Former Texans OC joining Dolphins' coaching staff
Former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is set to join the Miami Dolphins' coaching staff as senior passing game coordinator, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Slowik, 37, previously worked with Mike McDaniel as part of both the Washington and San Francisco coaching staffs. After the Texans' surprising rise in 2023 that ended with an AFC South title and a playoff win, Slowik was a popular name in coaching searches. The Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Washington Commanders all interviewed Slowik for their head coaching vacancies before he eventually agreed to a raise to stay in Houston. However, the Texans offense failed to take a step forward in 2024, finishing No. 22 in yards and No. 19 in points. Injuries played a huge role in those struggles, especially at the wide receiver position, with Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell all missing time. Shortly after a 23-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, Slowik was fired by Houston. The Dolphins replaced their wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator after the 2024 season, but retained the rest of the staff. That included quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator Darrell Bevell, who interviewed for the Las Vegas Raiders' offensive coordinator position, but wasn't hired. Slowik's brother, Ryan, has been on the Dolphins' coaching staff since 2022 and currently works as the team's defensive backs coach and defensive pass game specialist.

Former Texans OC Bobby Slowik lands new gig with former 49ers colleague
Bobby Slowik is back on his feet and with a fellow former San Francisco 49ers coach. Again. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the former Houston Texans offensive coordinator is joining the Miami Dolphins as a senior passing game coordinator for the 2025 season, reuniting him with former 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Slowik, 37, was now tasked with helping Tua Tagovialoa continue his progression as a top-tier quarterback in the AFC East. He was fired after two seasons as the mastermind behind the Texans' offense that secured two division titles but struggled to find consistency. Former #Texans OC Bobby Slowik is joining the #Dolphins as senior passing game coordinator, per sources. Still only 37, Slowik was a hot head coaching candidate last year after Houston's instant success. Now, a reunion with former #49ers coworker Mike McDaniel in Miami. — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) February 12, 2025 Slowik worked with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel during their time together in San Francisco. He eventually served as the 49ers pass game coordinator after McDaniel left the Bay Area to become Miami's head coach in 2022. A once sought-after head coaching candidate following C.J. Stroud's breakout rookie season, Slowik and the Texans never regained that spark. Stroud, who became the fifth passer in league history to throw for over 4,000 yards, stalled in his development and somewhat regressed en route to a second postseason appearance. As a whole, the offensive production took a dip. In 2023, Houston ranked 12th in yards per game (342.4) and 13th in points per game (22.2). Last season, the Texans finished 22nd in yards per game (319.7), 21st in passing yards per game (207.4), and 19th in scoring (21.9 points). Source confirms that former Texans OC Bobby Slowik is joining the Dolphins staff as Senior Pass Game Coordinator I'm told there are no changes to Darrell Bevell's title — he's been the Dolphins' QB coach and pass game coordinator since 2022 — Marcel Louis-Jacques (@Marcel_LJ) February 12, 2025 In Miami, Bobby will reunite with his brother, Ryan Slowik. Ryan serves as the Dolphins defensive backs coach and pass game specialist. He'll have a cast of weapons to work with on offense, including All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill and Pro Bowl targets Jaylen Waddle and Jonnu Smith. The Texans recently hired Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach and passing coordinator Nick Caley as Slowik's replacement.

Report: Dolphins hiring former Texans OC Bobby Slowik as assistant
February 12 - Former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik has landed in Miami as senior passing game coordinator, according to an NFL Network report on Tuesday, reuniting him with Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. The Texans fired Slowik, 37, last month after two seasons as offensive coordinator. Houston's offense took a downturn following quarterback C.J. Stroud's impressive rookie season, finishing 19th in the NFL in average points per game (21.9) and 22nd in total yards (319.7) in 2024. The Texans ranked 13th and 12th in those categories, respectively, in 2023. Houston went 10-7 last season, capturing the AFC South title and beating the Los Angeles Chargers 32-12 in the wild-card round before being eliminated 23-14 by the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional playoffs. Prior to arriving in Houston, Slowik spent six years in San Francisco, where McDaniel was the 49ers' run game coordinator from 2017-2020 and offensive coordinator in 2021 before taking the helm in Miami in 2022. Slowik served in a variety of roles for the 49ers. He started as a defensive quality control coach (2017-18) then became the team's offensive assistant (2019-20), passing game specialist (2021), and passing game coordinator (2022). He began his NFL coaching career as a defensive assistant for three seasons with the Washington franchise (2011-13).

Houston Texans offensive coordinator tracker: Who has interviewed since Bobby Slowik's firing?
It's been a week since the Houston Texans fired offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and offensive line coach Chris Strausser. Since then, it's been a madhouse. The Texans have gone out of their way to bring in ample candidates for interviews to fill the vacancy and work with C.J. Stroud heading into Year 3 of DeMeco Ryans' era. One of the must-have points is a relationship with Stroud, who struggled to duplicate his 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year magic last fall under Slowik's play-calling. Here's a quick look at the candidates the Texans have talked to or will speak to entering the weekend.
