Zawyaa day ago
Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Bitcoin MENA Conference is returning to Abu Dhabi for its second edition, establishing itself as a leading event for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency innovation in the Middle East. Co-organised by ADNEC Group and BTC Media, the conference will feature influential speakers, interactive workshops, and a dynamic exhibition, all aimed at advancing digital finance and promoting the adoption of digital currencies.
Bitcoin MENA, is set to welcome renowned local and international industry leaders and will be headlined by Michael Saylor, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Strategy—the company formerly known as MicroStrategy. Attendees can look forward to Michael Saylor sharing his world-class insights on the future of cryptocurrencies, solidifying Bitcoin MENA as one of the region's premier events dedicated to the future of finance.
Michael Saylor is widely credited with transforming Bitcoin into a mainstream corporate treasury asset—will headline Bitcoin MENA, taking place December 8–9, 2025 at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi
Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, said: 'The return of Bitcoin MENA reaffirms Abu Dhabi's emergence as a global hub for digital asset innovation and thought leadership. Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to collaborate with BTC Inc. to further elevate the platform, uniting international leaders and the region's dynamic ecosystem for an even more impactful event.'
Brandon Green, Chief of Staff at BTC Inc, said: 'We're honored to host Michael at MENA this year for what will be his first Bitcoin conference appearance in the region! We're excited to combine the man pioneering capital market Bitcoin adoption with one of the most forward-looking economies in the world, in what will sure to be a historic keynote.'
From Business Intelligence to Bitcoin Standard
Saylor's bold pivot in 2020—to allocate the company's treasury into Bitcoin—rewrote the rules on corporate capital management. In the five years since, that strategy has protected shareholder value, sparked global media coverage, and inspired boardrooms around the world to rethink their approach to money.
'The money is getting weaker. The assets are getting more expensive. Bitcoin is the apex property of the human race.'
— Michael Saylor
And: 'There is no second best.'
Bitcoin MENA Returns to Abu Dhabi
Saylor's keynote marks a major milestone not only for the event—but for the region. Following a high-profile debut in 2024, Bitcoin MENA has cemented itself as a serious stop on the global Bitcoin calendar. Last year's event brought together leaders like Saifedean Ammous and Eric Trump, drew support from Binance, eToro, and M2, and welcomed thousands of attendees to ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi for two days of global capital, principled ideas, and unexpected moments—including a flag football match with NFL legends.
The 2025 edition builds on that momentum, bringing the global Bitcoin conversation back to the heart of the Middle East. With Abu Dhabi emerging as a key hub for energy, finance, and digital infrastructure, Saylor's appearance signals growing interest in how Bitcoin fits into long-term regional strategy.
Bitcoin MENA will once again gather industry leaders, high-net-worth individuals, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, public officials, content creators, and learners under one roof—for serious conversations about the future of money.

43,000 civil marriage contracts registered in Abu Dhabi Judicial Department

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has announced that over 10,000 civil marriage applications were submitted by foreigners to the Civil Family Court during the first half of 2025 — representing an increase of approximately 20% compared to the same period last year. This brings the total number of registered civil marriage contracts to 43,000 since the introduction of Law No. 14 of 2021 on Civil Marriage and its effects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Counselor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, affirmed that the growing demand for civil marriage services by foreigners reflects the high quality and uniqueness of this service in the Middle East. It underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to delivering innovative judicial services in line with the emirate's broader developmental progress, thereby enhancing its global competitiveness. Counselor Al Abri noted that the establishment of the region's first civil personal status court dedicated to foreigners marked a major milestone, positioning Abu Dhabi as a preferred destination for those seeking civil marriage services. The provision of services in both Arabic and English has played a key role in facilitating legal procedures for non-Arabic speakers. According to the Civil Family Court's statistical report, the number of registered civil marriages has grown significantly in less than three years — from approximately 5,400 in 2022 to over 16,000 in 2024, with 10,000 recorded in just the first half of 2025. This remarkable growth demonstrates Abu Dhabi's success in creating a modern legislative environment that meets family needs while supporting the emirate's economic objectives. It further cements Abu Dhabi's reputation as a hub for tolerance and cultural diversity, attracting talent and expertise from around the world. The advanced Civil Family Court model represents a transformative step in the regional judicial system. It enables foreigners to complete legal proceedings transparently, with a full understanding of each litigation stage — reflecting Abu Dhabi's dedication to the principles of inclusive justice. The Court offers a comprehensive, streamlined judicial experience, from application submission to judgment issuance, in both Arabic and English. This boosts client confidence, reduces time and procedural costs, and reinforces the emirate's appeal as a premier destination for living, investing, and resolving personal matters to the highest international standards. Key services offered by the Civil Family Court for foreigners include: • Civil marriage contracts • Pre-nuptial agreement notarisation • No-fault civil divorce in a single session within 30 days, with a financial expert appointed to calculate entitlements such as alimony • Automatic joint custody, ensuring equal parental rights following divorce • Civil wills drafting and registration • Equal inheritance distribution among children It is also worth noting that the Civil Family Court provides a full suite of electronic services without requiring residency in the UAE, making them accessible to residents, tourists, and visitors alike — ensuring smooth and efficient legal processes for all clients.

Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai pioneers Esports in education

Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD), part of the prestigious Nord Anglia Education group, is set to become the one of the first schools to offer the BTEC Level 2 qualification in Esports within the traditional curriculum – marking a bold new direction in how schools prepare students for the future world of work. Launching in August 2025 in partnership with EStars, the new elective will be open to students in Grades 6 and 7 and reflects SISD's commitment to equipping students for the careers of tomorrow. The Level 2 BTEC in Esports will sit alongside a range of exciting new electives which complement the MYP curriculum for our secondary students. Options include Instrumental Music (in partnership with The Juilliard School), Computer Science, Entrepreneurial Thinking, and Language Acquisition in French, German and Spanish. Students can choose one of the electives to study, which all represent an opportunity to do something different outside of the 'traditional' curriculum, within the school day. These electives will be in addition to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum, encompassing eight subject groups, including; Language Aquisition, Language and Literature, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education and Design. Esports is not about playing games – it is an introduction to a fast-growing billion-dollar global industry. This addition to the curriculum also aligns with the Dubai Future Foundation Programme for Gaming, which is expected to generate over 30,000 jobs by 2033. The BTEC in Esports is accredited by Pearson Education and offers students a unique opportunity to gain industry-relevant knowledge, build future-ready skills and develop a valuable network within the Esports ecosystem. Paul Gardner, Head of Secondary (Middle School) at SISD, said: 'At SISD, we believe education should be as dynamic and forward-thinking as the world our students are preparing to enter. Esports is one of the fastest-growing sectors globally – and by offering this qualification, we're helping students transform their passion into potential. This isn't just about gaming – it's about digital entrepreneurship, leadership, communication and innovation. We're proud to be leading the way in the UAE, and globally.' The Level 2 BTEC in Esports will offer pathways into a variety of roles within the sector, including team management, production and broadcasting, marketing, coaching, analysis, journalism, community management and event organisation. It will also strengthen transferable skills such as communication, collaboration and digital fluency – essential for any modern career. Mags Byrne, Founder and CEO of EStars, said: 'We are delighted to be working with the SISD team, to provide students with an innovative qualification to transform how students are prepared for the fast-growing global industry.' Whilst on the one hand, SISD has shown great innovation in responding to the emerging needs of tomorrow's job market, they are also grounded in the most up to date research regarding the pros and cons of technology use in schools. In secondary school, mobile phones are handed in and locked away in a classroom safe before lesson 1. Students don't have access to these devices again during the school day. Laptops and tablets are also not allowed in public spaces. These steps have led to enhanced socialisation and relationship building amongst students. During academic time, each lesson begins with a tech-free 10 minutes, to ensure that positive digital habits are embedded. Staff have undergone extensive PD, focused on the SAMR approach to tech use in school, meaning technology should only be integrated when they transform learning in ways that wouldn't be possible without them. The BTEC in Esports is designed to meet the changing needs of Dubai's community and to reflect the shifting career landscape awaiting the classes of 2031 and 2032. As industries evolve, SISD is committed to expanding its curriculum to ensure students not only meet academic benchmarks, but emerge with confidence, creativity and a deep understanding of the world they are entering. This latest addition to SISD's curriculum reflects the school's ongoing innovation and its mission to inspire and prepare students for meaningful futures as truly global citizens in a rapidly changing world. About: Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) is a leading international day and boarding school that blends a global outlook, bilingual approach, and Swiss culture, all while remaining firmly rooted in the Dubai community. Opened in 2015, SISD is the largest Swiss school outside of Switzerland, with over 2,600 students from more than 100 nationalities. With a mission to inspire confident and enthusiastic lifelong learners, SISD offers unique bilingual and STEAM programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and world-class education for students aged 3 to 18.
