India is set to mark a new era in its chapter with the five-match Test series against England, set to commence on the 20th of June in Leeds. Under the leadership of young captain
Shubman Gill
, the Indian team is looking to enter a new era and subsequently, the start of a new World Test Championship cycle.
As the country prepares for the high-stakes Test matchup, the excitement is high in the England camp as well. In a viral video on YouTube, England cricketing stars Jos Buttler and Stuart Broad discussed Gill's ascension as captain and his 'mixed' demeanour as a cricketer.
In the 'For The Love Of Cricket' podcast, the former England Test pacer took a dive into Gill's India captaincy and the challenge for him to do well in his first series in his new role.
"I think, pretty calm and measured when he speaks. But interesting, I think, on the field, he's got a sort of fire, a bit of intensity. I think he'll be a mix sort of, of (Virat) Kohli and Rohit (Sharma)', said Jos Buttler. "In Kohli, he's sort of really aggressive, sort of transformed the Indian team, in your face, up for the contest. Rohit, a bit more on the other side, a bit more laid back, very cool, calm, collected, but with that fire.

Rafael Devers is gone, but Red Sox insists team still has a real shot at winning more games
Red Sox exec defends Rafael Devers trade (Getty Images) The Boston Red Sox made headlines over the weekend by trading away star slugger Rafael Devers, leaving both fans and players scrambling for answers. While many assumed the move was sudden, deeper issues within the organization have slowly surfaced, suggesting the split had been brewing beneath the surface for some time. Rafael Devers traded—but Red Sox executive says the team's best days are still ahead On Monday, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow addressed the media in a Zoom call to shed light on the organization's reasoning. His explanation? The trade wasn't just about Devers—it was about building something sustainable. "This isn't about the game that is played on paper," said Breslow. "This is about the game that is played on the field and ultimately about winning the most games that we can. And in order to do that, trying to put together the most functional and complete team that we can. So I think that when you consider the flexibility, the ability to give some of the young players some run, the opportunity to maybe repackage some of the resources and fill some voids in the roster as early as approaching this year's deadline and being really intentional about the environment that we create for these young players to thrive in, I do think there's a real chance that at the end of the season, we're looking back and we've won more games than we otherwise would've. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play Chess on Your PC, Free Play Classic Chess Install Now Undo ' It's an ambitious vision, especially given Boston's current fourth-place standing in the AL East. The bar isn't set at making a postseason run, but rather performing better than they would have with Devers on the roster. In many ways, the decision reflects a shift from star power to structural balance. While Breslow denied that Devers formally requested a trade, he admitted there were conversations that hinted at a mutual desire to move on. 'There were times during the course of conversations with Raffy's camp where they indicated that perhaps a fresh start would be best for both sides,' he revealed. 'We were committed to trying to work through this, ultimately we weren't able to achieve that alignment.' Sources suggest that tensions had been building since the Red Sox asked Devers to move to designated hitter after signing Alex Bregman. His agreement to DH was already reluctant—and things worsened when he was later asked to fill in at first base following Triston Casas's season-ending injury. That request reportedly didn't sit well with Devers, leading some inside the organization to feel that he wasn't willing to 'step up. ' Even with internal friction, the trade stunned the locker room. Veteran shortstop Trevor Story was particularly surprised, noting the team was starting to build momentum. The front office's decision to shake up the roster mid-hot streak only added to the confusion. Devers is now set to make his debut with the San Francisco Giants this week. While Boston turns the page on one of its brightest stars, the front office is betting that culture, cohesion, and flexibility will win more games than one man could deliver. Time will tell if that gamble pays off. Also Read: Watch: Rafael Devers returns to empty Fenway Park alone after being traded by Red Sox to Giants
