West Ham United Sign Kyle Walker-Peters From Southampton On Three-Year Deal
He made 202 appearances for Southampton but, after they were relegated from the Premier League last season, left following the expiry of his contract.
Walker-Peters was on the verge of joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Besiktas, but the Turkish club said on Thursday they were no longer interested after Walker-Peters delayed his medical following interest from West Ham.
Walker-Peters, who has earned two senior caps for England, expressed his excitement at joining West Ham and is eager to begin pre-season preparations with his new teammates.
'I'm really excited. It feels like it has been a long time coming—I've been linked with a move to the Club in the past—and I'm just happy to be here now," he said in a club statement.
The defender cited manager Graham Potter as a major factor in his decision to join the club.
'I spoke to Graham Potter and he was a big, big part of me making the decision. I've always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well," said Walker-Peters.
'He spoke about the family feel at the Club, and that's what I'm all about. I'd like to think I'm going to be a good fit for West Ham United."
Comfortable playing on either flank, Walker-Peters adds both quality and depth to Graham Potter's squad ahead of the new season.
Potter, who has previously admired Walker-Peters from afar, is looking forward to finally working with the full-back.

Pep Guardiola reveals plans after Manchester City stint, hints at decade-long break
Pep Guardiola has confirmed he plans to step away from football management once his time at Manchester City comes to an end - and has hinted that his sabbatical could last up to 15 years. The 54-year-old Spaniard, who extended his contract with City last year to remain at the club until 2027, opened up about his future in an interview with GQ Spain, saying he has "more than decided" about taking a lengthy break from the game to focus on know that after this stage with City, I'm going to stop - that's for sure. It's decided, more than decided," Guardiola said. "I don't know how long I'll stop for - a year, two, three, five, ten, fifteen - I don't know. But I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body."The Manchester City manager, widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches of his generation, has enjoyed a historic spell at the Etihad Stadium. Since joining in 2016, he has led the club to 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, and global success in the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. However, the 2024-25 season marked a rare low point under Guardiola's leadership. City ended the campaign without a major trophy for the first time in eight years - finishing third in the Premier League, falling short in the Champions League, and losing the FA Cup final to Crystal on the scrutiny that comes with the job, Guardiola said: "I've spent four or five months this year in every away stadium with the crowd chanting, 'You'll be sacked in the morning.' There's no other profession - not architects, teachers, doctors, or journalists - where 60,000 people ask you to lose your job."Despite the criticism, Guardiola defended his team's performance over the past season. "It hasn't been that bad. We reached the FA Cup final and finished third - we didn't finish 12th," he said. "Even when I was winning, I didn't feel we were anything special. Now that we haven't won, I don't feel like a failure either."Guardiola remains optimistic about City's future, suggesting that the struggles of the past year could help lay the foundation for long-term success. "This season has been healthy for us. Success can confuse you. I think it will be good for the next five or ten years. And next season, we'll do better."Manchester City begin their 2025-26 campaign away at Wolves on August 16, with Guardiola set to lead the side for what could be his final chapter at the club. Beyond that, the Catalan coach appears ready to step away from the spotlight - perhaps for much longer than expected.- EndsMust Watch

'Don't Know How Long I'll Stop For': Pep Guardiola Confirms Break From Football After Man City Exit
Pep Guardiola reiterated his belief that he will take a significant break from football after his tenure at City ends in 2027. Pep Guardiola is a man of his word. The Manchester City boss has yet again confirmed that he will take a significant break from football management after his tenure at the Etihad ends. The 54-year-old Spaniard, who has become the most successful manager in Manchester City's history, has collected 18 trophies during his reign, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League crown. Though his current contract runs until 2027, Guardiola made it clear in a new interview with GQ Spain that his departure from the club will also mark a pause in his managerial career. 'I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure," Guardiola said. 'It's decided, more than decided." 'I don't know how long I'll stop for — a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen — I don't know. But I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body." In May, Guardiola had already hinted at his City exit, stating that he intended to leave once his current deal expires. Despite signing a contract extension as recently as November, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is clear about stepping away when this chapter closes. 'I've spent four or five months this year in every away stadium with the crowd chanting, 'You'll be sacked in the morning. They're going to fire you'," he noted. 'There's no other profession — architect, teacher, doctor, journalist — where 60,000 people ask you to lose your job." Last season proved testing both on and off the pitch. City were plagued by injuries, including a major blow in September when Ballon d'Or winner Rodri suffered a right ACL injury. The club suffered its earliest Champions League exit since the 2012–13 campaign and finished third in the Premier League, far from the dominance they've shown in previous years. Guardiola acknowledged that a downturn was inevitable. 'When you win six Premier Leagues, there comes a time when you go down. It's human nature… It's a process that had to happen. It took longer to happen, and when it did, it went deeper than we could have imagined." Despite the recent setbacks, Guardiola remains optimistic about the upcoming season — and about Manchester City's long-term prospects. 'Speaking on behalf of Manchester City, it has been very healthy for us," he said. 'Because success can confuse you. It hasn't confused us for many years, but this year the players have been injured a lot." He added that the adversity could serve as a springboard for future success. 'I think it will be very good for the next five or ten years. And next year, we'll do better." Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Manchester United Move Over Newcastle For Sesko? RB Lepizig Star Striker In High Demand: Report
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko prefers Manchester United over Newcastle, in a time when the Magpies' star striker Alexander Isak might leave amid Liverpool interest. RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has reportedly made clear his preference for a move to Manchester United over Newcastle United this summer, as both Premier League clubs prepare to battle for his signature. With Arsenal opting to sign Viktor Gyökeres instead, the race for Sesko's services has narrowed to two major contenders, setting the stage for a high-stakes transfer tug-of-war. Isak, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season, has been omitted from the club's pre-season tour of Asia, raising further doubts about his future at St James' Park. In anticipation of a potential departure, Newcastle have identified possible replacements, including Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, and Brighton's Yoane Wissa. However, Benjamin Sesko is believed to be their top target if Isak does leave. According to The Athletic, Newcastle have held a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old Leipzig forward and see him as a direct successor to Isak. Newcastle may have one clear advantage in the race: Champions League football. The Magpies will compete in Europe's top competition next season, while Manchester United—under new manager Ruben Amorim—will not be involved in any European tournaments. Despite this, Sesko is said to favour a move to Old Trafford. German journalist Guido Schäfer reported that the striker has already indicated his preference for joining Manchester United over Newcastle. This sentiment was echoed by Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, who revealed that United had previously attempted to sign Sesko last year. The club is now fully committed to revisiting the deal and is reportedly willing to meet the necessary terms to secure the highly rated striker. Multiple clubs have expressed interest in Benjamin Sesko, but as of now, no direct negotiations between RB Leipzig and any suitors have taken place. view comments First Published: July 28, 2025, 20:21 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
