KFC offering free buckets of chicken in new ‘comeback' plan — how to get yours

Yahoo15-07-2025
(WJW) – Fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken announced on Monday that it is giving away free buckets of chicken to mobile customers, kicking off what the fast food chain is calling its 'comeback era.'
Through its 'Free Bucket On Us' campaign, KFC is offering a free bucket of fried chicken with a $15 purchase for customers who download the KFC app and join the rewards program.
The deal can only be redeemed through the app or KFC.com at participating locations, restaurant officials said in a press release.

Aside from the deal, KFC is also introducing fried pickles to its menu along with the fan-favorite $7 Fill Ups on four meals, including Three-Piece Tenders, One-Piece Fried Chicken, Two-Piece Fried Chicken and Famous Bowl.
According to Fox Business, the announcements come after KFC reported a 1% decrease in U.S. same-store sales during the first quarter compared to last year.
Company officials said it is working to bring back KFC fans while competing with other popular fried chicken chains such as Chick-fil-A, which was named America's most satisfying fast food chain for the 11th straight year last month.
Other popular chicken chains include Popeyes and Raising Cane's.

'We're well aware of the latest fried chicken rankings and I'm fired up to launch a bold Kentucky Fried Comeback and remind America exactly who we are. If people can give their ex a million second chances, I hope our fans can give us one,' said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, the president of KFC U.S. 'By listening to our customers and addressing feedback, we'll reclaim our rightful place in the fried chicken game we started. Come back and give us a shot—your first bucket's on us.'

Trump reveals shocking Social Security data involving illegal immigrants

President Donald Trump revealed on Thursday that nearly 275,000 illegal immigrants have been removed from the Social Security system. 'Last month, I signed the One Big Beautiful Bill, and allowed No Tax on Social Security for our great seniors…and to protect our benefits, we've already kicked nearly 275,000 illegal aliens off of the Social Security system…,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump said many of the illegal immigrants who were on Social Security have 'left the country' but the United States was still 'sending them checks all the time.' Removing the illegals, Trump said, is 'making the system strong.' 'Biden never kicked anybody off. Everybody joined and we're carrying out historic deportations to remove many more illegals committing Social Security fraud. It was Social Security fraud that was taking place at levels that nobody has ever seen,' Trump said from the Oval Office. Some experts have warned that the Social Security program will run out of funds by 2034, allowing just 81 percent of beneficiaries to receive their benefits. The Trump administration said maintaining the retirement program is a 'top priority.' 'The 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act' provides historic tax relief to America's seniors,' a Social Security Administration (SSA) spokesperson said, according to Newsweek. 'As Commissioner [Frank] Bisignano has repeatedly emphasized, ensuring the long-term financial health of these trust funds remains a top priority.' 'The Social Security Administration is committed to working with Congress and other stakeholders to protect and strengthen these vital programs, ensuring that millions of Americans can continue to rely on Social Security for a secure retirement and support in times of disability — both now and in the future. We remain focused on responsible stewardship and transparent communication,' the spokesperson added.

Tariff rebate checks in 2025? What we know about current legislation

(WJW) – It's not a pandemic stimulus check, but Congress is currently weighing the possibility of sending the American people more money. As part of the American Worker Rebate Act, introduced by Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri in July, people would receive hundreds of dollars in tariff rebate checks, which work to counteract the financial burden imposed on families by the Trump administration's tariffs. As the bill stands now, a household would get $600 for every child and adult – meaning a family of four would receive $2,400. Check amounts go down for those U.S. residents who are making more than $150,000 as a family or $75,000 individually. The bill has not been passed by the Senate or the House, and it must overcome multiple obstacles before being brought to President Trump's desk to sign. However, last month, Trump did say he was 'thinking about' approving a rebate. If the revenue from the latest tariff rollout exceeds projections, the bill leaves room for a larger rebate to be sent out to the American people. So far, there has been no word from Congress or the IRS on the possibility of a fourth stimulus check, like those issued during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. A rebate is a refund of something already paid for, while a stimulus is simply money given to pump up the economy. The U.S. Senate is currently on break for the summer and will be back in action on Sept. 2.
