75 days until Saints' season opener: Every player to wear No. 75
The New Orleans Saints will kick off their 2025 regular season with the Arizona Cardinals at home in the Caesars Superdome on Sept. 7, which is now 75 days away. We'll be counting down the days until kickoff by looking back on every Saints player who wore the corresponding jersey number.
Who stands out in No. 75? Defensive end Bruce Clark (1982-1988) was a key player for the Saints in his day, having won a Pro Bowl nod in 1984. Lately it's been used by left guard Andrus Peat (2014-2023) who was selected for three Pro Bowls as an alternate. But when Peat left the team in free agency last year, the No. 75 jersey was picked up by Taliese Fuaga, and he wore it proud as a rookie left tackle before going back to his college position on the right side this spring. Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The Buffalo Bills agreed to a four-year, $48 million contract extension with James Cook, the Pro Bowl running back confirmed Wednesday on social media. The pact includes $30 million guaranteed, the most paid to a running back in the last five years. Cook, 25, was entering the final year of his rookie contract. The fourth-year running back totaled a career-high 1,567 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns over 17 games in 2023. He totaled 1,267 yards from scrimmage and scored 18 times, including a league-high and franchise record-tying 16 rushing touchdowns, over 16 starts in 2024. Cook was in full uniform and a full participant in practice Tuesday, ending a four-day hold-in. He also missed the Bills' first preseason game. The Bills will participate in a joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Friday in Chicago, and the Bears will host the Bills in their second preseason game at 8 p.m. EDT Sunday in Chicago. They will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their preseason finale Aug. 23 in Tampa, Fla. Cook and the Bills will host the Baltimore Ravens in their regular season opener Sept. 7 in Orchard Park, N.Y.

ESPN's Seth Walder clearly does not think all that highly of Darnold and is expecting the Seahawks to have a different player under center as soon as 2027. As a matter of fact, Walder is predicting Seattle to even make it all the way to the Super Bowl that season ... sans Darnold. That being said, the USC product does have some solid playmakers available to him in Seattle, most notably in the form of wide receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. Rookie receivers Tory Horton and Ricky White III could be sleepers, as well. But does Darnold have enough support around him to replicate his 2024 campaign? Or is he doomed to failure in the Pacific Northwest? With the Saints having so many other options in their backfield, Davenport is right in asserting that Edwards-Helaire is absolutely on the chopping block. The 26-year-old has certainly not materialized like everyone hoped when the Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Edwards-Helaire did show some promise in Year 1, registering 803 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.4 yards per carry while also catching 36 passes for 297 yards and a score. However, it did not take long for the LSU product to experience a sharp downturn. The following season, Edwards-Helaire totaled 517 yards while reaching the end zone four times as a rusher, playing in just 10 games. Injuries have largely derailed him ever since, with the Baton Rouge, La. native appearing in just 37 contests over the last four seasons. That season, he logged 223 yards and a touchdown as a rusher, serving as Kansas City's No. 2 running back behind Isiah Pacheco. At this point, Edwards-Helaire's NFL future is undoubtedly in jeopardy, especially if the Saints end up releasing him before the start of the season. He definitely had a strong collegiate career, racking up 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns on 6.6 yards per attempt during his final year at LSU, but that obviously has not translated onto the professional level.
