Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is a player whose future is currently very much in the balance.
The 25-year-old had wanted to leave Inter in the January transfer window. He had grown dissatisfied with his lack of playing time.
And Frattesi's desire to leave has only grown stronger over the second half. His anger at not being a regular starter came to a head after he was an unused substitute in the Champions League final.

In the meantime, Napoli consider Frattesi to be a major target in midfield.
It remains to be seen whether the arrival of Cristian Chivu as the new Inter coach will change Frattesi's situation at Inter.

However, should the Italian international leave, Napoli would certainly be at the front of the queue of suitors.
Moreover, the Partenopei also have a player who Inter are keen on.
Forward Giacomo Raspadori is a long-term target for Inter. he has been on their radar since he was at Sassuolo.
Therefore, the Gazzetta reports, the possibility is still very much there that the Nerazzurri could bring in Raspadori as part of a deal for his fellow ex-Neroverdi player Frattesi.

Why Gian Piero Gasperini is a transformational appointment for Roma

Gian Piero Gasperini's appointment at Roma is nothing short of a coup. Gasperini's record at Atalanta stands as one of the most remarkable managerial achievements in modern Italian football — a transformation that has elevated the club from relegation battlers to European contenders and, eventually, European champions. Advertisement When Gasperini took over Atalanta on 14 June 2016, the club's objectives were modest – survive in Serie A and avoid relegation to Serie B. His reign, however, ignited an extraordinary era. The beginning was rocky – five games in, Atalanta were second from bottom after a home defeat to Palermo, and Gasperini was on the brink of dismissal. Instead, the club held firm. What followed was a meteoric rise – victories over Italian giants Inter, Roma, and Napoli helped Atalanta finish the 2016–17 season in fourth place, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League and signaling the beginning of a footballing revolution in Bergamo. Under Gasperini, Atalanta not only qualified for Europe regularly but became a respected force across the continent. In just his second season, they topped their Europa League group unbeaten, and in 2018–19, Gasperini led the club to a third-place Serie A finish – their best ever at the time and qualification for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club's history. Advertisement Atalanta reached the Champions League quarter-finals in their debut campaign, defeating Valencia with an exhilarating 8–4 aggregate win, before narrowly losing to Paris Saint-Germain. Despite the devastating COVID-19 pandemic that severely impacted Bergamo, the club finished third in Serie A again in 2020, scoring a record-breaking 98 goals — the highest tally by an Italian team in over six decades. With three players (Iličić, Muriel, Zapata) scoring over 15 league goals, Gasperini's side became the first since 1951–52 Juventus to achieve such a feat. Even after the mid-season departure of talismanic captain Papu Gómez in the 2020–21 campaign, Gasperini maintained Atalanta's momentum, guiding them to a third consecutive third-place finish and a second Coppa Italia final in three years. Though silverware continued to elude them, the team's identity – high-intensity attacking football, tactical fluidity, and fearless pressing remained at the forefront of his Atalanta sides to follow. Advertisement After a brief setback in 2021–22, when Atalanta missed out on European qualification for the first time under his leadership, Gasperini recalibrated. The club returned to European competition the following season with a fifth-place Serie A finish and, in 2023–24, reached new historic heights. In the 2023–24 season, Gasperini led Atalanta to the semi-finals of both the Europa League and Coppa Italia. After a thrilling run that saw them eliminate Liverpool and Marseille, Atalanta reached their first-ever European final and Gasperini delivered. On 22 May 2024, they defeated Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen 3–0 in the Europa League final, claiming the first major trophy of his career and Atalanta's first European title. Advertisement This season, he continued upon that success by securing Champions League qualification yet again with a third-place finish – ahead of Juventus who finished below Atalanta in fourth-place – further cementing his status as one of Italy's elite tacticians. Therefore, if Roma manage to secure Gian Piero Gasperini as their next manager, they will be acquiring more than just a tactician; they will be gaining a visionary leader capable of instilling a long-term identity. His high-pressing, expansive attacking philosophy would offer a refreshing contrast to the more pragmatic approaches of recent Roma coaches. With the right backing, Gasperini could unlock the full potential of Roma's promising talents and guide the Giallorossi to sustained domestic and European relevance rather than the short bursts of momentum that they have experienced in recent times. Advertisement Furthermore, Gasperini's proven ability to elevate underdog squads and develop players — often transforming journeymen and youth into elite performers — aligns perfectly with Roma's ambitions of combining financial prudence with competitive excellence. In a league often that can- at times – be dominated by pragmatism, Gasperini's fearless and modern approach represents both a cultural and sporting shift. For Roma, appointing him would not just be a smart managerial hire – it would be a declaration of intent. Callum McFadden I GIFN

Chivu To Keep 3-5-2 Formation At Inter Milan To Start – But Could Switch To A Back Four

Chivu To Keep 3-5-2 Formation At Inter Milan To Start – But Could Switch To A Back Four Cristian Chivu will keep the 3-5-2 formation at Inter Milan, but could switch to a back four as next season goes on. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Advertisement Inter Milan have decided on Cristian Chivu as their new coach. And reportedly, a big part of the reason for this is that the Nerazzurri believe the Romanian will give the team tactical continuity. Inter have been playing almost exclusively with a 3-5-2 shape for six seasons now. That was the shape that Antonio Conte used. And then, Simone Inzaghi kept the system the same. Of course, there were big differences in the approaches of the two coaches. But the formation was the same throughout, with very few exceptions. And it will be a similar story with Chivu. The 44-year-old will certainly bring his own ideas and style. But the shape that the players line up in will not change. (Photo by) Cristian Chivu is certainly not going to implement any radical changes right away. Advertisement The Nerazzurri squad is currently build to play in a 3-5-2 formation. Therefore, the new coach will stick with that shape at the Club World Cup. And even if there are some changes in the summer transfer window, the squad is still going to be made up primarily of the same players from the last couple seasons. Therefore, the Gazzetta report, Chivu plans to start next season with a 3-5-2 shape. That is what the players know. However, as the campaign goes on, the Romanian will have the chance to experiment. In his time as Inter youth team coach, Chivu changed formations a fair bit. And he tended to favour systems with a back four. But what was important was that the system suit the team. Advertisement At Parma, Chivu got a lot of success out of using the 3-5-2 shape. That made the Gialloblu more defensively solid, something they definitely needed when he came in. And the 44-year-old's familiarity with that shape was a big part of why Inter turned to him to replace Simone Inzaghi. However, that certainly does not mean that Inter won't give Chivu the freedom to test out other formations.

England 'got away with it' against Andorra

Harry Kane played under current England boss Thomas Tuchel when they were at Bayern Munich [Getty Images] England captain Harry Kane says his side "got away with it" in their 1-0 win against Andorra in a performance that "wasn't good enough". In a disappointing display against a team ranked 173rd in the world, England won courtesy of a solitary Kane goal after 50 minutes in Barcelona. Advertisement England were booed by some of their fans at half-time and full-time, while manager Thomas Tuchel said his side "lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier". "It wasn't our greatest performance," said Kane, whose goal took his tally to 72 for England. "I don't think it's one many people are going to remember, that's for sure, but it's three points in the bag. "But, yeah, for sure we know we can play better in all aspects, both with and without the ball. "It's down to us now to analyse it, look back and try and learn from it because condition-wise it's going to be very similar to next summer - dry pitch, warm weather, humid." Advertisement He added: "It [the goal] was probably our best move and we just didn't have enough of that, both with probably the runs and also the quality - a lot of balls kind of overhit, out of play, and it just kind of killed our momentum, especially there in the second half." The 2026 World Cup will be held across Canada, Mexico and the United States. England beat Latvia and Albania in their first two World Cup qualifiers in March before the win against Andorra. They are top of Group K, with Albania second on four points, Latvia third with three points after two games, Serbia fourth with one point from one game and Andorra bottom. Advertisement Kane added: "We were just lacking quality [against Andorra], looked a bit fatigued both physically and mentally and, yeah, we got away with it because we're a good team and they had a couple of half-chances where we didn't get punished. But ultimately, it wasn't good enough." England's next game is a friendly against Senegal at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Tuesday (19:45 BST).
