Gabby Allen says she 'might never have walked again' after surgery

The Love Island All Stars winner, 33, opened up about the potentially debilitating condition in an interview with This Morning Gabby Allen has lifted the lid on a frightening health ordeal she faced during her childhood years. The Love Island All Stars winner, 33, said doctors even feared she'd never walk again amid the potentially debilitating diagnosis. "I was around 11 or 12 years old," she told presenters on ITV's This Morning. "I was actually on holiday and my dad was teaching me how to dive, and my mum was like, 'Wait a minute, she's a bit wonky.' And then, straight away when we got home, they took me to the doctors." ‌ Gabby was soon diagnosed with scoliosis, a condition that causes the spine to twist or curve sideways. While this may be noticeable externally, other signs can include uneven shoulders, ill-fitting clothes, and a rib or hip protruding on one side. ‌ The NHS explains that scoliosis can affect people at any age, although it most commonly occurs in children aged 10 to 15. Treatment isn't always necessary, but Gabby was quickly urged to undergo surgery as her condition was progressing rapidly. "And within a few months, I was already on the operating table because it was growing so quickly," Gabby continued, to which presenter Rochelle Humes said: "At one point, you thought, or you were told, that you might not ever walk again... That is quite something to hear." ‌ Gabby then replied: "I think as a young girl, the scariest thing for me was that I was never going to dance again. It was like, 'It doesn't matter about walking, I need to be able to dance,' because that's what I wanted to do. "So, I wasn't told much information before going in, obviously my parents didn't want to scare me, but yeah. It is a 10-hour operation, well, the one that I had was, and they diffused my whole spine from top to bottom. "I've got rods through the whole spine, nuts and bolts and everything. And you have to sign a form saying that, you know, there's a chance that you might not be able to walk again. ‌ "I did have to learn how to walk again, but within six months, I was dancing. I won ballet competitions, like nine months later. So, I think that is what built my resilience to be where I am now with, like strength training." Gabby has previously mentioned that enrolling in a personal training course was a 'turning point' in her life after enduring a long stretch of self-destructive behaviour. Unfortunately, this change came after her father died only two weeks before her 21st birthday. ‌ According to the Mirror, she wrote in a 2024 Instagram post: "I used to go through a cycle of binge eating and starving. I used to obsessively count and allow myself very low calories, then get so hungry I'd binge on SH***. "I used to do fad diets like juice plus and then binge again. I used to go out and drink four bottles of wine, eat a Chinese on the way home, then have a fry-up the next day and not move a muscle. I was miserable, I lacked structure, motivation, discipline and drive." However, she later added: "Fast-forward seven years, I am still a work in progress but I have come a long way. Building strength in my body is the driving force in my life. It makes me feel strong inside and out and I couldn't do without it."

Love Island's Gabby Allen puts on a busty display in a plunging red dress as she enjoys night out after Casey O'Gorman split

She is newly-single after her split from Casey O'Gorman. And Gabby Allen was well and truly getting herself back out there as she hit the town this weekend in a busty red dress. The Love Islander, 33, - who won the All Stars series earlier this year with Casey - looked incredible in the sexy number as she posed up a storm for new Instagram snaps. She boosted her height with gold heels and accessorised with statement earrings while at a swanky bar in London. Gabby penned in the caption: 'I never usually wear red, but I do love this dress.. what do you think?' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. It comes after last week the real reason behind Gabby and Casey's break-up was revealed. The Love Island stars won the £50,000 cash prize on All Stars in February but split just three months later, deciding they are better off as friends. Now, an insight has been given into the reason behind their split in resurfaced comments made by Gabby mere days before they went their separate ways. The fitness influencer admitted she didn't have 'time' for a boyfriend and told how she was adjusting to making time for Casey, 28, after leaving the villa. Speaking to the Mirror at the BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday, just two days before their split was made public, Gabby said: 'I have two businesses so I have to like try and juggle that. 'Which I don't have time to bl**dy see anyone, let alone have a boyfriend.' 'You have to make time because otherwise you end up not seeing each other for a week,' she added. 'Like when we do see each other, we just wanna like snog and stuff and not be on camera!' News of the couple's separation emerged at the start of this month with the pair confirming that they remained on 'amicable' terms. In a joint statement, their reps told MailOnline: 'After much thoughtful consideration, Gabby and Casey have decided to go their separate ways romantically. 'This decision was mutual, and they both remain on good terms as friends with a shared respect for each other.' Gabby's rep added: 'Gabby is grateful for the memories they've created together and wishes Casey nothing but the best as they both move forward on their individual journeys. 'She's excited for what the future holds and appreciates.' The split came as a surprise to fans as Gabby was seen supporting Casey as he ran the London Marathon just a few weeks before. She waited in the crowd to greet Casey and the pair shared a sweet kiss as she cheered him on. The break-up came exactly one month after Gabby and Casey enjoyed a trip to Dubai together in their first holiday as a couple. The pair shared loved-up snaps from the trip where Casey was seen planting a kiss on Gabby's cheek while they enjoyed a romantic dinner. After winning the show, they had also enjoyed plenty of double dates with last year's All Stars winners Tom Clare and Molly Smith. Gabby discussed their relationship on the Agree to Disagree podcast earlier this month, including the moment when Casey asked her to be his girlfriend. 'He actually asked me weeks and weeks ago, we'd been out the villa about a month and I just thought I'm not even going to tell anyone,' she said. 'It's almost funnier that people are still giving me s**t about it! He literally asked me on a dog walk and a nice country pub and it was so nice there were no frills attached and it was perfect for what we wanted. 'I get why people want the elaborate stuff but this really from Case just really made it feel like it was real.' Gabby and Casey stormed to victory during the live Love Island final - pipping longtime frontrunners Luca Bish and Grace Jackson to the post while Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Curtis Pritchard finished in third. The couple had flown under the radar in the leadup to the finale, with bookmakers never placing them as favourites to clinch the £50,000 prize.

Gabby Logan's heart-breaking tribute 33 years after brother's sudden death

Gabby Logan has shared a touching tribute to her brother Daniel, who died when the pair were just teenagers, 33 years ago. In a tribute posted to her Instagram on Saturday, May 25, Gabby said: "It's 33 years. So much has happened, so many huge landmarks passed. I will always acknowledge Daniel's wonderful life. But there is a hole that is never filled, a gap that always needs navigating and that has been the challenge for all of us. A beautiful, painful and brilliant challenge. And that is life. Daniel Aiden Yorath 25.7.76 - 25.5.92." Daniel died suddenly in 1992 due to an underlying heart condition. He collapsed while playing football with their father Terry Yorath, the former professional Welsh footballer. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here It was later found that Daniel, who had been signed to play for Leeds United just before his death, had undiagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - a heart disease which affects the heart's ability to pump blood around the body. Ms Logan told the following to BBC Wales Live in 2022: "He was playing football in the garden with my dad and he fell over. "My dad thought he just was messing about and went over and rolled him over, and he basically died on the spot - and had no previous indications whatsoever that there were any health problems at all with him. "It's like a sledgehammer coming down and sending everybody off in different directions, because it's such a catastrophic thing to happen, and no warning - and everybody responds differently." Gabby pictured her as a four-year-old, with dad Terry, mum Christine, sister Louise, three, and brother Daniel The former rhythmic gymnast was just 19 when her younger brother, 15-year-old Daniel, died. She told the ainslie + ainslie Performance People podcast in April that she was trying to run from her grief rather than face it and eventually reached a breaking point. She said: 'I was running around running from my grief probably and then by the end of my first year at university, so just around the time of his first anniversary I had some first year exams and it all kind of came crashing down. 'I'd stopped sleeping properly. I felt very wobbly, I just kind of lost my balance and I went to see a doctor and he gave me some sleeping tablets and I thought 'That's not what I need'. 'Even I knew that's not the answer to what was going on, it was much deeper than that, it was the plaster and my dad had had a lot of problems with sleeping tablets. He said 'Don't take those, that's not a good route'.' Christine Yorath in 1978 with Gabby (4) and Louise (3) and son Daniel (1) (Image: Mirrorpix) Gabby was able to forge a successful a career first in athletics and then in broadcasting. It is the latter career that she has begun to speak more about and how it felt to present some of the nation's biggest shows. Her father Terry, who formerly played for Leeds United and was the Wales football manager, and mother Christine have also campaigned to raise awareness and money for children's heart charities over the years.
