Dwarka Expressway, UER-II: PM Modi inaugurates highway projects in Delhi to ease congestion, speed travel
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two National Highway projects in the national capital: the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and a major stretch of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). The projects, developed at a combined cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore are aimed at easing traffic congestion in Delhi and improving connectivity with surrounding areas. The inauguration was attended by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The 10.1-km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway was built at a cost of about Rs 5,360 crore. The section will provide connectivity to Yashobhoomi convention centre, the Delhi Metro's Blue and Airport lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka bus depot. It will also decongest NH-48 by providing an alternative route to the existing Delhi-Gurugram highway. The Expressway also has 8-lane wide tunnel which is 3.6 km long. The expressway's Delhi portion has been divided into two packages: 5.9 km from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge at Dwarka Sector-21, and 4.2 km from Dwarka Sector-21 to the Delhi-Haryana border. The Haryana section of the expressway, about 19 km long, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in March 2024. Alongside, PM Modi also inaugurated the 66 km-long Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 5,580 crore, the project is expected to divert heavy traffic away from Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads and reduce pressure on congested points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and NH-09. It will provide direct connectivity to outer Delhi areas such as Narela, Bawana, Mundka and Najafgarh. UER-II was constructed using 10 lakh metric tonnes of inert material from the Bhalswa and Ghazipur landfills. According to officials, the new spurs will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, improve connectivity to industrial hubs, and facilitate faster movement of goods across the National Capital Region.

Meet Woman Who Was Sent To Orphanage At Just 10, Struggled As Labourer Earning Rs 5 Per Day, Now She's CEO Of THIS Billion-Dollar Company; She Is...
photoDetails english 2947242 Updated:Aug 17, 2025, 12:56 PM IST A Story That Will Touch Your Heart 1 / 7 You may have come across many rags-to-riches stories, but some journeys go beyond success — they inspire. This is the incredible life of Jyothi Reddy, who once earned just Rs 5 a day as a farm labourer and now runs a billion-dollar IT company in the United States. Her story is one of grit, sacrifice, and unwavering determination. A Childhood Marked by Struggle 2 / 7 Born into a poor family of five in Telangana, Jyothi's life changed forever at the age of 10, when her father, unable to support her, sent her to an orphanage. Despite the emotional trauma, she stayed strong, attended a government school, and silently held on to big dreams. Married at 16, Mother of Two 3 / 7 At just 16 years old, Jyothi was married off and soon became a mother to two daughters. With barely any resources, she worked as a labourer in farm fields, earning only Rs 5 a day. Life was harsh, but she never gave up on the idea of a better future for herself and her children. Education Becomes Her Ladder 4 / 7 Determined to change her circumstances, Jyothi pursued her BA in 1994 and completed her postgraduate degree in 1997. She took up a teaching job, earning just Rs 398 per month, and stitched clothes at night to support her family. Even then, she kept moving forward — slowly but surely. A Spark of Hope — The U.S. Dream 5 / 7 Everything changed when a relative visiting from the United States spoke of life abroad. Motivated, Jyothi took up computer courses and later moved to the U.S. Starting from scratch, she worked odd jobs — from petrol stations to babysitting — and saved every dollar she could. Building Her Empire 6 / 7 In 2001, with 40,000 dollars in savings, Jyothi founded Key Software Solutions. What began as a small tech venture slowly grew into a $15 million business, and by 2017, it evolved into a billion-dollar enterprise. Her rise was nothing short of extraordinary. A Legacy of Inspiration 7 / 7 Jyothi Reddy's journey from an orphanage to the boardroom of a billion-dollar company is a powerful lesson in resilience, hard work, and belief. Today, she's not just a successful entrepreneur — she's a symbol of hope for millions of women and girls who dare to dream beyond their circumstances.
