A couple celebrated their baby's sex reveal during a May 30 flight to Paris with their roughly 200 fellow passengers
Expectant parents Katrín and Anton partnered with PLAY Airlines to pull off the surprise, which included festive decor, cake for all onboard and a gift for the baby-on-the-way
"We're incredibly grateful to the crew for making this such a special flight we'll never forget," the couple tells PEOPLEA pair of aviation enthusiasts came up with the perfect way to do their baby's sex reveal — at 30,000 feet aboard a plane to Paris.
Katrín and Anton pulled off the heartwarming celebration with help from PLAY Airlines and the flight's crew, who helped orchestrate the mid-flight surprise. The festivities were captured in a video shared on the airline's Instagram account that kicks off with a flight attendant making an unexpected announcement to passengers.
"You already know you're on a flight to Paris, but this isn't just any flight. In fact, this might be the first time in history that someone finds out the gender of their baby somewhere over the North Atlantic," the crew member can be heard saying.
Footage shows the plane's roughly 200 passengers each holding up a card with their guess for the baby's sex, before panning to Katrín and Anton standing in front of a colorful cake and using two champagne flutes to cut open the confection to reveal a layer of bright blue frosting inside.
"It's a boy!" the flight attendant then announced to the sounds of excited cheering from the cabin.
Katrín and Anton were gifted some PLAY-branded items for their little one, including a onesie and a hat, and the flight's passengers were served cupcakes to celebrate.
The airline captioned the Instagram video: "💗💙 It's a… This morning's flight to Paris came with a little extra excitement, a gender reveal at 35,000 feet. Because what better place to find out than mid-Atlantic, surrounded by 200 strangers and cake? Congrats to the happy couple and yes, of course there was cake for everyone 🎂✈️."
The couple exclusively tells PEOPLE the moment was "unforgettable."
'We couldn't have imagined a more perfect way to find out we're having a boy! This is our first child together, and to have the big reveal take place in the sky, was unforgettable," they say. "With two boys and a daughter between us, our little crew is getting bigger."

Hot Wheels And Maje's Summer Collaboration Proves Racing Meets Runway

The latest Hot Wheels x Maje collaboration proves nostalgia and sophisticated fashion have a place ... More on the market. Hot Wheels may have dominated your childhood toy box, but what began as simple children's playthings has evolved into a cultural phenomenon that captivates adult collectors worldwide. In the contemporary landscape, fashion partnerships have revolutionized how sports organizations and lifestyle brands connect with consumers, creating unprecedented opportunities for authentic engagement. From the Olympics to Formula 1, fashion has become inseparable from the sporting experience, elevating athletic events into style showcases that resonate far beyond traditional audiences. Yet, the worlds of high-octane racing and Parisian haute couture couldn't seem more different, but French fashion house Maje has bridged this gap with their latest fashion collaboration that shows how luxury fashion and nostalgic toys somehow go hand in hand. The Hot Wheels x Maje Spring/Summer 2025 capsule collection brings together the unbridled energy of the racetrack with the sophisticated elegance that has defined Maje's aesthetic for decades. This collaboration challenges traditional fashion boundaries by infusing automotive culture into premium womenswear, creating pieces that speak to both longtime Hot Wheels enthusiasts and fashion-forward consumers seeking something unique. The partnership represents a strategic pivot for both brands. For Hot Wheels, owned by Mattel, it's an opportunity to transcend the toy aisle and establish cultural relevance with adult consumers, particularly Gen Z and millennial women who grew up with the brand but have since evolved beyond its traditional demographic. For Maje, it's a chance to inject fresh energy into their collections while tapping into the powerful nostalgia market that has become increasingly influential in fashion. The range of red, whites, and blue color palette brings together racing culture and Parisian ... More fashion. The capsule collection itself is a masterclass in thoughtful design translation. Rather than simply slapping Hot Wheels logos onto existing silhouettes, Maje's design team has carefully deconstructed the DNA of the toy car brand and reimagined it through a distinctly feminine lens. The result is a collection that feels both authentic to Hot Wheels' high-energy spirit and true to Maje's sophisticated aesthetic. Key pieces include a pleated mini skirt paired with a matching crop top that captures the playful yet polished vibe of the collaboration. The denim jacket serves as the collection's statement piece, embodying the rebellious spirit of racing culture while maintaining the refined tailoring Maje is known for. Graphic hoodies and bold t-shirts offer more casual options, while a cozy varsity cardigan provides versatility for different styling occasions. Plus, racing stripes aren't merely applied as surface decoration but subtly integrated into the garment. What's also interesting is the color palette of vintage reds, creams, and grays draws directly from classic motorsport aesthetics next to flame graphics that resonate with the Hot Wheels' brand. The knit crop top paired with the pleated knit skirt work perfectly with an oversized leather jacket ... More for your summer outings. According to Elina Kousourna, CEO of Maje, the collaboration represents more than a simple brand partnership. "We loved the idea of bringing together two worlds that rarely meet: the unapologetic energy of Hot Wheels and Maje's effortless Parisian elegance," she explains. 'This collection is all about speed, boldness, and self-expression which is a playful detour from the everyday.' This sentiment reflects a broader shift in fashion toward cross-cultural collaborations that challenge traditional category boundaries. The partnership demonstrates how legacy brands can remain relevant by finding unexpected connection points with contemporary culture. For Hot Wheels, this collaboration is part of a larger strategy to evolve their intellectual property beyond traditional play experiences. Ruth Henriquez, Head of Licensing, Publishing, and LBE at Mattel EMEA, emphasizes the strategic importance of this move: "This collaboration with Maje brings Hot Wheels into premium womenswear in an unexpected way, and it's a meaningful step forward in our efforts to grow the brand's relevance with Gen Z and millennial women." The partnership represents what she calls "a statement about how legacy brands like Hot Wheels can show up in entirely new categories, build cultural momentum, and spark fresh conversations across industries." The Hot Wheels x Maje collaboration taps into something deeper than surface-level aesthetics, but leverages the emotional power of nostalgia in a wearable way. 'This isn't a literal translation of the toy, it's a modern, fashion-forward homage to the spirit of Hot Wheels: freedom, adrenaline, and pushing boundaries. That's why it resonates with both longtime fans and new audiences. It taps into nostalgia without being retro. Instead, it takes those core memories and reinvents them as wearable pieces that carry both emotional and stylistic weight,' Henriquez adds. Tap into the nostalgia that Hot Wheels evokes with accessories like this hat with the brand's ... More signature details. This approach is particularly relevant in today's market, where consumers increasingly seek authentic emotional connections with brands instead of contributing to never-ending consumerism. This collaboration, in particular, succeeds because it contextualizes childhood memories for an adult consumer base. The success of this collaboration will likely inspire other unexpected partnerships between fashion houses and brands from entirely different industries. It demonstrates that when done thoughtfully, these cross-sector collaborations can create genuine cultural moments that resonate with consumers on both emotional and aesthetic levels. As Kousourna notes, 'Fashion can't exist in a vacuum; it thrives when it connects with other worlds. Sport brings movement, adrenaline and purpose and at Maje, we love tapping into that space with a twist.' Set to launch in stores and online in June 2025, the Hot Wheels x Maje capsule collaboration represents more than just another limited-edition drop, but a glimpse into the future of fashion, where boundaries between industries blur and creativity thrives. The collection is live on Maje's page as of June 2025.

Snacks And Drinks From Queer-Owned Businesses For Your Pride Party

Pride Month is a time for celebration. However you plan to celebrate—whether you're attending the 50th anniversary of WorldPride in Washington, D.C., marching in a local parade or hosting friends at home—you're going to need drinks for toasting and snacks for sharing. This month and throughout the year, lean into the queer joy of it all by choosing foods and beverages produced by these LGBTQ-owned companies. Nothing says 'celebration' like a bottle of bubbles. If you're looking for something special to mark the occasion, opt for a bottle from Remy Wines. Owner Remy Drabkin is a queer icon in her own right—a winemaker, founder of Queer Wine Fest and former mayor of a small town in Oregon's Willamette Valley, which is known for producing exceptional pinot noir and chardonnay. Add a little extra sparkle to your day with its Black Heart Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine, while also supporting a worthwhile cause that aligns with the spirit of Pride Month. A portion of all sales from this particular wine go directly to the American Civil Liberties Union, a non-profit, non-partisan legal advocacy organization that defends human rights. If you're seeking something a little stronger, you can mix your own drinks and support another queer- and woman-owned business with a bottle from Anytime. As producers of the first regenerative organic gin and vodka, owners Maddy Rotman and Taylor Lanzet are trailblazers crafting more sustainable spirits. To keep things easy, try the canned cocktails, which include flavors like Cranberry Amaro and Spicy Salty Grapefruit. Besides being Pride Month, June also marks the official start of summer in the northern hemisphere. As temperatures rise, it's important to stay hydrated, especially if you're walking several miles along a Pride parade path in the heat of the day. Take care of yourself and your community by stocking up on electrolyte- and antioxidant-infused ShineWater and probiotic-rich GT Kombucha. As a bonus, the rainbow colors on the label of GT's 'Triology' flavor—made with raspberry, lemon and ginger—perfectly match Pride decorations, and the bottle is made of glass for easy recycling. Keep energy levels high for a full month of festivities with Equator Coffees, which sells both bags of whole beans and individual cold brew coffee bags, and Explorer, which offers ready-to-drink cold brew cans as well as chai concentrates. Besides their work as LGBTQ advocates, both companies are also organic and Fairtrade certified. Whether you're packing snacks with you or setting up a spread at home, Pipcorn has plenty of options to suit your salty and crunchy needs, from popcorns to cheese balls to corn chips. When you're feeling creative, you can add an extra dusting of queer flavor to the mix by topping your snacks with Diaspora Co.'s Popcorn Masala. For something more substantial, you may want to add its Taco Masala or Everything Grill spice mixes to homemade hummus or dips made with Rancho Gordo beans. For sweet cravings, order a box of truffles from the queer, Filipinia-owned chocolate shop Kokak Chocolates. Its Happy Pride selection includes a heart-shaped piece printed with the rainbow flag.
