'Ridley' Season 2 Cast: Meet The Returning And New Characters And Actors Who Play Them

Elle5 days ago
After what felt like an eternity, Adrian Dunbar has gracefully returned to our screens, bringing his brooding consultant detective Alex Ridley back for another season of ITV's compelling crime series, Ridley.
The second series marks the beginning of Ridley's latest chapter, where Dunbar's beloved protagonist once again partners with the sharp-witted DI Carol Farman (played by Bronagh Waugh) to unravel mysteries that would challenge even the most seasoned investigators.
The new series opens with an episode called A Sleeping Tiger, a haunting tale that sees Ridley and Farman investigating the murder of Ryan, a young man whose life is cut tragically short just hours after his release from police custody. Initially a suspect in a jewelry heist, Ryan's story becomes something far more complex and devastating.
Each of the four episodes of Ridley promises a standalone mystery, ensuring fresh faces and new intrigue while keeping our cherished regulars exactly where we want them — front and centre. Consider this your go-to guide of who's who in Ridley season two.

Why was Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd attacked in Asda?

Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd was "really beat" by an elderly woman in a supermarket when he was just 12 years old. The 37-year-old actor - who has played David Platt in the ITV soap since 2000 - recalled going shopping with his mum Janet when they were accosted by an "old" lady, who was unimpressed by his soap alter ego, prompting his parent to intervene when she lashed out. Jack told his Coronation Street co-star Ben Price, 54, and his former soap colleague Colson Smith, 27, on the latest episode of their On the Sofa podcast: "I was recognised by an old woman in the freezer section. I was with my mum doing the big shop. "And [the woman] started to hit me with a handbag. "Before saying anything. She was so furious to see me. "I was just cheeky. So I'd have been 12. "[The woman] full on really beat me with a bag. "My mum went up [to the woman]. I think my mum kind of like half laughed it off and went, 'It's not real.'" Elsewhere in the podcast, Jack remembered he once faked being a Co-Op worker so police could stop die-hard Coronation Street fans from mobbing him. The soap star switched on the Christmas Lights in the West Yorkshire town of Kippax, and thousands of people turned up to see him kick off the festive celebrations Once the lights had been switched on, Jack recalled a "siege" of people rushing towards him, and he had to seek refuge in a nearby Co-Op supermarket. He said: "There was a sea of people [that] turned up to see a young David Platt. I must have been about 13, 14, something like that. Really young. "And I turned on their Christmas lights, and there was a siege. "They all started to head towards [me] and tried to climb on the stage. "They tried to get on, and I had to be escorted into the Co-Op. "[The Co-Op staff] had to lock the doors of the Co-Op. All the Co-Op workers were in there, and we couldn't get out because they surrounded the building. "I couldn't get out and go through the crowds because there were too many [fans]." Worried that Jack's safety was at risk, police escorted him out of Kippax. He dressed up as a Co-Op worker and hid his face to avoid being seen by a rush of fans, but his disguise did not work. Jack revealed: "Honestly, [there were] too many [fans]. We had to then get a police escort out of Kippax. "The police were called because I was a small child. "And police escorts had to arrive on motorbikes, and they had to put blue lights on, blue light me out. "I had the hat and I had the t-shirt. "I was going out, I was going out through the crowds, keeping my head down [as a] Co-Op worker. And I got into the car. "And I handed the hat back to one of the Co-Op workers. "And then [all the fans] turned like zombies. And they all went, 'He's there!' And they all ran towards me. "And I dived in the car. And the police had to blue light me out [of Kippax]. "And I remember physically watching the police on the bikes, and they were kicking people back. They were literally kicking people back."

Is ‘Kin' returning for season 3? Everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on August 14, 2025, 20:30 IST Last updated August 14, 2025, 17:47 IST Alright, Kin fans, let's talk about the big question on everyone's mind: are we getting a third season of this addictive Irish crime drama? The Kinsella family's gritty world of Dublin gangland has us hooked, and after two wild seasons, we're dying to know what's next. So, is Season 3 a sure thing, or are we just wishful thinking? Here's everything floating around out there as of mid-August 2025. Will There Be a Kin Season 3? No official word yet on Kin Season 3, but don't lose hope! The show's got a lot of buzz, and there's chatter that keeps fans optimistic. Back in September 2024, Emmett J. Scanlan (our boy Jimmy Kinsella) spilled some tea on ITV's This Morning . He said there's no green light yet, but networks are circling like sharks because Season 2 crushed it on BBC iPlayer, landing in the top five shows in February 2024. Scanlan even hinted at a possible 'bidding war' between broadcasters. How's that for juicy? Rewind to August 2023, and RTÉ, the Irish network that first aired Kin , was all in, saying they're working with global partners to bring it back. But here's the catch: Bron Studios, the main production company, hit a rough patch with a bankruptcy filing in 2023. That's thrown a massive curveball, tying up the show's rights in legal knots. Co-creator Ciaran Donnelly told JOE in December 2024 that they're fighting to sort it out, but it's a messy process with lawyers and all that jazz. Oh, and another hurdle? The cast's original contracts from 2020 expired after three years. That means getting heavyweights like Charlie Cox (Michael), Clare Dunne (Amanda), and Scanlan back would need new deals. Cox is especially tricky since he's off shooting Daredevil: Born Again . Still, Donnelly and Scanlan are hyped to keep going, with Donnelly saying they originally planned for at least five seasons. Fingers crossed! When Could Kin Season 3 Premiere? If everything falls into place—rights cleared, cast signed, cameras rolling—when might we get new episodes? Looking at past releases (Season 1 dropped September 2021, Season 2 hit March 2023), a late 2025 or early 2026 premiere seems possible if filming starts by mid-2025. Donnelly mentioned that even with a go-ahead now, production could take 6 to 10 months, so we're likely looking at mid-2026 at the earliest.
