Elite 2027 4-star QB has announced his commitment date
After receiving a prediction from Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman to land with Texas A&M, Johnson's reported close relationship with Aggie OC Collin Klein, combined with the program's recruiting pipeline in Georgia, has played a significant role in gaining ground with the standout athlete. On film, Johnson is still developing in the pocket, needing to be more fluid and mobile against pressure, but is by far one of the top passers among the rest of the 2027 QBs.
Ahead of his junior season at Lowndes High School, Johnson made his mark during his 2024 sophomore season after throwing for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns, and three interceptions, paired with over 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Texas A&M's future at quarterback should include current starter Marcel Reed after the 2025 season, while redshirt freshman Miles O'Neill and 2026 4-star commit Helaman Casuga will likely be the next two names on the 2026 depth chart.
According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.

Sonny Dykes talks about opener against UNC, Bill Belichick
See what Sonny Dykes had to say about UNC's opener against UNC We are under a month away from kickoff for the college football season, and for the North Carolina Tar Heels, they are ushering in a new era under Bill Belichick. The Tar Heels will play host to TCU on Labor Day in primetime as they are the standalone game for ESPN. It will be a huge game for both programs as Chapel Hill should be electric for the game. But as we continue to countdown the days, TCU head coach Sonny Dykes had a comment on the opener. Dykes spoke at the Texas High School Coaches Convention recently, calling the opener against UNC 'interesting'. "We have an interesting opener against North Carolina on Labor Day," Dykes said. "That will be a big challenge for us getting ready for a tough road game against an opponent that's obviously got a pretty impressive resume when it comes to coaching in Bill Belichick. "There's going to be a whole lot of things we're not going to have the opportunity to prepare for and a lot of unknowns. We've got to make sure we do a good job making sure our players are ready to go play." Dykes wasn't taking a shot at UNC or Belichick at all. Instead, he was praising the head coach in his first year at the college level. It's going to be a tough challenge for the Tar Heels as TCU is no slouch. But getting off to a good start will be key as well for Belichick and his team. Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith injured at training camp, HC Mike Tomlin gives update
Another injury has struck the Pittsburgh Steelers at training camp. Following Sunday's practice at training camp, HC Mike Tomlin revealed to reporters that OLB Alex Highsmith had suffered a groin injury. "The only new injury to mention, Alex Highsmith didn't finish," Tomlin said. "Don't know the severity of it. Over here on the one-on-one pass rush, he stopped. He said he felt, maybe his groin, but we'll evaluate it and be more definitive next time we talk — not only about the injury but the significance of it." Highsmith has previously dealt with several groin injuries in his career, missing one game in 2021 and three games in 2024. Hopefully, his groin injury isn't as serious this go-around, but the Steelers do boast incredible depth behind him — underrated pass rusher OLB Nick Herbig and talented rookie OLB Jack Sawyer. We at Steelers Wire will provide an update on Highsmith when more information on the extent of his injury becomes available — but fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for one part of the best edge-rushing duo in the NFL.
