Havildar Hangpan Dada made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Kupwara district, Jammu & Kashmir, in May 2016 at the young age of 36. His extraordinary act of valour and unwavering dedication to duty proved instrumental in foiling a major infiltration attempt and preventing enemy forces from creating disturbances in the sensitive border state. In recognition of his supreme sacrifice and gallantry, he was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime military decoration, in August 2016.
During the ceremony, Lt Gen Pendharkar personally interacted with the martyr's family, offering reassurance of the Army's and the nation's continued support. He also addressed ex-servicemen from Tirap and Longding districts, acknowledging their persistent commitment to national service.

Thane train mishap: Overcrowding? Brushing of bags? Or did metal object do it?
MUMBAI: Railway officials are probing multiple angles to find out the cause of Monday's freak accident near Mumbra station that killed four commuters and left nine injured. Initial indications were that the incident may have occurred when two trains crossed each other on a sharp curve. With coaches packed to capacity, passengers standing on footboards may have been pushed or may have lost their balance due to brushing of backpacks from the opposite train. The sharp curvature near the accident spot may have reduced the lateral gap between trains, increasing chances of contact. "It is possible bags of passengers on one train brushed against those standing precariously on the edge of the footboard on the other train," said a senior railway official. However, CR officials said the incident did not happen on the curve but closer to the station. By Monday evening, CR officials said they were also suspecting a metal object may have brushed against the CSMT-bound local. CR has launched a probe into scratch marks seen on the exterior of the last coach of that local. An eyewitness was quoted by PTI as saying, "Someone from the coach ahead of ours fell off after hitting a wall or something hit our coach." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo There is also the possibility the incident was triggered by a combination of factors -- overcrowding, jostling to board or alight, and at the same time bags of passengers brushing. There is intense overcrowding on the Thane-Karjat/Kasara stretch. Harried commuters say the daily experience of boarding or alighting itself is a fight. Railway authorities are also examining if a scuffle or sudden lurch due to braking could have contributed to the tragedy.

Sonam Raghuvanshi's murder plot exposed: 'Will marry you after becoming widow' – Raj Kushwaha reveals alarming details
INDORE: In a key development in the Raja Raghuvanshi honeymoon murder case, Raj Kushwaha — accused of conspiring with Sonam Raghuvanshi — has told Indore police that Sonam not only asked him to kill her husband but also discussed how to cover it up. As per the Indore police sources, Raj told the cops that he and Sonam discussed all the possibilities in the murder plot. As per the sources, Sonam contacted Raja on May 16 and made a chilling request: 'We will pretend it was a robbery.' She allegedly went further, asking Raj to eliminate Raja Raghuvanshi and promising, 'I will marry you after becoming a widow, my father would agree.' To erase traces of communication, Sonam destroyed her mobile phone, police say. Information provided by Raj Kushwaha is central to the case that has shocked the country — a murder allegedly plotted just days after a traditional marriage ceremony and executed during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya. The plot thickened after Raja's brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, levelled fresh allegations against Sonam. He accused her of staging her surrender, hiding crucial facts, and maintaining hours-long contact with Raj even after the murder. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Gentle Japanese hair growth method for men and women's scalp Hair's Rich Learn More Undo Vipin claimed Sonam's mother was aware of the affair and deliberately withheld this from Raja's family, news agency ANI reported.
