Meeting with Putin main agenda of PM Anwar's second-day Russia visit
The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Kremlin, starting at 1 pm local time (6 pm Malaysian time).
Both leaders are expected to discuss a range of bilateral issues and explore potential areas of collaboration between Malaysia and Russia, including trade, investment, agriculture and agri-commodities, education, aerospace, and energy.
The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
In addition, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Mishustin, for another bilateral discussion.
Anwar is also slated to receive a courtesy call from the Grand Mufti of the Russian Federation, Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, who is also the chairman of the Russian Religious Board of Muslims.
Leading a delegation of over 70 officials, Anwar arrived here yesterday to begin his four-day visit to Russia at the invitation of Putin. The Prime Minister was welcomed with an Honorary Guard of Honour upon landing at Vnukovo-2 International Airport at 6.26 pm local time (11.26 pm Malaysia time).
The Malaysian delegation includes Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan; Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu; Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Li Kang; Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir; and Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
In the morning, Anwar will attend a roundtable meeting with Russian captains of industry, involving 24 major Russian companies and two chambers of commerce. The discussion is expected to focus on strategic cooperation to enhance bilateral trade between Malaysia and Russia.
Ministers accompanying the Prime Minister will also participate in the meeting, which aims to foster stronger ties between the two nations.

"And, if we are to uphold this shared framework, then each nation must also summon the resolve to strengthen its own legal foundations, for only strong pillars at home can sustain a resilient edifice abroad." He added that Asean must continue to invest in mutual legal assistance, strengthen mechanisms for dispute resolution, and confront new challenges posed by digital governance and the regulation of artificial intelligence. 22mil Malaysians can now check eligibility for Sara assistance online
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 22 million Malaysian MyKad holders can now check their eligibility for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) via the official portal at In a statement, the Finance Ministry (MoF) said all Malaysian MyKad holders aged 18 and above, born in 2007 or earlier, are eligible for the assistance — including existing Sara recipients. "No registration or application is required, as eligibility for Sara is determined automatically based on National Registration Department (NRD) MyKad records. "Members of the public are therefore advised not to fall victim to scams, as Sara assistance will be credited directly to recipients' MyKad accounts," the statement read. MoF said that the RM100 Sara credit would be channelled into recipients' MyKad accounts from Aug 31 in conjunction with National Day and may be used until Dec 31. To ensure equitable distribution of the nation's resources, the ministry added that any unused Sara balance at the end of the year would be reallocated to vulnerable groups through Madani Government programmes to be determined later. "Recipients may also choose to use the assistance to purchase essential goods and donate them to those in need, including NGOs, places of worship, and other charitable causes. "Households collectively have the potential to receive a larger total of Sara credits. For instance, a family comprising a husband, wife, and two children aged 18 or above would be entitled to RM400 in total," it said. The ministry said the Sara assistance could be spent at more than 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide — a number expected to increase — covering over 100,000 essential items across 14 categories. "These include staples such as rice and eggs, household cleaning supplies, medicines, school necessities, and personal care items. "Recipients may also refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), store listings by city, and purchasing guidelines available on the official portal." With the rollout of Sara, the ministry said the combined allocation for the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sara programmes would rise from RM13 billion to RM15 billion in 2025 — 50 per cent higher than the RM10 billion allocated in 2024.
