Tata Power Q1 Results: Profit climbs 6% YoY to ₹1,262 crore; EBITDA jumps 17%
Profit of renewables business surged 95 per cent YoY to ₹ 531 crore.
Revenue from operations increased 4.3 per cent YoY to ₹ 18,035.07 crore from ₹ 17,293.62 crore in Q1FY25. EBITDA for the quarter under review grew 17 per cent YoY to ₹ 3,930 crore.
'We have commenced FY26 on a high note, with strong performance across all our business verticals. Our renewable energy portfolio continues to exceed expectations, as we drive innovation, scale, and efficiency across the clean energy value chain," said Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Power.
According to Tata Power's exchange filing, the company commissioned 94 MW of RE capacity in Q1 FY26, bringing the total operational renewable capacity to 5.6 GW.
The company maintained the number one position in the rooftop solar segment, with total installations above 2 lakh and cumulative capacity above 3.4 GWp.
The revenue of the solar rooftop segment more than doubled to ₹ 823 crore in Q1FY26 on a YoY basis.
The company saw the record rooftop solar installation of more than 45,500 during the quarter, clocking a 260 per cent YoY jump in PAT at ₹ 90 crore.
The company commissioned 270 MWp of solar projects in Q1FY26, which was up 143 per cent from 111 MW in the previous year.
TP Solar clocked ₹ 100 crore PAT in Q1 FY26, while revenue stood at ₹ 1,613 crore.
The transmission and distribution (T&D) business PAT (without one-off in the previous year) grew to ₹ 440 crore, up 26 per cent year over year.
Odisha Discom's PAT grew to ₹ 105 crore, rising 156 per cent YoY.
Tata Power said it commenced cross-border power sales through a power exchange for the 18 MW Suchhu Hydro Electric Project in Bhutan.

Over 5,500 rooftop solar connections installed in north Delhi
Over 5,500 rooftop solar connections have been installed across North Delhi, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) officials said on Saturday. The initiative supports the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Delhi Solar Policy, helping consumers reduce electricity bills while boosting clean energy adoption, the company said in a statement. The C&I segment contributes the highest energised capacity at 60.969 MWp (megawatt peak), compared to 34.929 MWp from domestic users and 12.565 MWp from others. (AP) The company said that domestic users lead in installations with 3,995 rooftop solar systems, followed by 1,497 in the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector and 38 in other categories. But the C&I segment contributes the highest energised capacity at 60.969 MWp (megawatt peak), compared to 34.929 MWp from domestic users and 12.565 MWp from others. The discom said that residential societies are also embracing solar power, with 13 societies in Tata Power-DDL's operational areas installing systems totalling 0.377 MWp. Most opted for setups between 2 kW and 3 kW. A Tata Power-DDL spokesperson said, 'Each kilowatt of rooftop solar generates 100–120 units monthly, allowing consumers to recover costs in three to four years through bill savings.' The total sanctioned load has now crossed 100 MWp. According to the company, government incentives have spurred adoption. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, households get ₹30,000 per kW for systems up to 2 kW, with subsidies capped at ₹78,000 for larger setups. Residents also receive up to 300 free units monthly from their solar output. In the scheme, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) qualify for ₹18,000 per kW for shared facilities such as lighting and electric vehicles charging, limited to 3 kW per household and 500 kW per RWA. The Delhi Solar Policy adds further benefits, including ₹30,000 capital subsidies and generation-based incentives, the company said. Tata Power-DDL assists consumers with site checks, technical support, and net metering to ease the shift to solar.

Tata Power launches ‘Ghar Ghar Solar' in Pune
Tata Power Renewables, one of the country's top renewable energy players and a subsidiary of Tata Power, on Wednesday launched its flagship 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign in Pune. A special scheme 'Own a Rooftop Solar System' was also introduced ahead of Independence Day. The firm is actively involved in promoting solar energy adoption through the 'Ghar Ghar Solar' campaign that is also aligned with the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power Company Ltd, who was in Pune at the launch event, said by the year-end the aim is to ensure at least six lakh rooftop installations pan-India. Sinha spoke about the initiative with a special focus on Maharashtra. 'In Maharashtra, we are targeting to install 800-MW rooftop solar capacity over the next three years,' he said. As of July 2025, Tata Power Solaroof has achieved a cumulative installed rooftop solar capacity of 775 MWp (megawatt peak) in Maharashtra catering to 27,910 customers. In Pune, where the company already has a presence with 200-MW installed capacity, plans are underway to add a further 250 MW in the next three years. Announcing the key highlights of the new scheme, officials said it entails paying Rs 1,947 and owning the rooftop system, symbolic of the year of India's Independence. Elaborating, Sanjay Banga, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), said it includes almost 100 per cent of system cost available as load, affordable EMIs, flexible financing tenures up to 60 months and complimentary one-year solar insurance for residential customers. 'This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of residential rooftop solar by offering high-quality, affordable, and easily accessible solar energy solutions backed by trusted service,' he added. Tata Power Company has expressed strong interest in obtaining a distribution licence for Pune city and adjoining Haveli, Maval, Mulshi, and Khed. 'We have submitted our application to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission for a licence to distribute electricity in Pune and adjoining areas. Yes, we are very much here,' Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power Company Ltd said on Wednesday. 'MERC is reviewing our application and as per the process, a public hearing will be held,' Sinha said.

Tata Power makes major stride in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR: The performance of Tata Power-led distribution companies (discoms) in the state has significantly improved due to reduction in aggregated technical and commercial loss from 30 per cent to 16 per cent over a period of four years. A joint venture between Tata Power and the state government, three of the four discoms, TPCODL, TPNODL and TPWDOL, have secured A+ ranking for the second consecutive year, maintaining their top national position among 63 power utilities in India. TPSODL, the distribution licensee for southern Odisha, is yet to catch up with the other three companies in certain parameters. The company has invested Rs 4,200 crore invested in infrastructure upgrades in the last four years by installing 40,000 new transformers and adding 1,200 sub-stations across the state. The infrastructure upgradation has brought a significant change in voltage stabilisation and reduction in power outage. The four discoms have replaced nearly three lakh faulty meters and is in the process of installing smart meters for better energy auditing and generating accurate bills. As a result of this the discoms have achieved nearly 100 per cent billing and collection of revenue from consumers, sources said.
