want that picture-perfect home. They can't start a wedding off ready for disaster straight away. So we'll see.' The star continued: 'You've got to go into a wedding day with full clarity. If Gabby doesn't find out, and finds out after, I think it could be quite disastrous. Vinny could be more open with his friends, he's got a good relationship with Kammy now so Kammy will encourage him to get his head straight. Coronation Street confirms unexpected flashback twist as the past is revisited
There's a huge mystery in upcoming Coronation Street episodes. Why did Gary Windass (Mikey North) end up in a coma in hospital after apparently vanishing into thin air? And why does the woman who's with him insist his name is Chesney? And does Gary's current predicament have anything to do with the night of Aadi (Adam Hussain)'s party, when Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer (Harriet Bibby) became convinced they'd seen a dead body? Maria (Samia Longchambon) has been going frantic with worry, not having heard from Gary since he headed off wanting to put some space between them after a series of arguments. The arguments were mainly about Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty). Maria was furious that Gary seemed to be spending so much time with the woman whose husband killed Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). She didn't trust Lou's motives and thought she was exploiting Gary's kindness. And the more Maria objected to Gary seeing Lou, the more he pushed back. Since he left Maria has hardly heard from him, and when he doesn't get in touch on Liam (Charlie Wrenshall)'s birthday she's convinced something bad has happened to him. She reports him as a missing person. Nina overhears Maria saying that there haven't been any transactions on Gary's bank account since June 23 – which was the night of the party. She tells Summer what she's learned and worries that it was Gary they saw that night when they were high on drugs. Summer reminds her that there were no reports of an assault and when they went back to look there was no trace of Gary or anyone else. Then we see Gary, unconscious in hospital. A nurse assures his visitor that 'Chesney' is making progress. More Trending And when DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) contacts the hospital about the unidentified coma patient who's been admitted, a staff member says that the person on their ward is called Chesney. Kit is satisfied it's not Gary and reports back to Maria, reassuring her that they're doing all they can to find him.
