Annecy Title ‘ChaO' To Open Japan Cuts Festival In New York City
Animated feature ChaO is will open Japan Cuts: Festival of New Japanese Film on July 10 in New York.
Fresh from its world premiere at the Annecy festival and ahead of its Japanese theatrical release in August, ChaO will be the Opening Night film for Japan Cuts.

ChaO is produced by Japanese animation outfit Studio 4°C and presented in partnership with Gkids.
Studio 4°C was founded in 1986 and has produced titles like Mind Game and Tekkonkinkreet, and also co-produced ThunderCats with Warner Bros. Animation.
Japan Cuts, North America's largest festival of contemporary Japanese cinema, will mark its 18th edition this year and run from July 10 to 20.
Directed by Yasuhiro Aoki, ChaO is a hand-drawn cyberpunk fairy tale set in near-future Shanghai where humans coexist with mermen.
The film follows Stephan, a regular office worker at a shipbuilding company, who is suddenly proposed to by Chao – a princess from the mermaid kingdom. Soon, Stephan finds himself living together with Chao, and both strike up an unlikely romance.
The film features a voice cast starring Ouji Suzuka and Anna Yamada.

Wynn Debuts Sartiano's Steakhouse, a New York Social Hotspot for the Strip
Wynn Las Vegas is bringing a double dose of New York influence to the Strip this winter. The resort already announced an outpost of Zero Bond, the exclusive Manhattan members club known for its buzzy guest list and low-key power plays. Alongside it comes Sartiano's Italian Steakhouse, a refined spin on the classic steakhouse from Bond Hospitality and Scott Sartiano, with a kitchen helmed by three-time James Beard Award winner Alfred Portale. Together, Sartiano's and Zero Bond mark a high-profile pairing of hospitality heavyweights — and a notable expansion of NYC's social scene into Las Vegas. When it opens at the Wynn this winter, Sartiano's will infuse the Wynn with a dose of New York cool, one that will likely play nicely with Zero Bond — or at least with the customers that pay the four-digit annual dues to frequent it (Sartiano's will be open to the public). Chef Portale is widely considered one of New York's most influential chefs, credited with shaping the 'big food' movement and mentoring a generation of culinary stars during his decades at Gotham Bar and Grill. At Sartiano's in New York — located inside the Mercer Hotel in SoHo — the vibe is sceney, with a menu that balances luxury and modern flash. Dishes include $48 caviar cannoli with crisp pastry shells filled with whipped mascarpone, rolled in black fish roe and chives. A selection of prime bistecca cuts features prized American and Japanese wagyu, including a 40-ounce Double R Ranch dry-aged bistecca alla Fiorentina, carved tableside and served with Brunello beef jus and salsa verde. And yes, Portale is importing those caviar cannoli from New York. The restaurant's design will lean mid-century modern, with bold, geometric patterns meant to echo Las Vegas style from the 1950s, according to the Wynn. Expect an arched ceiling and a distinctive terrazzo floor. It will be tucked into an alcove overlooking the Wynn Golf Club, with a bar, lounge, outdoor dining, and a private dining room, and will sit adjacent to Zero Bond. New York's Zero Bond draws a high-profile crowd, including Taylor Swift, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, and — notably — Mayor Eric Adams. The club has recently made headlines over a rumored potential acquisition by billionaire Tilman Fertitta, a Trump ally and U.S. ambassador to Italy, who has recently vowed to divest from his empire of over 600 restaurants. Fertitta also owns the Golden Nugget and is the largest individual shareholder of Wynn Resorts. Meanwhile, Sartiano's in New York is known both as a hotspot for Italian steakhouse fare and an influencer magnet. Prime Video Developing STEVEN UNIVERSE Spinoff LARS OF THE STARS
Steven Universe, one of the most beloved, highest rated animated series of all-time, said goodbye in early 2019. Later that year Steven Universe: The Movie arrived. But after the limited-run Steven Universe Future ended in 2020, it seemed like that might truly be the franchise's onscreen end. Turns out, thankfully for fans, it wasn't. It's officially getting ready to return to airwaves once again. Cartoon Network Studios has announced its developing a spinoff series, Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars, for Prime Video. Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe made a huge announcement during its Studio Showcase presentation at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Cartoon Network Studios revealed it is currently developing what it calls a 'follow-up' to the beloved series. Only, this new show will instead follow a different character from the original show, Lars Barriga. A different main character isn't the only major change. Unlike the original series, which aired on Cartoon Network for five seasons and 160 episodes, Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars is heading to Prime Video. It will also give viewers a chance to go both backwards and forwards through its own universe. Here's the show's official synopsis: From executive producers Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey, Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars explores the past, present and future of the Steven Universe universe. The sequel series follows Lars Barriga, eternal teenager and space outlaw, as he and his pirate crew smuggle contraband, evade the authorities, and uncover the darkest secrets of the fallen Gem Empire. This sequel/spinoff wasn't the only big news announced during the presentation. Cartoon Network also revealed Teen Titans Go! is a go for season 10. That's a really good day for animation fans for very different reasons. One of those show's we expected to return. The other we weren't sure we'd ever see again. But it's just hard to keep a good (Steven) universe down.
