Templegate's Galway Plate runner-by-runner guide
Senecia 2
MAKES no sense. Highly tried last season and ran well in blinkers over C&D in November. Looks held on form this year and may prefer softer. Others preferred.
Zanahiyr 4
ZAN the man. Was a cracking third in this last year. Losing run adding up but could bounce back for Gordon Elliott.
Jesse Evans 4
GREAT Jesse. Goes well at Galway, ran well over hurdles last time and stays this far. Strong traveller with a turn of foot. Live contender despite fairly testing weight.
Western Fold 4
BEST Western. On a roll with two emphatic wins at staying trips; improving rapidly and jumps well. Ground and track no issue. Big player if coping with 11st10.
Amirite 3
RITE stuff. Probably doesn't win as many as he should but often runs well like when fourth in the Topham an Aintree. Comes here off a win and isn't ruled out.
Nurburgring 5
RING of fire. Won Galway Hurdle in 2024 and impressed on latest chase win. He likes this trip and looks capable of better. Not a big price but he has a big chance.
Buddy One 2
ONE to miss. Tough hurdler with top-level form, but not the same force over fences. Flat winner this month and stays well but needs career best.
Down Memory Lane 3
UP and Down. Novice who won well at Navan but has struggled a little. Still unexposed and trip suits and could do better on this drop in class.
Three Card Brag 3
CARD sharp. Didn't enjoy the Grand National last time but still early days over fences and has more to offer.
Chemical Energy 2
CHEMICAL reaction. Runner-up in National Hunt Chase in 2023 but hit and miss since. Looks on the downgrade now and hard to fancy on recent evidence.
Ashdale Bob 2
BOB not job. Capable on his day around this trip and Harrington runners always respected. Modest run last time and needs to improve on that.
Jazzy Matty 3
WELCOME Matty. Won the Grand Annual at Cheltenham and stays this trip well. Pulled up last time but could bounce back. Best form on decent ground. Not discounted.
Anyway 4
WAY can pay. Improving chaser who was second at the Cheltenham Festival and won well at Kilbeggan. Has a good profile and staying potential. High on the shortlist.
Common Practice 3
PRACTICE improving. Good novice win at Thurles in March over similar trip and has won well here before. One of many who are capable of better.
Thecompanysergeant 4
COMPANY profits. Good second in the Festival Plate on last spin over fences and solid run over hurdles latest. Only 2lb higher and from top yard. Contender.
Duffle Coat 2
GET me Coat. Comes here badly out of form and is struggling to finish a race. On the plus side, he was second in this last year so could bounce back now.
Shecouldbeanything 2
ANYTHING goes. Solid mare with graded chase form but only a fair run in the Irish Grand National last time out Needs to find more off current mark.
Zenta 2
ZEN won't master. Talented mare but poor jumper and flopped badly on past two outings. Needs the blinkers to wake her up again.
Adamantly Chosen 2
NOT Chosen. Has some quality and ran okay at Punchestown last time. Has come up short a few times in races like this. Pass despite Townend being up.
Sea Music 3
DEEP Sea. Won big race at Punchestown before dodgy jumping proved costly last time. Place claims if bouncing back.
Olympic Man 3
TOP Man. You never write off a Willie Mullins horse, especially off this sort of low weight and his best has come around this trip. Was poor at Sandown latest but could do better here.
Gaelic Arc 3
UPWARD Arc. Beaten in a photo last time at Killarney and has some fair handicap chase form. One of the better huge prices.
Templegate's Galway Plate tip and 1-2-3 prediction
NURBURGRING can motor to victory in the Galway Plate.
Joseph O'Brien's charge has a Galway Hurdle win on his CV and stays this trip well. He ran well at Cheltenham earlier this year and has more to come.
Western Fold arrives in great heart after dominant wins at Tipperary and Ballinrobe. He's improving fast and could be a Grade 1 horse in time.
Zanahiyr ran a cracker in this last year so a return to form would be no surprise.
Jesse Evans was impressive when winning a Tipperary Grade 3 hurdle last time and was a winner here over fences last season.
Others with form claims include Thecompanysargeant and Anyway.
1st Nurburgring
2nd Western Fold
3rd Zanahiyr

Horse racing tips: ‘He runs off a good-looking mark' – Templegate's Thursday NAP runs at Chepstow

Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up APACHE OUTLAW (7.00 Chepstow, nap) Trainer Ado McGuinness went close with this five-year-old at Galway last week and can go one better in this handicap over seven furlongs. The Welsh track has a fair bit in common with Ballybrit as they are both something of a rollercoaster ride with their undulations. He was more than a little unlucky in Ireland last week when he was full of running turning for home but had to wait an eternity for a gap to open. By the time it did the winner had gone just too far clear. But that was still an excellent effort and he comes here off the same mark of just 78. He was winning on the all-weather off 94 at Christmas so looks pretty well treated over a trip that suits. DANGERMAN (7.15 Sandown, nb) He really enjoyed dropping back to this distance for the Gosden's last time and won going away. The fact he stays further is always a positive at Sandown and a 4lb rise in the weights is more than fair. TADREEB (8.20 Sandown, treble) Better known as an all-weather horse but went close in good company at Ascot on his turf return last time out. He finished strongly over the seven-furlong trip so this move up to a mile should pay dividends off a lowly handicap mark. REGALLY BLONDE (5.15 Yarmouth) Completes the Lucky 15. She has barely put a foot wrong this season and the handicapper has been fair with a 1lb rise for her neck second at Nottingham. Alexander Isak reports for Newcastle training after rest of squad leave

The 25-year-old Sweden international did not travel with his team-mates on their pre-season trip to Singapore and South Korea, ostensibly because of a minor thigh injury, after Liverpool, who subsequently tabled a £110million bid for him, let it be known they remained interested in acquiring his services. Isak, who later informed the club he wanted to explore his options this summer, instead flew to Spain to train at former club Real Sociedad and returned to Tyneside at the weekend, shortly before head coach Eddie Howe and his squad landed back from Seoul and were given two days off. The players were back at the training ground on Wednesday morning and their families were invited to join them after training. However, the PA news agency understands Isak, who reported back to the club's Benton base on Monday, was told not to come in until after they had left and was pictured arriving at around 1550. The £63million frontman has been a huge hit since his arrival from Sociedad during the summer of 2022 and played a key role last season as they ended their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy with the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League for the second time in three seasons. However questioned about his absence in South Korea, Howe signalled that his actions might have repercussions. The 47-year-old told reporters: 'You have to earn the right to train with us. We are Newcastle United. 'The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad – you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here. 'We will make sure that any player earns the right to train with the group. No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.' Isak is understood to have undergone treatment and light training at a deserted training ground on Monday and it remains to be seen whether he will have any involvement in the club's pre-season fixtures against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid this weekend. The striker faces clear-the-air talks with Howe, with his situation becoming seemingly more complicated by the day as a difficult transfer window threatens to spiral further out of control. Newcastle tabled an improved club record bid for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko on Monday in an effort to beat Manchester United to the punch, but developments since suggest the 22-year-old is more likely to head for Old Trafford than St James' Park. That would represent the latest blow in a transfer window which has already seen the Magpies miss out on major targets Dean Huijsen, Bryan Mbeumo, Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, James Trafford and Liam Delap. They have managed to recruit Nottingham Forest wide man Anthony Elanga and, on loan, Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, but with frontman Callum Wilson and midfielder Sean Longstaff having left, there is significant work to be done, with the start of the new season just 10 days away. Howe was already looking for a striker before the Isak situation came to a head and, with three years remaining on the Swede's current deal – he has so far resisted the club's overtures to sign a new contract – there seems to be little prospect of the club allowing him to leave either before they have secured a replacement or for much less than their £150m valuation, having already rebuffed Liverpool's initial approach. Meanwhile, sources on Tyneside have played down suggestions that Newcastle have tabled a bid for AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw, but it is understood they are maintaining an interest in the Germany international.
