Justice Manjusha Deshpande directed the stay on the April 5 order of a sessions court that had upheld a magistrate's order. On Feb 4, the magistrate had directed Munde to pay the woman Rs 1.25 lakh per month and Rs 75,000 per month to their daughter under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence (DV) Act.
Munde's petition said he has been legally married to his wife since 2001 and they have three children. He denied marrying the woman (complainant) and said the DV Act is not applicable in this case. He said she was aware of his marital status when they entered into a relationship. The woman claimed she married Munde in 1999. tnn

Shinde performed the consecration of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini with milk. Addressing reporters, Shinde extended his greetings on the occasion and stated that the government has allocated Rs 25 crore for the temple's redevelopment. 'I wish the people of Maharashtra on the occasion of 'Ashadi Ekadashi'. Excitement can be witnessed among the Panduranga's devotees. Warkari community from all parts of Maharashtra visit Pandharpur to get a 'darshan' of Lord Panduranga and Mata Rukmai,' he said. Shinde told reporters, 'I prayed Panduranga to bless everyone and for the prosperity of the Warkari, Ladki Bahin and Ladka Bhau. This is an ancient temple, and the government has given a fund of Rs 25 crore for its redevelopment, and soon the devotees will get better facilities.' Shiv Sena leader Raju Waghmare wished the public on the auspicious occasion. 'Eknath Shinde said that Pandurang's blessing will be on all Ladki Bahin and Ladke Bhau, and we are giving good wishes from Shiv Sena to everybody in Mumbai and Maharashtra,' Waghmare told ANI. Insolvency law cannot override PMLA, ED attachment to stay, says NCLAT
Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code cannot override the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), said appellate tribunal NCLAT, adding assets of an debt-ridden firm once attached by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and confirmed by competent authority cannot be released for its resolution. Under section 14 of IBC, a moratorium is applied on those assets for the purpose of resolution. However, if the property is alleged to be "proceeds of crime" and is already under adjudication by competent authority under a penal statute, such property cannot be deemed to be part of the freely available resolution estate, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) said. The appellate tribunal held that if there is any attachment by ED under the PMLA, which is "validly made and confirmed, it cannot be undone under IBC (Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code). Citing section 238 of IBC, which has an overriding effect over other laws, a three-member NCLAT bench said it "cannot override the PMLA in respect of proceedings involving proceeds of crime." PMLA and IBC operate in distinct spheres and there is no "irreconcilable inconsistency" exists between the two, said NCLAT adding ED does not act as a creditor, but as a public enforcement agency. "The attached assets are not to satisfy creditors, but to uphold penal objectives and international obligations under FATF and UN Conventions," said the appellate tribunal, while upholding an order of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). NCLAT also cited a directive issued by the Supreme Court in the Embassy Property matter, saying it "lacks jurisdiction to interfere with the PAO, which has been subsequently confirmed by the Adjudicating Authority under the PMLA". The appellate tribunal's 36-page-order came over a plea filed by the resolution professional of Dunar Foods, challenging an NCLT ruling, which had refused to direct the ED to release provisionally attached assets of the debt-ridden company. On December 22, 2027, the Mumbai bench of NCLT had ordered insolvency proceedings against Dunar Foods, which was engaged in processing and exporting basmati rice. The insolvency petition was filed by a consortium of banks led by public sector lender SBI for a loan repayment default of Rs 758.73 crore. Accordingly, CIRP (corporate insolvency resolution process) was initiated against Dunar Foods with the appointment of a resolution professional. Meanwhile, the ED initiated an investigation under PMLA against PD Agroprocessors, an associate company of Dunar Foods. It traced the flow of alleged tainted funds to Dunar Foods based on scheduled offences under the Indian Penal Code and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), alleging that large export advances received by Dunar Foods from PD Agroprocessors were proceeds of crime. ED then attached Dunar Foods' several immovable and movable assets worth Rs 177.33 crore, prompting the resolution professional (RP) of the firm to move NCLT seeking immediate de-attachment of the provisionally attached properties. However, the NCLT on May 21, 2018 dismissed the RP's application and held that the provisional attachment order issued by the ED under PMLA did not fall within the scope of the moratorium under Section 14 of the IBC. NCLT had said that PMLA is a special penal statute and has a 'distinct adjudicatory mechanism', hence unless and until the attachment was set aside by the PMLA adjudicating authority, the NCLT has no jurisdiction to direct its release. Aggrieved by this decision, Dunar Foods' RP then approached appellate tribunal NCLAT. Meanwhile, the lenders of Dunar Foods approved the resolution plan submitted by Amit Gupta in November 2019 during the pendency of the appeal in NCLAT. The appellate tribunal said though Provisional Attachment Order (PAO) was issued by ED after the commencement of CIRP, ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) investigation commenced as far back as 2013.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday (July 6, 2025) extended greetings to people on the occasion of 'Ashadhi Ekadashi' and called for the spread of Marathi language and culture far and wide. In his message, Mr. Pawar described the annual 'wari' (pilgrimage) to Pandharpur in Solapur district, where devotees offer prayers at the famous temple of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini, as a glorious tradition rooted in devotion, discipline and spiritual equality. "This is the spiritual and cultural strength of Maharashtra that must be preserved and strengthened," the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief said. Extending his best wishes, the Deputy CM said, 'Let Marathi language and culture echo far and wide, let the flag of Maharashtra's progress fly high with pride. May the State witness prosperity, unity and strength by moving forward collectively.' 'The Ashadhi wari is a powerful movement of Maharashtra's spiritual and cultural richness. For centuries, the warkari sect has not only guided but enriched the State's social and cultural fabric,' he said. 'Lakhs of warkaris walking towards Pandharpur chanting the name of Lord Vitthal reflect unity, equality and brotherhood,' Mr. Pawar pointed out. The Deputy Chief Minister also prayed for a good monsoon and a prosperous agricultural season. Maharashtra scraps three-language policy for primary education, sets up panel to make recommendations "I pray that the fields be fertile, homes be abundant with grains, and every household in the State be blessed with peace and happiness," he said. Highlighting the discipline, cleanliness, service and social unity seen in the wari tradition, Mr. Pawar said, "The wari teaches us the true essence of humanity and dedication. This spirit must be channelled into the development of Maharashtra." Describing the Ashadhi wari as a glorious tradition of devotion to Lord Pandurang, he said it is a powerful movement of Maharashtra's spiritual and cultural richness. 'For many centuries, lakhs of warkaris, chanting the name of Hari, have been walking towards Pandharpur with a longing to meet Lord Pandurang, spreading the message of unity, equality and brotherhood through their actions,' Mr. Pawar said. "This is the strength of Maharashtra's spiritual and cultural unity. Preserving and nurturing it is our responsibility," he added.
