Kim Soo Hyun trails Byeon Woo Seok in top 3 of star power ranking; sees sudden surge in fan support amid dating scandal
Kim Soo Hyun lands third in Star Power Ranking
The poll was conducted from April 24 to May 1. According to AllKpop, during the 109th round, Kim Nam Gil was sitting comfortably in third place with Kim Soo Hyun in seventh, holding just 540 votes. However, in the next round, Soo Hyun received a total of 11,546 votes, dethroning the Island actor from the third spot and joining the leading stars: King the Land fame Lee Jun Ho, who ranked first with 40,302 votes, and Lovely Runner, Baeksang-nominated star Byun Woo Seok, who came in second with 24,208 votes. For the unversed, the Star Ranking platform is a popular fan voting poll where fans can directly vote for their favourite stars. The stars who rank first are given multiple benefits, including outdoor billboard advertisements. Topping the list for around four consecutive weeks, the digital billboard also gives shout-outs to the actors with fan-made videos. These rewards give fans exclusive opportunities to publicly showcase their support and promote their idols.

In Kim Soo Hyun's case, the embattled star experienced a dramatic surge in fan support after losing thousands of followers. Some of his loyal fan base even launched petitions and filed lawsuits against online hate campaigns targeting him. However, despite the buzz, his ongoing dating scandal involving late Bloodhounds star Kim Sae Ron didn't convince showrunners to bring him back into projects. One of the biggest setbacks came from the Disney show Knock Off, alongside Jo Bo Ah, which was put on hold with no hope for revival and a potential lawsuit hanging over Soo Hyun. The action drama was seen as his big return to the small screen after the success of Queen of Tears.
Kim Soo Hyun's agency releases new statement
Days after holding a press conference and suing Kim Sae Ron's family, along with YouTuber Kim Se Ui and his channel GaroSero, the It's Okay Not to Be Okay star's agency has issued an additional statement regarding their legal actions. According to the Gold Medalist, they have filed new charges against Kim Se Ui for alleged stalking and privacy breach. The initial complaint was filed on April 1, accusing the YouTuber of the 'continuous and repeated spread of false information.' Following this, the Seoul Central District Court issued an interim order on April 22, warning him about the legal consequences. However, despite the warning, Kim Se Ui, according to Gold Medalist, continued stalking the star. In its latest statement, the company said, 'Kim Se Ui's actions are in violation of the court's decision and are subject to criminal punishment of up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20,000,000 KRW (14,073.85 USD). Gold Medalist and Kim Soo Hyun have filed additional charges against him.'

Chinese YouTuber Xing's World builds working subway for his cats in 4 months; internet says it beats America's transit system
If you need something adorable to chase away your midweek blues, we've got just the thing. While pets on social media have often become cash cows—with creators launching dedicated channels to rake in sponsorships and revenue—Chinese YouTuber Xing Zhilei, also known as Xing's World, is going viral for a much more wholesome reason: he built a fully operational subway system for his cats. This isn't his first creative venture either—before the subway, Xing captured hearts by constructing an entire miniature supermarket, a theatre, a spa and a garage just for his feline friends. Chinese YouTuber Xing's World builds a DIY subway for his cats Xing Zhilei has taken DIY pet projects to a whole new level. In a two-minute video uploaded on August 17 to his channel Xing's World, he unveiled a purr-fectly crafted miniature subway system, complete with a moving train, a fully functional escalator, and platform doors that open in sync with the train's arrival, just like the real deal. The entire project took 4 months to complete. While the subway may be cat-sized, it's surprisingly roomy. Mr. Xing can even fit inside the train himself, though he has to lie down like a sardine to do it. The real commuters, however, are his cool-as-a-cucumber cats, seen calmly hopping on and off the train while cheeky boarding announcements welcome these VIPs (Very Important Paw-sengers). Since being uploaded on YouTube, the video has amassed over 191,000 views. Check out below: Meanwhile, in the behind-the-scenes scoop, Xing admitted he ran into 'paw-sibilities,' like figuring out how to build a working escalator and getting the platform and carriage doors to open at the same time. Fans praise Xing's craftsmanship Social media couldn't get enough as videos of Xing's feline-friendly metro have gone viral, with viewers marvelling at just how much Cat Town Subway Station looks and functions like an actual underground stop. Coolie: Did Kannada star Upendra make a mistake by saying yes to Rajinikanth's action drama?
Kannada star Upendra is in the limelight because of the Rajinikanth-led Coolie, which hit the screens on August 14 and features him in a key role. The action drama has set the box office on fire despite receiving mixed reviews. It has grossed over Rs 400 crore worldwide so far, exceeding expectations. Upendra's role, however, has come under criticism. Many feel that it lacks substance and does not do justice to the actor's body of work, which includes cult films such as H2O and Super. So, is the criticism justified? Moreover, did he make a mistake by saying 'yes' to it? Was Upendra underutilised in Coolie? Sandalwood legend Shivarajkumar had a power cameo in Jailer (2023). He got a spectacular entry scene and had some memorable interactions with Rajinikanth's character. In fact, in one scene, he even saved his family. The same, however, can't be said about Upendra's role in Coolie. The 'Real Star', much like Shivanna, plays Rajinikanth's aide in the film. Moreover, he too gets a grand entry scene. However, things go downhill soon. #ಕೂಲಿ ಅಬ್ಬರ ನಾಳೆಯಿಂದ🔥#Coolie storm begins tomorrow🔥#Coolie releasing worldwide August 14th @rajinikanth @Dir_Lokesh @anirudhofficial #AamirKhan @iamnagarjuna @nimmaupendra #SathyaRaj #SoubinShahir @shrutihaasan @Reba_Monica @monishablessyb @hegdepooja @anbariv… Unlike Jailer director Nelson, Lokesh Kanagaraj fails to explore the dynamics between Upendra's character and the one played by 'Superstar' The rushed and short flashback doesn't make the situation any better. Upendra's character is reduced to an afterthought in these sequences as the focus firmly remains on Rajinikanth's character. Ideally, the flashback should have 'shown' viewers the bond between the two characters. It should also have featured action blocks designed to showcase Upendra's larger-than-life and eccentric real image. Sadly, Coolie doesn't feature anything along similar lines. Additionally, Upendra hardly speaks. This makes his character like a caricature. Given this, doing Coolie was not the best decision on his part. What's Coolie about? Coolie is an action drama directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced under the Sun Pictures banner. It features Rajinikanth as Deva, a former coolie and man of the masses. He develops a bond with Preethi (Shruti Haasan), the 'daughter' of his late friend. The cast includes Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. Anirudh Ravichander is the music director. Coolie is a standalone film with no connection to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes titles such as Vikram and Vijay's Leo.
