Al Bawaba23-06-2025
General Motors is proud to announce that the 2025 GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse have earned Top Safety Pick designations from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). These recognitions, awarded in March and April respectively, reinforce GM's long-standing commitment to safety and highlight the company's ongoing efforts to build vehicles that help protect everyone on the road. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from motor vehicle crashes through research and evaluation and through education of consumers, policymakers and safety professionals. This achievement is the result of years of development, testing, and collaboration across GM's global safety, engineering, and manufacturing teams. Both the GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse are built at GM's Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant in Michigan, USA. Both vehicles underwent rigorous internal validation in addition to meeting the IIHS's stringent testing protocols. These recognitions affirm GM's capability to design and produce vehicles that meet some of the highest safety standards in the industry. As the Chief Marketing Officer for Chevrolet and GMC at GM Africa & Middle East, Furrukh Jawaid said, 'Being recognized by IIHS is a proud moment for GM and underscores our ongoing commitment to safety as a core brand value. It's a testament to the collaborative work of our global teams across engineering, safety, and manufacturing who bring this vision to life. As we pursue our goal of a future with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion, safety remains at the forefront. Our customers place their trust in us every time they get behind the wheel, and we take that responsibility seriously. These accolades are not just awards, they are a reflection of our promise to deliver safe, reliable vehicles for every journey.'The 2025 GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse feature a comprehensive suite of standard and available safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, and blind zone steering assist. These systems are supported by robust vehicle structures and occupant protection technologies designed to perform in real-world crash scenarios. Moreover, Daniel Oden, Regional Quality Manager at GM Africa & Middle East added, 'The IIHS Top Safety Pick awards for the GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse reflect our deep and ongoing commitment to vehicle safety. From concept to production, our teams work with precision and purpose to ensure every safety standard is met and exceeded. These recognitions are the result of extensive engineering, rigorous testing, and a clear focus on protecting drivers, passengers, and everyone sharing the road. Safety is not an added benefit. It is a fundamental principle that guides our development process and informs every decision we make.' GM's approach to safety extends beyond vehicle design. A human problem requires a more human solution. That's why GM looks at safety differently. Road safety is not just about vehicle features, it's also about understanding the behaviors, environments, and systems that contribute to crashes. GM takes a holistic approach, combining research, data analysis, technology development, and community advocacy to help reduce traffic injuries and fatalities. This includes partnerships with academic institutions, nonprofits, and public entities to support traffic safety and systemic change.
For customers, these awards offer assurance that the vehicles they drive meet rigorous safety standards and are equipped with features designed to help protect their families. As GM continues to invest in new safety innovations, the company remains focused on raising the bar for what safety can and should look like across the automotive industry.

Gartner Identifies the Top Strategic Trends in Software Engineering for 2025 and Beyond

Gartner, Inc. announced the top strategic trends in software engineering for 2025 and beyond. These trends enable organizations to accelerate innovation through AI-driven automation and adopt efficient, future-ready engineering practices.'AI-enabled tools and technologies are fundamentally changing how software is built and delivered,' said Joachim Herschmann, VP Analyst at Gartner. 'Gartner's top trends offer leaders a roadmap to harness AI-driven automation, optimize talent strategies and adopt sustainable, AI-native engineering practices. Software engineering leaders who act on these trends now will position their organizations for long-term success.'As organizations develop their strategic roadmap for 2025 and beyond, they must prioritize investments that align with these six strategic trends in software engineering:AI-Native Software EngineeringAI-native software engineering is transforming the software development life cycle (SDLC) by embedding AI into every phase, from design to deployment. These practices enable AI to autonomously or semi-autonomously handle a significant share of tasks across predicts that by 2028, 90% of enterprise software engineers will use AI code assistants, up from less than 14% in early 2024. The role of developers will shift from implementation to orchestration, focusing on problem solving and system design, and ensuring AI tools deliver high-quality outcomes. To succeed, teams must balance automation with human oversight, considering business criticality, risk and workflow LLM-Based Applications and AgentsLarge language models (LLMs) are transforming software engineering by enabling applications to interact intelligently and autonomously, similar to human interactions. Gartner predicts that by 2027, at least 55% of software engineering teams will be actively building LLM-based features.'Successfully building LLM-based applications and agents requires software engineering leaders to rethink their strategies,' said Herschmann. 'This means investing in upskilling, experimenting with generative AI (GenAI) outputs and implementing strong guardrails to manage risks.'GenAI Platform EngineeringGenAI platform engineering leverages established platform engineering approaches to help developers easily discover, integrate and securely use GenAI capabilities within their applications. Gartner predicts that by 2027, 70% of organizations with platform teams will include GenAI capabilities in their internal developer making AI capabilities easily discoverable through self-service developer portals, prioritizing features based on developer needs and embedding robust governance and security practices, leaders can ensure their teams build innovative applications that comply with organizational Talent DensityTalent density—the concentration of highly skilled professionals within teams—has become a key differentiator for high-performing engineering organizations. When supported by the right culture and technology strategies, talent-dense teams can operate with greater efficiency and adaptability, delivering increased customer value.'To remain competitive, organizations must move beyond traditional hiring practices and focus on building teams with high talent density,' said Herschmann. 'Leaders should cultivate a culture of continuous learning and collaboration to attract and retain skilled professionals who can adapt and grow with evolving business needs.'Growth of Open GenAI Models and EcosystemOpen GenAI models are reshaping the enterprise AI landscape by offering greater flexibility, lower costs and freedom from vendor proprietary models, open GenAI models enable organizations to customize, fine-tune and deploy AI solutions tailored to their specific needs, whether on-premises or on-cloud. This shift is making advanced AI capabilities more accessible and cost-effective for a wider range of teams and use predicts that by 2028, 30% of total global enterprise spend on GenAI technologies will be on open GenAI models tuned for domain-specific use Software EngineeringGreen software engineering is the discipline of building sustainable software that is carbon-efficient and carbon-aware. This approach shifts the mindset from treating the environmental impact of software as an afterthought to incorporating green practices from the start, in every stage from planning to production.'As organizations build and buy more software as part of digital initiatives, the increase in carbon footprint from compute-intensive workloads can be at odds with their sustainability targets,' said Herschmann. 'Building intelligent applications with GenAI is energy intensive, making green software engineering practices essential.'Gartner clients can read more in Top Strategic Trends in Software Engineering for how to identify customized focus areas for improvement using the Gartner Software Engineering Leaders Effectiveness CIO & IT Executive Conference Gartner analysts will provide additional analysis on insights and trends shaping the future of IT and business, including accelerating business transformation, application modernization, infrastructure and operations at the Gartner CIO & IT Executive Conference, taking place September 22-24 in São Paulo and October 6-8 in Dubai.
