Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash trial delayed to July

Yahoo11-04-2025

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Due to the unavailability of a defense expert, the trial of Alan Booth, accused of driving drunk and hitting multiple people at the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade, was postponed Friday to July 21.
Booth, 73, was not present at Friday's hearing. He remains in custody at Lerdo Jail, held without bail.
Booth has pleaded not guilty to four counts of assault with a deadly weapon other than a gun, two drunken driving-related counts and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Three people were hit by Booth's pickup at the Dec. 7, 2023, parade; one suffered serious injuries.
A breath test indicated Booth's blood-alcohol content was 0.25%, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%, according to police reports. Blood test results showed his BAC was 0.28%, the reports say.
He was released on bail until April 2024 — when he was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license with a BAC at 0.24%, reports say. That case is scheduled for trial later this month.
