This will be the second session of 2025, after the one which was called on Feb 18 and lasted till Mar 5.
The prorogation of the Legislative Assembly/Legislative Council was formally done on March 12.
Rule 14 of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules, 2023 provides that there shall be at least three sessions of the Legislative Assembly every year.
In addition to the above, Article 174(1) of the Constitution of India also provides that the gap between the last meeting of a session of the Legislature and the date fixed for the first meeting of the next session shall not exceed six months.

SPCSS-TN urges CM to hold consultation for better SEP
The State Platform for Common School System – Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN) has urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to hold direct consultation with members of the High Level Committee, educationists and other forums to strengthen the State Education Policy (SEP). In a letter to the Chief Minister, general secretary, SPCSS - TN P. B. Prince Gajendra Babu said, 'The non-availability of the Report of the High Level Committee in the public domain and the announcement of the policy without placing the draft for discussion, denied the democratic space for people to negotiate on certain proposals in the policy.' The letter further added that the State Policy should be grounded on the premises of the Constitution of India. 'The Policy should set the curricular goals. The policy should ensure that at the completion of basic education in schools, the student should have a clear vision that caste is a discriminatory social practice, and it is against the Constitution of India,' it added. Pointing out that the concept of Model Schools, VETRI Schools and involvement of volunteers in curricular activities are against the concept of Samacheer Kalvi Policy and the principles of Social Justice, he said that a policy cannot sustain inequalities. The letter also pointed out that permanent teaching and non-teaching staff are a must for continuous formative assessment and that budgetary allocations must be made instead of philanthropic contributions.

'Insult to our freedom struggle...,' Asaduddin Owaisi slams PM Modi over RSS mention in I-day speech
AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for mentioning the RSS in his Independence Day speech. He said 'This is a great insult to our freedom struggle. RSS hated the freedom fighters more than the British. RSS has always opposed inclusive nationalism. The ideology of Hindutva is completely against the Constitution of India. RSS's oath talks about religion, society and culture of a single community. When Syama Prasad Mookerjee was a minister in the Bengal cabinet in 1941, Fazlul Huq was heading it, who had moved the Muslim League's Pakistan resolution in the Lahore session in 1940. And today the Prime Minister is talking about them. We were and will always remain philosophically against the BJP." Show more Show less

Punjab BJP chief seeks EC action against AAP's Manish Sisodia over poll remarks
Synopsis Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jhakar has urged the Election Commission of India to take action against AAP leader Manish Sisodia for allegedly attempting to undermine the election process. Jhakar's letter references Sisodia's remarks about winning the 2027 elections by any means, fair or unfair, which he claims indicate misuse of state machinery and voter intimidation. ANI Punjab BJP chief seeks EC action against AAP's Manish Sisodia over poll remarks Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Sunil Jhakar on Saturday wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI), urging action against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for allegedly attempting to "undermine the election process.""After a video went viral showing AAP leader Manish Sisodia talking about winning the 2027 elections by any means, fair or unfair, we have written this letter to the Election Commission to prevent the Aam Aadmi Party's attempts to undermine the election process," Jhakar said. Referring to Sisodia's purported remarks during a party event in Punjab, Jhakar alleged that the statements indicate misuse of state machinery, voter intimidation, bribery, money power, creating communal divisions, and deliberately spreading misinformation to mislead voters."On the eve of Independence Day, a day of utmost sanctity, Manish Sisodia, incharge of Aam Aadmi Party Punjab, delivered a speech wherein he openly proclaimed that in order to win the Punjab Assembly elections of 2027, AAP would resort to 'Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed, Sach, Jhoot, Sawal, Jawaab, Ladai, Jhagda.' Such a declaration on the day before Independence Day ridicules the values of peace, freedom and integrity that it represents," Jhakar wrote in his letter to the while addressing a party event in Punjab on August 15, had said, "To win 2027 elections, Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed, Sach, Jhoot, question, answer, Ladai, Jhagda, whatever we have to do, we will do. Are we ready?" Taking objection to the statement, Jhakar's letter said, "These statements amount to an open admission of intent to adopt corrupt practices, intimidate voters, spread enmity, and disturb public order in the state, thereby threatening the peace, development and prosperity of Punjab." Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi also shared the video clip of Sisodia's statement on X, who claimed that the remarks reflect the "real truth of Aam Aadmi Party."The Punjab BJP chief has requested action against Sisodia under the Representation of People Act, 1951, as well as under Sections 196, 197, and 353 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha (BNS).Jhakar added in the letter, "Such conduct amounts to a corrupt practice and calls for disqualification from contesting elections under Section 8 of the RPA Act. They also violate the Constitution of India by undermining the principles of free and fair elections and the democratic rights of citizens guaranteed under Articles 14, 19, and 21."Punjab Assembly elections are expected in 2027, with AAP seeking to retain power in the state after a weak performance in the Delhi elections earlier this year.
