Kristen Stewart to Headline Dylan Meyer's "The Wrong Girls" for Neon
Kristen Stewart will topline "The Wrong Girls", a new Neon film marking the directorial debut of Dylan Meyer, which is up and running in Los Angeles — one of the first indies to kick off production following the devastating wildfires.
Others in the cast include Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale.
Written and directed by Meyer, "The Wrong Girls" follows Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Shawkat), codependent best friends living paycheck to paycheck and a bong rip to bong rip, when a case of mistaken identity throws their lives into chaos.
Neon will release the film in U.S. theaters and also reps international rights.
"The Wrong Girls" will be produced by Maggie McLean, Stewart and Meyer for Nevermind Pictures; Alex McAtee, James Weaver, Rogen and Evan Goldberg for Point Grey; and Allison Carter and Jon Read for Savage Rose Productions under their production and development partnership with Neon.
Overseeing for Neon will be Jason Wald, EVP Acquisitions & Production, Claire Timmons, VP Talent Relations, and Kate Gondwe, Manager ADP. The deal was negotiated with WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group.
"The Wrong Girls" marks the third collaboration between Stewart and Neon following Pablo Larraín's "Spencer" — which brought the actress her first Oscar nomination for her turn as Princess Diana — and David Cronenberg's Cannes selection "Crimes of the Future".
Stewart is coming off of rave reviews for her turn in Rose Glass' "Love Lies Bleeding" and wrapping production on her feature directorial debut, "The Chronology of Water".
She will next be seen in Michael Angarano's road trip comedy "Sacramento", out April 11, and in Panos Cosmatos' vampire pic "Flesh of the Gods" opposite Oscar Isaac, as well as making her TV debut in Amazon MGM's limited series "The Challenger," playing astronaut and physicist Sally Ride.

Czech Republic Selects "I'm Not Everything I Want to Be" for 2026 Oscar submission
Yara Sameh The Czech Republic has selected Klára Tasovská's documentary feature 'I'm Not Everything I Want to Be' as its official entry for the International Feature Film category of the Oscars following a controversial contest. The decision was announced Monday by the Czech Film and Television Academy. The documentary follows the life of photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková, drawing on her diaries and thousands of photographs. It depicts the underground movement in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s, her dramatic escape to West Berlin, and fashion shoots in Tokyo. The film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival last year and was awarded the Czech Lion for the best documentary feature this year. The CFTA changed its system for selecting its Oscar candidate this year, which ruffled feathers. Voting took place in two rounds. In the first round, a CFTA committee chose three films from those that had been submitted by their producers. The committee picked 'Broken Voices,' 'Caravan' and 'I'm Not Everything I Want to Be,' and recommended the academy members vote for 'Broken Voices,' a move that was slammed by some as being 'manipulative' and 'undemocratic.' The second round of voting took place from July 8 to August 8, and all eligible members of CFTA voted. A total of 194 votes were cast. The academy has 436 members. More controversy was stirred when 'Broken Voices' was attacked by a prominent member of the CFTA, producer Radovan Síbrt, who issued a letter claiming the movie 'shouldn't participate in the Oscar race at all' because 'there was a fundamental ethical failure in its creation.' The deadline to submit international feature selections to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is October 1. The Oscars shortlists are revealed on December 6, with 15 international films selected to be voted on by Academy members in all branches who commit to watching all 15 films. Oscar nominations will be revealed on January 22. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani

"Spider-Verse" Spinoff Movie "Spider-Punk" in Works with Daniel Kaluuya
Yara Sameh The Spider-Verse is expanding once again. 'Spider-Punk,' a spinoff of 2023's animated hit 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,' is in early development at Sony Pictures Animation. Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in the comic book sequel, and Ajon Singh are developing and co-writing the feature. Plot details haven't been sorted out, but the film will center on the punk-rock version of Spider-Man — aka Hobie Brown — whose main weapon is his guitar. Kaluuya's character was introduced — along with many other iterations of the beloved web-slinger — in the multiversal adventure 'Across the Spider-Verse.' He is expected to return in 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,' from producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal, who will also produce the 'Spider-Punk' project. It's unclear when 'Spider-Punk' will swing to theaters. For now, 'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,' the third entry in the web-slinging trilogy, won't be hitting the theaters until June 25, 2027. Though little is known about the threequel, the story picks up after the cliffhanger at the end of 'Across the Spider-Verse,' with protagonist Miles Morales (the main Spider-Man in this world) as a fugitive on the run while also trying to save his family from imminent danger. Sony's 'Spider-Verse' films have been critical and commercial winners, with the original 2018's 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' grossing $384 million globally — in addition to winning the Oscar for best animated feature — and the sequel amassing an impressive $690 million at the worldwide box office. Kaluuya broke out in 2017 as the Oscar-nominated star of 'Get Out.' The British actor has since appeared on screen in 'Black Panther,' Steve McQueen's crime drama 'Widows,' Jordan Peele's 'Nope' and the Fred Hampton biopic 'Judas and the Black Messiah,' which earned Kaluuya his first Oscar statue. He is also currently developing a live-action 'Barney' movie for A24 and Mattel. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
