Police were called to Kīlauea Avenue in Hilo, on Hawaii's Big Island, on the morning of July 20 on a report of possible human remains located deep within the fallen tree, the Hawaii Police Department said in a statement.
Hawaii Fire Department personnel confirmed the presence of human remains, but the debris was so thick that firefighters were not immediately able to remove the bodies due to safety concerns, according to the statement.
Police officers confirmed to SFGATE that the human remains belonged to two women, whose identities have not officially been confirmed. The department doesn't suspect foul play and officials are conducting an autopsy to confirm how the two women died.
While their identities haven't been confirmed officially, a GoFundMe page identified the victims as Trisha and Michelle, a couple who regularly hung out in the area.
The fundraiser was started by Savana Moore, who says she's the older sister of Trisha. Moore wrote in the fundraiser that she reported her sister missing soon after the tree fell on July 12, and allegedly insisted police check the tree as foul odors emanated from it. She says they told her there was nothing they could do since it was on private property.Moore said that on July 20, her other sister, Jessica, allegedly found a body and called authorities to investigate, who then found the remains of Michelle and Trisha. She says her family was upset that it 'took so long to get the help we needed to find them.'
'We ask kindly for the help of the community to lay these two to rest,' Moore wrote in the GoFundMe post, which has raised more than $8,800 as of July 30.
'If you knew Trisha then you knew how special she was. Her smile contagious, always there to help someone in need even if she was struggling herself," she wrote. "Now we want to show her how much she was loved. How much the both of them were loved."

Family holds balloon release for brother and sister killed in Detroit vehicle crash
Family members of a brother and sister who were killed in a crash earlier this week came together on Friday to remember the duo as they come to terms with what happened. Less than 72 hours ago, Catone and Joshaundra Scott were killed when the vehicle they were in crashed into a furniture building in the early morning hours of July 30. Police believe the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed. A fourth person in the vehicle was listed in critical condition at an area hospital. "I sat at the edge of my bed in disbelief. I had to hear it over and over again, and even when I still heard it, I still didn't believe it," said their cousin, Angel Brinson. Family members say it hasn't hit them that the siblings are gone, especially since Catone Scott, a father of five, was released from prison hours before the crash. "I (had) seen them that same day, like 5 o'clock, coming from Woodward and Manchester, buying his (Catone Scott) outfits," said Kevina Scott, a cousin. The family says it has been a rough few years as they've lost multiple family members. Two weeks ago, they buried an aunt. "It's no breathing in between. It's like we trying to figure out why we getting hit so hard," Kevina Scott said. The family says the siblings were full of life and were close. They say that while Catone Scott was in prison, Joshaundra Scott was the one who stepped in to help his children. As they honor the two people, they seek respect from the community. They also have advice for Metro Detroit residents. "Stop speeding, it's not worth it. You can get your life snatched away just like that," said Brinson.

A suspect is on the run after four people were killed in a shooting at a bar in the US state of Montana, authorities say. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed to the BBC's US partner CBS, that the shooting happened at The Owl Bar in Anaconda at around 10:30 local time.
