If you're too active on TikTok and YouTube, you must have heard or seen videos of skin cycling. This is the latest viral beauty trend that calls for alternating the products available in your nighttime regimen.
Skin cycling has you switch out active ingredients, so you may avoid over-exfoliation and potential irritation issues as well. But is it worth all the hype, or is it just another flashy name trend with basic skin hygiene? Let's dig deep and understand the meaning and benefits of this beauty trend.
What is skin cycling
?
Skin cycling is a systematic way to apply your evening skincare ingredients, which mainly include retinoids and exfoliants, on a four-night rotation course. The concept is mainly based on respecting the skin barrier and then fostering long-term skin resilience. The standard cycle involves:
Night 1:
Exfoliation and resurfacing
Night 2:
Retinoid
Nights 3 and 4:
Recovery and repair.
(You can just repeat this cycle.)
The primary aim is to prevent over-exfoliation and irritation, which happens with multiple active layers of product, which the skin ultimately cannot adapt to. Skin cycling involves deliberate rest days to strengthen the skin's barrier and thus helps in clear skin promotion without causing inflammation.

It says that our skin does not require overusing exfoliants like AHAs, BHAs, and other scrubs. Even the application of retinol and basic skincare serums like vitamin C every day is not healthy for our skin. So one can use all but one on different days, leading to decreased breakouts, sensitivity, and flakiness.

Why are people loving this?
It simplifies the skincare regime and provides structure with clarity every day. This also alleviates irritation and provides a sense of relief for people who have ever had raw and overworked skin.
Skin cycling further builds confidence for beginners, allowing one to plan out their regimen depending on their skin texture and requirements.
This choice gives clarity without the sense of feeling overwhelmed every day. Lastly, skin cycling also aligns with your skin's biology and does not need to be pushed every night. But it allows you to be content and see the magic in letting it rest.

Dr. Sujit Paul, Group CEO of Zota Healthcare, said, 'Neutering and spaying of dogs is the only sustainable method of mitigating litter at the source, and that, if undertaken in a systemic manner, the communities will be stabilised in a decade, with spay/neuter averages of aprox ₹1000–₹2000 per animal being small costs relative to the human and animal suffering we are preventing. India lacks shelter infrastructure to humanely house millions of stray animals, which is why Davaindia is trying to address the issue with a community shelter operation at company stores and mass vaccination campaigns." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like "We must also avoid the vacuum effect, i.e. removing territorial attendant to unvaccinated dogs to occupy their territory creating exposure to zoonotic outbreaks of leptospirosis, mange, parvovirus, etc. During visits to South Africa (content that supports community based sheltering in pet food stores) and Georgia (rural community program) I observed radio/RFID tagging and also willing to pilot microchipping and RFID linkage with municipal records whenever possible (to improve accountability and follow up care),' Paul added. CareForAll plans to expand with more shelters outside Davaindia COCO stores in priority cities. The company said the campaign will work with NGOs, municipal authorities, and resident welfare associations to organise Animal Birth Control (ABC) camps, subsidised spay/neuter slots, and priority care for injured, pregnant, or agitated dogs. It said that DavaIndia will also pilot RFID and microchip tagging to track vaccinations and sterilisation, ensuring accountability and long-term monitoring of treated animals. Live Events
