Responding to the two-day debate on Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, the Prime Minister said the attack was aimed at instigating riots in India, and the country's unity has foiled the attempt.
'I stand here to make a case for India, and to show a mirror to those who do not understand this. I had said that we will teach the terrorists and their masters a befitting lesson which will be beyond their imagination.

"We have complete trust in the capabilities of our armed forces and they were given a free hand to respond. The armed forces taught them such a lesson that the masters of terrorism are still losing their sleep over it," he said.
Mr. Modi noted that Pakistan had some inkling of Indian action and had started issuing nuclear threats but could do nothing when terror targets were hit.
'It (Pahalgam attack) was a conspiracy to instigate riots in India and the country's unity foiled that attempt. When I speak of this Parliament session being a Vijayotsav, it is of destroying the headquarters of terror,' he said.

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said US President Donald Trump's decision to impose 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods will hurt Indian exporters, MSMEs, manufacturers and will disrupt supply chains, deter FDI, and hit jobs hard. A day after Trump imposed a penalty of another 25 per cent on India for buying Russian oil, Owaisi said Trump just slapped another 25 per cent tariff on India, taking it to 50 per cent, because 'we bought oil from Russia'. In a post on X, the Hyderabad MP said 'This isn't diplomacy, it's bullying by the buffoon-in-chief who clearly doesn't understand how global trade works". These tariffs will hurt Indian exporters, MSMEs, and manufacturers. It'll disrupt supply chains, deter FDI, and hit jobs hard. But why will Narendra Modi care? Where are those BJP muscle-flexers now?" the AIMIM chief asked. "Last time I'd asked if Modi ji would show his 56-inch chest when Trump imposed 56% tariffs. Trump stopped at 50%. Maybe he's scared of our non-biological PM? Was selling out our strategic autonomy worth filling your friends' billionaire coffers?" he further said. Trump on Wednesday slapped an additional 25 per cent tariff on goods coming from India as penalty for New Delhi's continued purchase of Russian oil, a move that is likely to hit sectors such as textiles, marine and leather exports hard. Trump signed an executive order - Addressing Threats to the US by the Government of the Russian Federation - imposing the additional tariff over and above the 25 per cent levy, which comes into effect from August 7. After this order, the total tariff on Indian goods, barring a small exemption list, will be 50 per cent.

Putin to visit India soon, says NSA Ajit Doval
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India soon, said National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval in an opening statement during a meeting in Moscow on Thursday (August 7, 2025). 'We are very excited to learn about the visit of President Putin to India... I think the dates are almost finalised. Summit-level meetings have always been watershed points for the relationship,' Mr. Doval said. According to sources, Mr. Doval's visit intended to hold meetings with senior Russian officials and prepare details for Mr. Putin's visit to New Delhi. This is the NSA's first visit to Moscow since Operation Sindoor, although he attended the SCO NSA meeting in Beijing in June and met with Mr. Shoigu's deputy, Russia's Security Council Deputy Secretary Aleksandr Venediktov.
