Dance explores time's relationship to memory in The Weight of Then
The Weight of Then is more of a question than an answer. Just as they did in their previous performances Co/lapse, IRL, and Unstuck with You,Yonder is using contemporary dance as a medium to think through an idea. It's a refreshingly engaging and conceptually powerful way of connecting with their audience through movement. The Weight of Then is not for the passive observer. Rather, Yonder invites the audience to actively question not just what is happening on stage, but when it is happening.
Yonder Contemporary Dance Company is composed of top students from the University of Alabama's Department of Theatre and Dance, and their work defies expectations for university-level choreography. Each concept-heavy piece is created collaboratively over the course of three months, with a focus on crafting dances that are as thought-provoking as they are entertaining. After a tour across the Southeastern United States, where the company considers audience feedback and refines the work, they travel to Edinburgh to share the work with international audiences at the Fringe. 'We're excited to be returning to the Fringe this year,' said Yonder's Artistic Director, Sarah Barry, 'The personal stories that inspired this work have created strong bonds within the company and with our audiences, and we're excited to extend that connection to a global community at the Fringe.' This is Yonder Contemporary Dance Company's fourth time bringing a show to the Fringe and their third time performing with Greenside Venues.

Drake concert cancelled due to ‘unforeseen' travel issues
The Canadian musician was due to perform at Manchester's Co-Op Live Arena on Monday July 28, however, has had to reschedule the gig due to 'unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics'. The 38-year old, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, will instead perform at the venue on August 5. The news was shared in a statement on the Co-Op live website, which said: 'Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled. 'The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. 'All tickets remain valid for the new date—we can't wait to see you there!' This comes after Drake released a new song, Which One, on Thursday with British rapper Central Cee. Drake is midway through the UK leg of his Some Special Shows 4 U tour with Partynextdoor, marking his first return to Europe in six years. Earlier this month Drake performed at Wireless Festival in London after signing a multi-million pound deal to top the bill each night of the three nights. The Canadian brought out UK heavyweights Dave, Central Cee and J Hus as surprise guests during one of his performances on the main stage in Finsbury Park. He also performed with Lauryn Hill on one of the three nights. The five-time Grammy-award winning artist will head to mainland Europe in August with concerts scheduled in Amsterdam, Zurich, and Milan and Paris. The artist is best known for his hit songs One Dance, Hold On We're Going Home, and Hotline Bling.

Drake angers fans after cancelling Manchester gig last minute
Drake has left fans in Manchester fuming after cancelling his show at the city's Co-Op Live. The Hotline Bling hitmaker, 38, was set to play his third show at the venue tomorrow as part of his $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour. However, the Canadian rapper will no longer perform the gig due to 'unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics' per a statement shared by the venue. The message, shared on the Co-Op Live website, reads: 'Due to unforeseen ferry schedules and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28 has been rescheduled,' reports the Manchester Evening News. 'The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date – we can't wait to see you there!' Per the Ticketmaster website, those who cannot make the rescheduled date will be able to get their ticket refunded in full, which can be requested via their Ticketmaster account. Following his Manchester dates, the One Dance hitmaker will head over to Amsterdam for a string of shows at the Ziggo Dome. Fans have been quick to air their frustration over the cancellation online, with X user JoshDL796 asking if the whole thing was 'a joke.' CharlieeB_x asked: 'How is Drake using 'logistics' as an excuse to reschedule tomorrow nights show in Manchester when he's already here?' Josh Lax said they would 'never listen to him again' while Georgina Kritik dubbed the artist 'lame' for using travel issues as an excuse. 'Extended my unpaid leave in Dubai to stay in Manchester so I could see Drake on 28th July just for him to cancel last minute and say he's got travel problems my brother you are in the city wtfym!' Hassan said. The tour kicked off in Birmingham following Drake's performance at Wireless Festival. It comes as the musician's feud with Kendrick Lamar rumbles on, announcing legal action against the latter earlier this year. It has been reported that Drake, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, is suing UMG for spreading the a 'false and malicious narrative'. More Trending It stems from Kendrick's hit song Not Like Us which contains lyrics that read: 'Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young,' and 'Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him.' The artwork released with the single is an aerial shot of Drake's mansion with sex offender targets overlaid. TMZ reported that the suit claims the song's lyrics are filled with 'inflammatory and shocking allegations' and claims that UMG had an ulterior motive when it came to promoting Kendrick's tune. Drake's announcement that he was set to perform at Wireless was his first major news since Kendrick's Super Bowl half-time performance, in which he played Not Like Us live. Got a story?
