Key Witness Identified In Bersatu Armada Exco Death Threat Case

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Police have identified a key witness in the investigation into a death threat case involving a company director who is also Bersatu Youth (Armada) exco.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said investigations found that the victim did not know the suspect who allegedly threatened to kill him.
He said two witnesses have been called so far, and their statements recorded to assist in the investigation.
'Police have also identified a key witness in this case, who will be called in to have a statement recorded. We believe this witness could provide crucial information in identifying those involved and shedding light on the motive behind the threats made against the complainant,' he said in a statement today.
However, he said, so far, no arrests have been made against any individuals in connection with the case.
He said police are actively working to identify the suspect and are investigating the case from all possible angles, while also prioritising the safety of the complainant.
'The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication,' he added.
'The public with any relevant information is urged to contact investigating officer Insp Pang Wei Keong at 013-208 2391 or the head of the District Criminal Investigation Division DSP Rosdi M. Husin at 013-392 0694,' he said.
Earlier, media reported that Armada exco Na'im Brundage claimed he had received death threats, including threats of being splashed with acid by unknown individuals.

District police chief Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar said the remand application for the 36-year-old suspect was made before magistrate Norshazwani Ishak at the magistrate's court here today. "The suspect, who was detained in connection with the discovery of the child's body buried near Rompin last Monday, was brought to the magistrate's court for a remand application this morning. "The court granted a seven-day remand order starting today until next Thursday to assist in the investigation," he said when contacted today. Earlier, the suspect, dressed in an orange lock-up uniform, arrived at the court compound accompanied by officers from the Jempol district Criminal Investigation Division. The suspect was handed over to the district police headquarters yesterday after his remand in Johor concluded. The victim's father had been held on remand there since last Friday. Johor police had been investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, Section 323 of the Penal Code, Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, and as a missing person case, while the murder case is being investigated by the Negri Sembilan police contingent. On Monday, the body of a six-year-old boy who had been reported missing from Taman Bukit Indah, Iskandar Puteri, Johor, on July 24, was found buried in the Rompin area of Jempol. A post-mortem on the boy's body revealed that the cause of death was strangulation using a cable tie.

Tumpat District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Khairi Shafie, said his department is aware of a viral social media post making the claim. 'For the public's information, the police have strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) regarding the handling of detainees' personal belongings, including identity cards. All items are properly recorded and securely stored in a designated storage room,' he said in a statement today. He said that the individual who made the allegations has five prior arrest records related to drug and criminal offences. 'The latest arrest was on July 2 under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. At the time of arrest, the individual did not possess an identity card and only provided verbal information to the police,' he said. Mohd Khairi advised the public to verify facts before sharing unverified information online, as it could mislead the public and tarnish the image of enforcement agencies.
