Prepare yourselves, rom-com lovers – Netflix's new young adult drama promises to make you 'swoon' when it's released this week.
Set your calendars, as the eight-episode adaptation of Forever, based on bestselling author Judy Blume's 1975 novel of the same name, is dropping imminently.
The 50-year-old tale (from the same writer as coming-of-age classics such as Are You There God? It's Me Margaret) offers a heartfelt, modernised portrayal of first love – and all the complications that come with it.
From showrunner Mara Brock Akil, the series follows 'the epic love story of two Black teens, Keisha (Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.) as they explore their identities through the awkward and moving journey of being each other's capital- F Firsts'.
As the two athletes fall hard for each other, life has a way of throwing curveballs the loved-up couple will have to try to weather them together. And just how will this head-over-heels romance impact the rest of their lives?

'Y'all im like sobbing i cant believe this,' chaoticblk girl echoed.
Many are also praising the show for centring two Black leads in a genre where they are often underrepresented.
'Whether you're a fan of young adult television or not I really need everyone tap into this because it is so rare for us to get authentic black romance stories these days, especially for black teenagers,' poptotheorryy said.
'We're really getting a Black YA romantic series on Netflix? like it's actually happening and not a wishful fancast,' tabbyfaran agreed.
Over on YouTube, teeewilliams shared: 'This is IT. THISSSS is what we need — a Black teen romcom.'
'I just realised that is the first time I've seen a young black romance story like this, we really need more of these,' wonderluck-089 commented on YouTube.

'It is gratifying to know that, 50 years after its release, the love story at the core of Forever is still resonating with audiences,' told Tudum about seeing the popular 70s novel come to life.
'All the questions we have to sort through — the first time you have sex, your first kiss, the first time you say 'I love you' — it resonated then, and it resonates now,' Mara agreed.
Discussing how she brought this love story into the 21st century, Mara told The Telegraph that she had to figure out a way to bring the modern problem of technology on children's innocence and changing position of women into the plot. More Trending

'I find it heartbreaking that before you can talk to them about the birds and the bees, you have to introduce the idea of rape.
'You have to help them navigate all these complexities around language and behaviour, and that's before they've figured out if the girl even likes them. So, once I'd realised that was how we could tell the story, we were off to the races,' she explained.

Netflix fans 'feel violated' after graphic spitting scene in trailer for new romcom series - gasping 'that really caught me off guard!'

Netflix fans 'felt violated' after a graphic spitting scene in the trailer for a new romcom series - gasping that moment 'really caught them off guard'. Too Much, from the mind of Lena Dunham, stars Megan Stalter (Hacks) as Jessica, a thirty-something, New York workaholic, grappling with a devastating breakup. The ten-part series, coming to the streamer on July 10, sees her move across the pond to London for a fresh start. There, she meets and falls messily in love with Felix, played by Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) - a layabout musician and an entirely unexpected, unlikely match. The trailer dropped on YouTube yesterday - but fans in the comments were shocked by a particular scene in it that jarred with its classic romcom vibe. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. I stopped to read the comments at the spitting scene.'; 'The spitting really caught me off guard OMG.'; 'I felt violently touched after seeing that spitting scene.'; 'What in the spitting jump scare was that?' Punning on the show's title, one said: 'Yeah, the spitting scene was Too Much for me.' But some were not so taken aback by it as others, referring to Lena's most famous TV creation, Girls, which aired on HBO from 2012 to 2017: 'Those of you shocked by the spitting scene have clearly never seen Girls.'; The trailer dropped on YouTube yesterday - but fans in the comments were shocked by a particular scene in it that jarred with its classic romcom vibe But some were not so taken aback by it as others 'As a gay man, that spitting scene is tame. Y'all freakin' over nothing.' Fans were mostly very excited to see the series hit the small screen next month: 'Oh, this actually, genuinely looks good. Is this the start of a Dunhamaissance?'; 'We love a plus-size lead who knows what she wants. So excited for this!'; 'Too Much looks like exactly the kind of chaotic comfort watch I need right now. Who else is ready to binge this entire thing in one sitting?' The romcom boasts a star-studded cast, with Stephen Fry, Andrew Scott, Richard E Grant, Kit Harington, Rita Ora, Jessica Alba, Rhea Perlman, Jennifer Saunders, Emily Ratajkowski, Adwoa Aboah and Lena herself all starring. It is made by the producers of Love Actually and Notting Hill and is co-created by Lena, 39, and her husband, Peruvian-British musician Luis Felber, 38. Lena told Netflix news site Tudum their own love story is similar to Jessica and Felix's: 'When I first started coming to the UK for work... I thought to myself, "I want to write something about the experience of being a foreigner here and the fantasies we have of [London] versus the realities". 'Then, when I met my husband Luis, I felt like I was experiencing all of that but in the context of a relationship.' Fans were mostly very excited to see the series hit the small screen next month But she also said, at a Next on Netflix event in London earlier this year, Megan had made the role of Jessica her own. 'She is truly an old-fashioned physical comedian in the vein of Carol Burnett or Elaine May but she has something really modern and also really sweet about her and she can move between intense comedy and heavy drama with ease', Lena gushed. 'She just felt like the perfect foil to feel how Americans contrast against the people of this nation. 'Because it didn't take very long for me to realise that while you technically speak the same language, there are some vast differences I am still coming to understand.' Megan loves how the show overturned tropes both about romcoms - and how Americans see London: 'The show does a really good job of knowing what it is but then also flipping it on its head.' Her co-star Will agreed: 'It has such an awareness of rom-com... but it also does have some rougher edges. 'That makes the sweeter aspects all the more powerful because there's an honesty to it.' Megan saw herself in her character: 'Jessica and I both wear our hearts on our sleeve. We're emotional, we're dramatic, we're weird and remain that way as adults.' Lena said while the show does have some serious moments, she hoped it could mostly act as a source of escapist joy for viewers. 'You can take a half hour away from your day and feel like you are part of a world that is truthful but just a little more sweet and tender than the actual world we live in,' she explained. Since working on Girls, Lena has continued her acting work, appearing in American Horror Story, The Simpsons and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. She has also kept working as a writer, producer and director, creating American comedy Camping, starring Jennifer Garner and David Tennant. She also directed some episodes of British show Industry, about newbie investment bankers, and wrote 2022 medieval comedy Catherine Called Birdy, starring Bella Ramsey, Billie Piper and Andrew Scott. Lena swapped her $2.8million Los Angeles bungalow for a property in London after marrying Luis in September 2021, at a members-only club in the capital. The pair met in January 2021 on a blind date, which they were set up on by friends. Luis has previously told The New York Times their first date was about eight hours long - and they moved in together just months later. The pair met in January 2021 on a blind date, which they were set up on by friends. Pictured: Lena at their London home 'I think when you know, you know', he said. 'I've only been alive for 35 years in this lifetime, and I think it's another archaic thing for guys to hide their feelings. 'I'm way more into the flow of getting to know the person. 'And I think Lena's the same, and I think - I'm going to sound cheesy - but when you find your soulmate, you just know.'

Les Misérables cast boycott latest show with Trump appearance

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Donald Trump faced a boycott at the Kennedy Center for the debut performance of Les Misérables. In Washington, DC, on Wednesday night, Trump, 78, was among the guests at the Kennedy Centre for the performing arts, marking the first time the President had attended the event since his election in 2024. It was reported that several cast members opted out of performing as a way to boycott his attendance, meaning that understudies were likely called upon to step in. When asked about this form of defiance from the cast, Trump responded that he was unbothered. 'I couldn't care less. Honestly, I couldn't,' said Trump. 'All I do is run the country well.' Trump was booed and cheered as he arrived and took his seat next to his wife, Melania Trump. At the end of the intermission, it was reported that someone loudly cursed his name and drew applause from the audience. Drag Queens also appeared in the crowd, their presence was a silent protest against Trump's claims that the Center had hosted an excessive number of drag shows in the past. Earlier this year, Trump made himself chairman of the Kennedy Centre, firing the board of trustees and confirming that he would reduce the number of drag shows at the historically liberal space. In a post on X in February he announced: 'At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture. We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP! 'Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP. The Kennedy Center is an American Jewel, and must reflect the brightest STARS on its stage from all across our Nation. For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!' A response from the Kennedy Center at the time revealed that they had not received any communication from the White House about this, but were aware some members of their board had received termination notices. The Kennedy Center's statement continued: 'Per the Center's governance established by Congress in 1958, the chair of the board of trustees is appointed by the Center's board members. There is nothing in the Center's statute that would prevent a new administration from replacing board members; however, this would be the first time such action has been taken with the Kennedy Center's board.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While at the event, Trump told reporters that he was a huge fan of Les Misérables. 'I've seen it, we've seen it, a number of times, it's fantastic. It was just about our first choice. That's what we got and we've got other ones coming, other great ones coming,' Trump said. More Trending Despite being a huge fan, the President was unable to answer basic questions about the plot, like whether he found himself relating to the villain or the hero of the play. The reporter asked the President if he felt more aligned with the ruthless Inspector Javert, or Jean Valjean, the former convict mercilessly hunted down by Javert for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family. 'Oh, that's a tough one, the last part of that question, that's tough, I think,' Trump said with a laugh. 'You better answer that one honey, I don't know.' Melania did not have a response for the reporter either. Got a story? Coronation Street fans ‘work out' what really happened to Lisa's ex Becky

Fans of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in Coronation Street are continuing to learn small pieces of information about her ex partner Becky. The local detective, who is in a relationship with Carla Connor (Alison King), was previously with her colleague Becky. The character, who we've never met, died on duty. Swain previously explained how Becky had been chasing an assailant, who jumped into a getaway car and mowed her down, with Becky dying at the scene. Lisa reflected on Becky's death once more recently, when dedicated police officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) was also killed on duty. Craig was attacked by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who had found out about Brody (Ryan Mulvey) not being his son shortly before. Craig attempted to gain control of the intense moment, but Mick hit him with a cricket bat, and he died in hospital. This week, Lisa told Carla more about Becky's life as a copper. She revealed that, before her death, Becky was being investigated by the anti-corruption unit, and Lisa was keen to keep that information from Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin). Lisa emotionally opened up about how she and Becky had fought over the allegations the day Becky was killed, and though the investigation was dropped, she didn't get the funeral she deserved. As a result of this development, a few fans of the ITV soap are starting to wonder if Becky might be alive. Taking to social media platform X, this user said: I can't cope with the Becky being alive theories but I also can't stop reading them!!!.' Passionate Swarla fan Sophie wrote a thread on the site, noting the possibility of Becky featuring in the Corrie and Emmerdale crossover episode at the start of next year. This fan said: Becky is 'NOT' alive, nope, nope, nope!!! Wait….Just don't go there, I'm begging you please! Not on my watch.' Amid these comments though, plenty of audience members are hoping the theory won't prove to be true. More Trending 'Becky Is Not Still Alive', this user wrote, while another simply said: 'Becky is not alive becky is not alive becky is not alive.' Swain attempted to talk to Betsy about her mum, but when Betsy insisted that she hadn't read the letter because she wasn't interested in knowing who her sperm donor was, Lisa decided to keep quiet about what the letter was really about. Unfortunately, Betsy wasn't being entirely honest either, as she later revealed to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) that she knew exactly what the letter was about. She confessed that she was convinced Becky's hit and run had been a coverup of some sort, and asked Lauren for her help in getting to the bottom of things.
