Demolishing religious sites will invite divine wrath
Talking to PTI Videos, he said India is a religious country where people of all faiths — Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians — believe that the events in their lives are determined by the Almighty. 'We have angered him (God) by running bulldozer over temples, mosques and dargahs — places where his name is taken and where he is worshipped. If we destroy such places in arrogance, his mercy will not be with us and disasters will only increase,' Hasan said. The former MP stressed that all communities turn to their respective places of worship in times of distress. 'Hindus go to temples and pray to God to save them. Muslims go to mosques and beg Allah for mercy. Even the most difficult problems get resolved and prayers are accepted,' he said. Hasan added that tampering with such sacred spaces disturbs the spiritual balance. 'If we bulldoze the places where the creator's name is taken — the one who created the entire universe — then it is obvious that his blessings will not remain with us,' he remarked.
The former Moradabad MP also linked the worsening of natural calamities to environmental destruction. 'We have destroyed the ecosystem by cutting trees indiscriminately. This ecological imbalance has resulted in an increase in natural disasters,' he said.

Free bus travel in Andhra for girls, women, transgender persons from Aug 15
Amaravati, Aug 11 (PTI) All girls, women, and transgender persons holding Andhra Pradesh domicile are eligible for free bus travel under the 'Stree Shakti' (woman power) scheme, to be launched statewide on August 15, Principal Secretary (Transport, Roads & Buildings) Kantilal Dande said on Monday. 'Beneficiaries include all girls, women, and transgender persons with domicile status in Andhra Pradesh, subject to presenting valid identity proof," Dande said in a government order. The scheme will be implemented using the existing fleet of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), with additional buses to be procured based on demand, he added. Free travel will apply only to Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express, and Express services. It will not cover non-stop services, interstate operations, contract carriages, chartered services, or package tours. Saptagiri Express, Ultra Deluxe, Super Luxury, Star Liner, and all air-conditioned services are also excluded, he said. For passenger safety, the government is considering equipping staff with body-worn cameras and installing CCTV cameras in all buses. Bus stations will see upgraded amenities such as fans, chairs, drinking water, and toilets. Dande said the procurement of electric buses and extending the scheme to them could also be considered, subject to Cabinet approval. Free bus travel for women was a poll promise of the TDP-led NDA government ahead of the 2024 elections. The scheme is estimated to cost Rs 1,942 crore annually—about Rs 162 crore a month—and aims to empower women by improving access to education, jobs, and mobility, Minister K Parthasarathy had earlier said. Rahul Gandhi demands clean, pure voter list
Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the Opposition is protesting for the right to vote for every Indian, and demanded a 'clean and pure" voter list. He said the Election Commission is silent as the truth is before the entire nation, after his charge that over one lakh votes in an assembly constituency in Karnataka were found to be fake in a research conducted by his party. Gandhi participated in the protest march by Opposition MPs from Parliament House to the EC office, but was prevented midway by the police and detained. 'They (EC) cannot talk as the truth is before the entire nation," he said as he was being taken away in a bus by the police. 'This fight is not political, but for saving the Constitution," he asserted. view comments First Published: August 11, 2025, 13:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
