Steak 'that looks like Scotland' goes viral after Scot shares photo
'Bit dry to be Scotland,' one viewer joked
A Scot has gone viral online for their unusually shaped steak. The piece of meat appears to resemble Scotland.
Scotland is famed for its thriving culinary scene. People all over the world flock to the country for its various Michelin-starred restaurants and hidden gem eateries.
However, it is not every day that you come across food that looks like Scotland itself. That is exactly what happened to one individual who sat down to eat a steak, though.
On Tuesday, June 11, one person took to social media to share an image of their steak. Writing on the Scotland community on Reddit, they wrote: "Cooked a steak that looks like Scotland."
As can be seen in the image, the steak does in fact appear to bear a resemblance to the shape of Scotland. The meat resembles the irregular and jagged landmass of the country, with certain parts of it vaguely resembling the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, and Dumfries and Galloway on a map.
Since being shared, the photo has received more than 2,000 'upvotes'. The post has also been commented on more than 220 times, with many Scots keen to share their thoughts on the steak.
Some Reddit users were quick to comment on the appearance of the steak, with many stating that they believed it to be overdone. One even went to so far as to say it was "nuked".
One comment reads: "It'd be easier to chew through Hadrian's Wall than that thing."
"It is spelt nuked," a second stated, while another Reddit user said: "No, you ruined a steak until it looked like Scotland."
A fourth posted: "Is that my shoe sole? Steak looks drier than the Sahara."
Meanwhile, a few joked that the meat looked too "dry" to be Scotland.
One wrote: "Definitely not Scotland. Scotland will never be this dry."
"Scotland is nowhere near that dry," a second echoed, while a third joked: "Bit dry to be Scotland."
One user joked about the shape of the steak, asking: "Where's Shetland?" In response, somebody else replied: "It still burns in the pan."
Elsewhere, another posted: "Edinburgh looks a bit burnt."
As reported by the Daily Record, Reddit users recently shared their picks for the "best single malt Scotch". Whiskies from distilleries such as Balvenie and Glenfarclas were among those named.
We also reported on a simple 65p kitchen ingredient that can help make steak taste like it is from a restaurant. The addition of the ingredient is said to enhance the flavour of the meat as a result of a process that occurs when it is used.
More information about the steak that looks like Scotland can be found on the Reddit post.

David Beckham's rollercoaster journey from Leyton Orient trial to a knighthood
Telling the aspiring young footballer he would go on to play for Manchester United and Real Madrid, captain England, marry a pop star and become one of the most recognisable faces on the planet, fronting global brands, might well have seemed just as far-fetched. It was, though, not an easy journey for the former midfielder, who turned 50 in May, to achieve all of that success, both on and off the pitch – with the 2025 Sunday Times Rich List showing the estimated combined net worth of Beckham and his wife Victoria at £500million. A post shared by David Beckham (@davidbeckham) Born in Leytonstone, east London, Beckham had a trial at local team Leyton Orient and also attended Tottenham's school of excellence – but his father Ted, a staunch Manchester United fan, remained determined he would go on to play at Old Trafford. After coming through the club's academy as part of the famed 'Class of 92', Beckham announced himself to the Premier League on the opening day of the 1996-97 season with a memorable goal from the halfway line against Wimbledon. While there were plenty of doubters as to what he could go on to achieve, Beckham answered them and more – claiming six Premier League titles and two FA Cups with Sir Alex Ferguson's all-conquering side as well as a dramatic 1999 Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp. International success, however, proved elusive for Beckham as England's so-called 'golden generation' repeatedly came up short. In a Netflix documentary series, released during October 2023, Beckham revealed he still cannot forgive himself for the abuse his family suffered amid the fallout from his red card at the 1998 World Cup for kicking the back of Diego Simeone's leg during the last-16 clash against Argentina in Saint-Etienne – which left him a 'mess'. A pub hung up an effigy of the midfielder and Beckham received a hostile reception from rival fans around the country when he returned to action for United the following season but, despite the backlash, he went on to become an integral part of the national team. Beckham, possessing an expert dead-ball strike, took on the armband in 2000 for six years through two World Cup tournaments and still stands third on the all-time appearance list with 115 caps. However, the continued glare of the spotlight off the pitch, with Beckham having married Spice Girls singer Victoria in a star-studded ceremony in July 1999, saw his relationship with Ferguson cool – a cut eye from a boot kicked by the Scot in the changing room further fuelling speculation over his future at United. In the summer of 2003, having made almost 400 appearances for United and scoring 85 goals, a £25million switch to Real Madrid followed as Beckham became the latest 'Galactico' signing by club president Florentino Perez. Beckham would go on to win the LaLiga title before he departed for LA Galaxy in 2007 and collected the MLS Cup twice, spending two loan stints at AC Milan along the way. In January 2013, Beckham returned to Europe with Paris St Germain, later announcing his decision to retire at the end of the season, when he signed off with a Ligue 1 winners' medal. Beckham's impact off the pitch, though, had already long been established before eventually hanging up his boots at the age of 38. Already thinking about life after football during his time in the United States, Beckham became a co-owner of the Inter Miami franchise – with the club entering Major League Soccer for the 2020 campaign and now boasting Lionel Messi on the teamsheet. The world is a very tough place for millions of children and a global funding crisis is leaving them more vulnerable. In response, ahead of his 50th birthday, David Beckham is launching a fundraiser for UNICEF, to help children dream and thrive. Donate: — UNICEF (@UNICEF) April 15, 2025 A multi-million-pound lifetime deal with Adidas, signed in 2003, had secured his financial future away from the game. Other lucrative, high-profile endorsements down the years have ranged from fashion designers Calvin Klein, Armani and Hugo Boss to tech giants Samsung, Haig Club whisky and Stella Artois as well as kitchen appliance manufacturer Ninja. Beckham, who was made an OBE for services to football in 2003, has long been involved with children's charity UNICEF, and is a co-owner of film production company Studio 99. In 2024, Beckham was appointed Ambassador for The King's Foundation which works globally to create sustainable communities through placemaking projects and also transform lives through practical education programmes.

Serena Williams attends Scottish wedding with husband dressed in kilt
Serena Williams has been left gushing over Scotland after recently attending a traditional Scots wedding with her husband Alexis Ohanian. Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian have shared some snaps after attending a wedding in Scotland. The former tennis star, 43, and her hubby, 42, who is the co-founder of Reddit, travelled over from the States to attend a friend's wedding with the pair making their love for Scotland clear as Serena wrote online: "The Scots truly made this experience one for the books." Alex even went all out for the occasion and chose to don a traditional Scots kilt for the special day which Serena definitely seemed to approve of. Taking to Instagram to share a sweet photo of the couple posing outside of the unknown wedding venue, Serena wrote: "Dear Scotland! it was well worth seeing @AlexisOhanian in a kilt! "What a stud! Thank you so much. #ScotlandWedding #love #happilyeverafter #newlyweds #weddingguest #kilt." The tennis pro looked stunning in a black and nude lace dress, with a matching headscarf and shaggy shawl around her arms and black pointed toe black heels. In another post from earlier today, she shared a snap of herself posing outside the Capital's iconic Red Bus in her wedding attire. She wrote: "In Scotland, for a wedding and I'm still missing my time there! I was honored to be at my friend's wedding. The Scots truly made this experience one for the books. She asked her 18M Instagram followers: "Have you been to any weddings abroad? I need deets! ! #ScotlandAdventures #WeddingVibes #TravelDiaries #ExploreScotland #LoveAndFrienship #DestinationWedding #TravelGoals #NatureLovers #MemoriesMade." Delighted fans raced to comment on Serena's snaps from her Scottish trip as one wrote: "Glad you enjoyed your time in Scotland. Best country in the world. Slightly biased opinion." Another replied: "Scottish people always have a great time and are friendly." A third chimed in: "Best place for a wedding." Somebody else added: "You were queen of the Ceilidh Scottish dance floor!" Another Scottish follower penned: "Welcome to Scotland! Not been to a wedding abroad but I have been on the Red Bus.. enjoy!", alongside a smiling face emoji. Serena, who is known to be good friends with Meghan Markle, tied the knot with Alexis in November 2017 in a luxurious wedding ceremony at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. Their fairytale union was nothing short of magical with a prominent Beauty and the Beast theme, drawing inspiration from the beloved Disney film. High profile celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Eva Longoria all attended the lavish event. And it seems Serena's love for her hubby is just as strong as ever as she referred to him as a "stud" in his kilt. Her Instagram followers were quick to agree with her remark as one commented: "Lol. Alex is wearing that kilt. Looks amazing y'all!!!"
