End percentage raj in state: BJP to Cong
Hyderabad: BJP National Vice President and Member of Parliament DK Aruna urged the Congress government in the state to stop looting and focus on development. While addressing the media on Friday after attending the 'BJP Bharosa' program—where party representatives interact with the public to address their concerns—she alleged that a 'Percentage Rule' is prevalent in Telangana. Under this rule, pending bills are only paid if 30 per cent is first paid as a bribe. The corruption chain continues in the state, with many families of key leaders involved in this practice, she alleged. 'This isn't just speculation; the Congress party ministers and key leaders have openly acknowledged it.'
Telangana is still being looted and needs to prioritise development. 'We have already raised concerns about the RR tax collection in the state. From Rahul Gandhi to Revanth, it appears that everyone is receiving bribes. There seems to be no shortage of funds for corruption, yet the government claims there is no money to fulfil its promises,' she alleged.
The Telangana BJP is committed to fighting until this corrupt regime is dismantled, she added.
Turning her ire on the State Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, she said, the cabinet met and discussions lasted five hours. 'All exepcted the meeting would address and resolve several issues faced by the people and the state. However, when state employees requested five pending dearness allowances (DAs), they were given only one. This is another instance of cheating government employees.
Does the Chief Minister not feel ashamed? If the government is honest, it would immediately release the remaining DAs owed to employees,' she said.
'The decision to form a Healthcare Trust appears to be misleading employees; we want action, not empty promises,' she said.
D K Aruna said contractors are hesitant to bid for development works in the state, and the condition of roads has deteriorated significantly. Development works in the state are predominantly funded by the central government. While the state government now claims it will build roads—which is a positive step—contracts should be awarded to those who lost contracts in the past. However, the BJP MP took strong exception for bringing contractors from neighbouring states who are being favoured to settle pending bills, 'neglecting local contractors who have already incurred losses. Pending bills should be released without requiring a percentage cut,' she demanded.
'Furthermore, a public referendum should be held regarding the Alampur ethanol factory. Setting up such industries without proper approval creates issues that have to be addressed.
The government should engage in dialogue with farmers about these initiatives. The focus should be on irrigation project works statewide, especially reviewing the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Detailed Project Report (DPR). It is known that the capacity of the Guden Doddi under Nettempadu is set to be increased, which will not be beneficial. Reservoirs should be built by sourcing water from the Jurala,' she added.

In his article, Gandhi outlined a five-step process he claimed was used to tilt the Maharashtra election. 'Step 1: Rig the panel for appointing the Election Commission Step 2: Add fake voters to the roll Step 3: Inflate voter turnout Step 4: Target the bogus voting exactly where BJP needs to win Step 5: Hide the evidence," the Leader of Opposition wrote in his post. 'It's not hard to see why the BJP was so desperate in Maharashtra," Gandhi wrote in his post. 'But rigging is like match-fixing – the side that cheats might win the game, but damages institutions and destroy public faith in the result." 'All concerned Indians must see the evidence. Judge for themselves. Demand answers," Gandhi added. He also warned that what happened in Maharashtra could be repeated elsewhere. 'The match-fixing of Maharashtra will come to Bihar next, and then anywhere the BJP is losing," he said, calling match-fixed elections are a 'poison" for any democracy. Congress never flagged discrepancies: EC sources on Rahul Gandhi's charge of rigging in Maharashtra poll
Underscoring that match-fixed elections are a "poison" for any democracy, Gandhi wrote that the side that cheats may win the game, but it damages institutions and destroys public faith. In a post on X, the Congress leader outlined the alleged electoral irregularities in a stepwise manner -- fake voters added, the voter turnout inflated, bogus voting facilitated and evidence subsequently hidden. Rejecting the claims, the sources underlined that 6,40,87,588 (over 6.4 crore) voters who reached the polling stations between 7 am and 6 pm exercised their franchise in the Maharashtra polls. About 58 lakh votes, on an average, were polled every hour, they said. Going by the average trend, nearly 1.16 crore voters could have voted in the last two hours, the sources added. "Therefore, the casting of 65 lakh votes by electors in two hours is much below the average hourly voting trend," an EC functionary pointed out. The sources noted that the voting progressed in the presence of the polling agents formally appointed by the candidates or political parties at every polling booth. The Congress candidates or their authorised agents had not raised "any substantiated allegation" regarding any kind of abnormal voting at the time of scrutiny before the returning officers and election observers the next day, they pointed out. On the issue of alleged fudging of electoral data, the sources said voter lists in India, including in Maharashtra, were prepared according to the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. According to the laws, either just before an election or once every year, a special summary revision of the electoral rolls is conducted and its final copy handed over to all national or state political parties. After the finalisation of the electoral rolls for the Maharashtra election, as against the 9,77,90,752 (over 9. 77 crore) electors, only 89 appeals were filed before the first appellate authority -- the district magistrate concerned -- and only one was filed before the second appellate authority -- the state chief electoral officer. "Therefore, it is amply clear that there was no grievance of the Congress or any other political party before the conduct of the Maharashtra Assembly election in 2024," the EC functionary said. During the voter-list revision, for more than one lakh polling booths, along with the 97,325 booth-level officers appointed by the electoral registration officers, 1,03,727 (over 1.03 lakh) booth-level agents were also appointed by all political parties. These included the 27,099 booth-level agents appointed by the Congress. The sources said more than one lakh booth-level officers of Maharashtra are still waiting for such "wild allegations" to be converted into at least one single real appeal before district magistrates in accordance with the election law against discrepancies in the voters' list.
