Top new movies to watch this week on popular OTT platforms including The Amateur, Deep Cover, Snow White and more

This week brings a diverse lineup of new films hitting major streaming platforms like Prime Video, Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max, and Apple TV Plus. From gritty spy thrillers to psychological dramas and over-the-top comedies, there's something for every kind of viewer. Prime Video leads the charge with Deep Cover, a crime comedy about improv actors posing as gangsters. Meanwhile, The Amateur starring Rami Malek takes a slower, more emotional approach to espionage. Add in Disney's new Snow White remake, a high-rise thriller with Daisy Ridley, and a haunting mother-daughter mystery, and your week's movie watchlist is ready to go. This week's watchlist of movies on Amazon Prime, Disney Plus and Apple TV Clown in a Cornfield (PVOD) Based on the YA horror novel by Adam Cesare, Clown in a Cornfield follows a group of teens terrorized by a murderous clown named Frendo in rural America. While the premise promises campy fun, the final product stumbles with inconsistent tone, weak characters, and awkward humour. Still, slasher fans may enjoy the gory kills and eccentric costume design. If you're in the mood for late-night horror and don't mind some messiness, this might still scratch the itch. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Buy or rent on Amazon from June 10 The Amateur (PVOD) Rami Malek stars in The Amateur, a grounded espionage thriller that veers away from gadget-laden action and toward emotional intensity. After losing someone close, Malek's character of a CIA codebreaker defies agency protocol and dives headfirst into a covert revenge mission. Directed by James Hawes, the film favors quiet tension and inner conflict over car chases and explosions. Also starring Rachel Brosnahan, Jon Bernthal, and Laurence Fishburne, this is a thoughtful, moody watch for fans of serious thrillers. Buy or rent on Amazon from June 10 Snow White (Disney Plus) Rachel Zegler steps into the iconic role of Snow White in this live-action reimagining directed by Marc Webb. The film attempts to modernize the fairy tale with updated themes and original musical elements. While visually striking and featuring a charming lead performance, it falls short of recapturing the classic's timeless charm. Despite mixed reviews, younger audiences and longtime Disney fans may find it a cozy, family-friendly pick. Streams on Disney Plus from June 11 Deep Cover (Prime Video) In Deep Cover, Bryce Dallas Howard plays Kat, an improv teacher who unexpectedly finds herself helping an undercover cop (Sean Bean) infiltrate London's criminal underworld. She recruits two of her eccentric students (Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) to play fake gangsters, setting off a chain of chaotic and comedic events. This Prime Video original blends crime with quirky humour and theatre antics in a fresh, offbeat format. Streams on Prime Video from June 12 Absolution (Hulu) Liam Neeson stars in this noir-inspired drama as a worn-out mob enforcer grappling with memory loss and seeking reconciliation with his estranged daughter. While Absolution doesn't break new ground, it leans into the kind of gritty, emotionally heavy territory Neeson excels at. Directed by Hans Petter Moland, the film delivers a solid mix of brooding atmosphere and moral reflection. Streams on Hulu from June 13 Cleaner (HBO Max) Cleaner follows Joey (Daisy Ridley), a former soldier turned window cleaner who finds herself dangling outside a skyscraper during an eco-terrorist hostage crisis. Trapped between the attackers and 300 captives inside, Joey must use her military past to try and save lives. While familiar in structure, this action-thriller surprises with tight pacing and strong central performances, making for an unexpectedly satisfying watch. Streams on HBO Max from June 13 Echo Valley (Apple TV Plus) Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney lead this emotional psychological thriller written by Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. Moore plays Kate, a horse trainer living a quiet life until her daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives bloodied and shaken. What follows is a slow-burning unraveling of secrets, trauma, and moral ambiguity. With Domhnall Gleeson joining the cast as a mysterious figure from Claire's past, Echo Valley is poised to be a standout for fans of dark, character-driven drama.
