Former Texans OC Bobby Slowik lands new gig with former 49ers colleague
Bobby Slowik is back on his feet and with a fellow former San Francisco 49ers coach.
Again.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the former Houston Texans offensive coordinator is joining the Miami Dolphins as a senior passing game coordinator for the 2025 season, reuniting him with former 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
Slowik, 37, was now tasked with helping Tua Tagovialoa continue his progression as a top-tier quarterback in the AFC East. He was fired after two seasons as the mastermind behind the Texans' offense that secured two division titles but struggled to find consistency.

Slowik worked with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel during their time together in San Francisco. He eventually served as the 49ers pass game coordinator after McDaniel left the Bay Area to become Miami's head coach in 2022.
A once sought-after head coaching candidate following C.J. Stroud's breakout rookie season, Slowik and the Texans never regained that spark. Stroud, who became the fifth passer in league history to throw for over 4,000 yards, stalled in his development and somewhat regressed en route to a second postseason appearance.
As a whole, the offensive production took a dip. In 2023, Houston ranked 12th in yards per game (342.4) and 13th in points per game (22.2). Last season, the Texans finished 22nd in yards per game (319.7), 21st in passing yards per game (207.4), and 19th in scoring (21.9 points).

In Miami, Bobby will reunite with his brother, Ryan Slowik. Ryan serves as the Dolphins defensive backs coach and pass game specialist. He'll have a cast of weapons to work with on offense, including All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill and Pro Bowl targets Jaylen Waddle and Jonnu Smith.
The Texans recently hired Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach and passing coordinator Nick Caley as Slowik's replacement.

He wasn't under the watchful eye of Chargers executive director of player performance Ben Herbert this offseason. He didn't train in the team's El Segundo practice facility. But it doesn't mean Rashawn Slater wasn't working this offseason. Making his first offseason appearance at the Chargers facility this week as the team started mandatory mini camp, Slater immediately passed the team's conditioning test. In fact, Jim Harbaugh said, Slater reported the test was too easy. 'Too easy,' the coach said, 'because he trains.' Slater's return highlighted the Chargers' perfect attendance on the first day of three-day minicamp Tuesday. The star left tackle had missed all of voluntary organized team activities while in discussions for a contract extension. Since the Chargers took him 13th overall in 2021, Slater has earned two Pro Bowl appearances and was named second-team All-Pro in 2021. After the team picked up his fifth-year option last season, Slater re-established himself as one of the top tackles in the league with the second-best overall grade and third-best pass blocking grade among his position, according to Pro Football Focus. In the final year of his contract, he is due to make about $19 million in 2025, which ranks sixth-most among left tackles, according to 'Speaking on behalf of everyone in the organization, fully support Rashawn and what he's trying to accomplish for himself and his family,' said Harbaugh, who added he chooses not to worry about discussions as they continue between general manager Joe Hortiz and Slater's representatives. 'We're all in support.' Slater has maintained his standing in the organization because of his respected work ethic that earned him distinction of being a team captain last season. Harbaugh counts Slater is part of an exclusive club made of the team's nine hardest workers. Jeffery Simmons arrives at Titans' minicamp 20 pounds lighter
Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons spent the offseason away from the team facility, training on his own. Simmons showed up for the team's mandatory minicamp this week, and he arrived 20 pounds lighter. It's no wonder coach Brian Callahan didn't worry about Simmons' absence. Simmons weighed in at 301 pounds Tuesday. 'I feel great,' Simmons said, via Jim Wyatt of the team website. 'I feel light on my feet, and I still feel very explosive.' Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson started a tradition last year of asking players who miss the offseason program to do up-downs upon their return. Simmons admits he was winded. But he said it was 'great' to be back with his teammates. 'It's great to be back on the field with the guys, getting to work with the guys,' Simmons said. 'It's not always an easy decision, making the decision not to be here with your teammates, especially with a lot of new guys. . . . But I made that decision. It was a personal decision. But today was a good day, and I was glad to be back.' Simmons is under contract in Tennessee through the 2027 season and he made his third Pro Bowl after the 2024 season.
