Emmerdale star ‘torn' over future of engaged couple as a secret looms large

Metro13 hours ago
Emmerdale's Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) currently has no idea boyfriend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is hiding a huge secret from her in Emmerdale.
A few weeks ago, Vinny and friend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) spent the day together. Vinny then got caught up in a moment and tried to kiss his friend, a move that left both of them surprised.
In the aftermath, Vinny has tried his best to ignore his confusion and doubt in his mind. Wanting to help, Kammy has attempted to get Vinny to talk about it and his sexuality, but he's continuously shut his friend down.
Vinny ignoring it all in the lead up to the engagement party has left Gabby none the wiser. Given this is a soap though, there will always be the possibility of Gabby discovering how Vinny really feels.
And given Gabby's history when it comes to relationships, it's left star Rosie Bentham feeling sorry for her alter-ego.
'I just think 'Poor Gabby.' It would really, really rock her. I think because she's been through it before she would probably just give up', she told us recently.
'I think she has more of an understanding relationship with Vinny. The one with Nicky was a very vindictive plan. He was never interested in Gabby, really. It was more of a superficial, surface-level romance with Nicky and she got swept away and the engagement happened so quickly.'
'Whereas with this we do see a lot more of their home life. So I think this one would hit even deeper because it is someone that she genuinely has feelings for and has developed a very strong connection with. I obviously don't know where this story is going but I think Gabby could possibly end up being supportive of Vinny. Not in the sense of letting him go off and do whatever he wants.
She added: 'They started out as best mates and they'll always have that underlying love for each other whether it's romantic or not. I think if Vinny is questioning things and really struggling, some communication needs to happen.
'But this stuff with Kammy, I don't know how it would be initially received. I can imagine Gabby feeling really let down and this big wedding and everything she's expecting to happen, moving in together and him being such a father figure to Thomas – if that came crashing down I think she would really struggle.'
Rosie pondered over the upcoming wedding, noting that if Vinny was open with Gabby, their relationship may not completely fall apart. More Trending
'I'm really torn because I think it depends on Vinny and how he goes about it, because Gabby's not horrible. If he was to sit down and have an honest conversation with her, then I don't know. I don't think she could go through with having a ring on her finger for the rest of her life having that doubt because it touches a nerve too deep, considering it's happened before. She's basically following in her mum's footsteps, because I think Bernice married a few gay men.

'With Nicky, he and Caleb had a plan, they had an agenda. Whereas this… It would be nice to see Gabby being there for him as a friend and help him with his confusion, but I reckon for her own sake and her own future she'll probably have to take a big step back. Because at the end of the day she does want a secure family and she does want that picture-perfect home. They can't start a wedding off ready for disaster straight away. So we'll see.'
The star continued: 'You've got to go into a wedding day with full clarity. If Gabby doesn't find out, and finds out after, I think it could be quite disastrous. Vinny could be more open with his friends, he's got a good relationship with Kammy now so Kammy will encourage him to get his head straight.

When is EastEnders on this week? BBC schedule twist confirmed

EastEnders fans may be very confused by this week's BBC schedules. Once again, the hit soap has been shunted to one side for sports coverage – with tonight's episode replaced by Wimbledon. Tomorrow, Match of the Day Live will follow Poland v Sweden in the Women's Euro 2025 tournament. ‘Miss you' - Emmerdale star responds to Beth Cordingly as fans call for reunion

Former Emmerdale star Lewis Cope has been missing the joy that comes with working with Beth Cordingly. Lewis portrayed the role of Nicky Miligan from 2022-2024. He was initially introduced as a new nanny for the children at Home Farm. As time ticked on though, we discovered Nicky had an ulterior motive while working under Kim Tate's (Claire King) roof. It was confirmed he's the son of Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and the two of them were working together to destroy Kim and Home Farm. With Caleb being the son of Frank Tate, he believed he was entitled to everything that Kim owned. His plan proved the new character was utterly ruthless, as he forced Nicky to go ahead with wedding prep for him and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), despite knowing he was gay. Life for Caleb and Nicky got even more complicated when Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly), Nicky's mum, arrived. At the time, Caleb and Ruby were in the process of getting a divorce, but Ruby struggled to accept their relationship was close to ending for good. Nicky departed the village last year alongside his new boyfriend. The dynamic between him and his parents completely crumbled when he learnt of Ruby's involvement in Ethan Anderson's death, and Caleb's attempt to cover it up. With the Miligan clan still at the centre of the drama in the village, plenty of fans are still hoping Nicky will return. And Lewis Cope is certainly missing life in the Dales, in particular seeing his co-star Beth Cordingly. Recently, Beth shared a video of her in Brighton. She is dressed in a scarf and two rubber rings as she wanders down one of the coastal roads. The clip has made plenty of her followers laugh including Lewis, who shared a 'Bonkers! Miss you x', message in the comments section. Ruby and Caleb's other child, Steph (Georgia Jay), arrived in the village towards the end of last year.
