Disney Reveals ‘Elio' 4K Blu-Ray Details—Including Hours Of Bonus Features
Elio, which follows the adventures of a boy whose contact with aliens sees him whisked away on an intergalactic adventure that both expands his horizons and teaches him about the importance of connections with loved ones back on Earth, recently came to the end of what was by Pixar's usual standards a rather disappointing cinema run. So Disney will be hoping there's plenty of pent-up demand for the film on home video from families and Pixar fans who didn't make the trip to see the film at the cinema.
The studio certainly seems to have put some effort in to making Elio on 4K Blu-ray something children and physical media collectors alike will want to own. For starters, in the U.S. Elio will exclusively be available in a beautifully designed limited edition Steelbook package that will include the film on HD Blu-ray as well as the 4K disc.
The 4K Blu-ray will feature the film mastered in the Dolby Vision format, with extra scene by scene picture information is provided to help compatible TVs deliver punchier, more accurate visuals. Its soundtrack will be available in a Dolby Atmos mix, too, that builds a hemisphere of sound around and above the viewer for the ultimate in movie immersion.
Note that the Dolby Vision video will default to the more basic HDR10 format (minus the scene by scene information) if the Elio 4K Blu-ray is played on a TV or 4K Blu-ray player that doesn't support Dolby Vision.
Disney's initial press information on the Elio 4K Blu-ray suggests that the film is going to appear on a high-capacity 100GB disc, despite its modest 98-minute run time. This would be very surprising given Disney's usual preference for 66GB discs, making me wonder if Disney has repeated the mistake it made when it claimed that Master & Commander: The Far Side Of The World was going to be mastered to 100GB disc. While I await an answer to my request for confirmation on this point, though, I'll take Disney's initial information at its word and look forward to seeing how uncompressed Elio might look with so much disc space to play with.
Those hours of extra features provided with the Elio 4K Blu-ray package, finally, include everything from art classes and a gag reel to five deleted scenes and a collection of 'Easter Eggs' and fun facts, with the full collection looking like this:
* Inside the Communiverse: The World and Characters of Elio – In-depth behind the scenes look with multiple cast and crew at the design and development of Elio's main characters and environments.
* Out of This World: An Astro Q&A – Voice actors Yonas Kibreab (Elio) and Remy Edgerly (Glordon) meet with a real-life astronaut to discuss space travel, possible alien life on other planets, and why it's important to study space.
* Astronomic Art Class: Ooooo and Glordon – Join Nicolle Castro, the lead story artist, as she shares her role on the film and guides viewers through drawing the film's Ooooo and Glordon characters.
* Extraterrestrial Easter Eggs and Fun Facts – Uncover the references and characters from some of your favorite Pixar films hidden throughout Elio, along with other fun facts.
* Galactic Gag Reel – Visit the recording booth with Elio's voice actors.
* Deleted Scenes – Five scenes that didn't make it into the final movie. While I can't describe exactly what these deleted scenes are about, or why they were deleted, Disney's press information does at least give each one a title. Namely:

Gal Gadot Says She Left ‘Entourage' Set Because Someone Behaved Inappropriately, ‘Hated' the Experience
The actress appeared in one episode of the HBO series in 2009 Gal Gadot appeared on one episode of 'Entourage' during the show's first season — and she doesn't look back on the experience fondly. While speaking to a group of amateur reporters this week, Gadot said she 'hated' being on the show. 'What I hated and didn't enjoy at all was being on 'Entourage,' an American series,' she explained. 'Someone there behaved inappropriately, it got to the point where I left the set and stopped working with them.' Gadot was later asked about her own acting skills, which she described as 'OK.' As she put it, 'If you cast me, you cast me well. My greatest strength is that I'm not afraid to work and I don't let things stop me.' Though her role in the series was short-lived, director Doug Ellin told Entertainment Weekly in 2018 that it was apparent Gadot would have a successful career. 'I remember when Gal came in, it was a small little role but everyone said, 'This girl is gonna be something big,' so it is cool to see,' he said. Elsewhere in the conversation, Gadot admitted navigating the controversies that surrounded the release of 'Snow White' this year was challenging. Her costar Rachel Zegler came under fire in 2024 after posting the words 'and always remember, free palestine' on X after thanking her fans for their support for the 'Snow White' trailer. Gadot served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from 2004-2009. Though both Gadot and Zegler put their best foot forward ahead of the film's release, the movie's box office performance was impacted. 'You can always explain and try to give people in the world a context about what's happening [in Israel] and what the reality is here, but in the end people decide for themselves,' Gadot said. 'I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected by that and didn't do well at the box office.' Gal Gadot Says 'Pressure' To 'Speak Out Against Israel' Led To ‘Snow White' Flopping: 'I Was Disappointed'
In a recent interview, Gal Gadot blamed the 'pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel' as the reason that 'greatly affected' the box office failure of Disney's live-action Snow White. The actress appeared on the Israeli celebrity interview program The A Talks on Thursday, per The Jerusalem Post, where one interviewer questioned if she was angry about the dismal theatrical performance of the adaptation also starring Rachel Zegler. More from Deadline 'Freakier Friday' Soundtrack: All The Songs In The Sequel Disney Entertainment Consolidates Film, TV & Streaming Marketing Under Asad Ayaz; Shannon Ryan Adds DTC Oversight ESPN And Fox Will Bundle Their Soon-To-Launch Streaming Services 'First of all, I have to say that I really enjoyed filming this movie,' Gadot said in Hebrew, per the Post. When pressed specifically on how it was to work with Zegler, Gadot responded, 'I even enjoyed working with Rachel Zegler. We laughed, we talked and it was fun. I was sure that this movie was going to be a huge success.' Gadot served in the Israeli Defense Forces for two years as part of her mandatory conscription, during which she participated in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war; Lebanon cited her service as the reason for banning Wonder Woman upon its 2017 release, The Washington Post reported at the time. Meanwhile, Zegler has been a vocal supporter of Palestine and Gaza, which reportedly did not go over well with Snow White producer Marc Platt amid promotion of the film. Gadot continued, 'And then October 7 happened, and what's happening in all kinds of industries, and also in Hollywood, is that there's a lot of pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel.' She added that she 'can always explain and try to give people in the world context about what's happening and what the reality is here, but in the end, people decide for themselves. I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected by that and didn't do well at the box office.' According to leading humanitarian groups and experts — such as the UN Special Committee, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders and international law scholars — Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians. A May 2025 IPC analysis projected catastrophic levels of food insecurity for the entire population of Gaza by September, meaning at least half a million people are expected to be in IPC Phase 5 — the highest phase, known as catastrophe — which is marked by acute malnutrition and mortality. In late May, five protesters were detained after reportedly targeting the central London set of Gadot's upcoming movie The Runner. Two months earlier, the actress' Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was delayed by protesters representing both pro-Palestine and pro-Israel groups. Ultimately, Disney weathered an estimated $115 million loss on Snow White.
