Raise important issues in Parliament, mobilise maximum funds from Centre, Naidu tells TDP MPs
Addressing the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party (TDPP) meeting in the run-up to the monsoon session of Parliament beginning on July 21, Mr. Naidu said the MPs should make the best use of the time allotted to them by highlighting the issues related to the State and strive to mobilise the maximum possible amount of funds from the Centre for implementing various schemes and projects.
He also wanted the MPs to duly apprise the Parliament of the steps taken by the A.P. Government for the development of the State. The MPs should take the Central support required by the State to the notice of the nation through the Parliament.
The CM said, department-wise responsibilities were assigned to the MPs and called upon them to keep in regular touch with the Union Ministers concerned to resolve matters pertaining to the State, and to focus on garnering additional funds under schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat.
Mr. Naidu told the MPs to be updated and fully acquainted with the issues dealt by them in order to make forceful arguments on contentious matters, like he articulated the State's position on certain issues in the recent meeting with the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil and Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy.
He instructed the MPs to speak about the good work being done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to actively participate in discussions on topics like Operation Sindoor and the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, and counselled them not to interfere in unnecessary matters in their constituencies as such behaviour would tarnish their personal reputation as well as the party's.
Union Ministers K. Rammohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and IT Minister and the party's national general secretary Nara Lokesh were among those present in the deliberations.

Five jets shot down during India-Pakistan conflict, claims U.S. President Donald Trump
In a fresh claim, U.S. President Donald Trump said "five jets were shot down" during the conflict between India and Pakistan in May and repeated his assertion that the fighting ended following his intervention. The U.S. President did not specify whether the jets were lost by either of the two countries or whether he was referring to combined losses by both sides. In virtually rejecting Mr. Trump's claim of ending the conflict, New Delhi has been maintaining that the two sides halted their military actions following direct talks between their militaries without any mediation by the U.S. Speaking at the White House during a dinner he hosted for Republican senators on Friday (July 18, 2025), said: "You had India, Pakistan, that was going… in fact, planes were being shot out of the or five. But I think five jets were shot down actually…that was getting worse and worse, wasn't it? "That was looking like it was going to go, these are two serious nuclear countries, and they were hitting each other," he said. 'But India and Pakistan were going at it, and they were back and forth, and it was getting bigger and bigger. And we got it solved through trade. We said 'You guys want to make a trade deal. We're not making a trade deal if you're going to be throwing around weapons and maybe nuclear weapons. Both very powerful nuclear states,' Mr. Trump said. He said his administration achieved more in six months than almost any other administration could accomplish in eight years. "Something I'm very proud of, we stopped a lot of wars, a lot of wars. And these were serious wars,' Mr. Trump said. Since May 10, Mr. Trump has repeated his claim several times on various occasions that he 'helped settle' the tensions between India and Pakistan and that he told the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours that America will do a 'lot of trade' with them if they stopped the conflict. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure in territories controlled by Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Resistance Front (TRF), a front for Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), had claimed responsibility. The strikes triggered four days of intense clashes that ended with an understanding on stopping the military actions on May 10. The U.S. on Thursday (July 17, 2025) designated The Resistance Front as a foreign terrorist organisation. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement that the Department of State is adding The Resistance Front (TRF) as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). India welcomed the U.S. decision to designate TRF as a designated FTO and SDGT.

Waqf Board, mutawallis in dilemma over new waqf portal
The Telangana State Waqf Board (TGSWB) is awaiting instructions from the State government on how to proceed with the Urban Monitoring for Efficient and Effective Decision-making (UMEED) portal with mutawallis in a dilemma about registering on the site. According to the Union government, the portal is intended to bring about transparency in administration and would also benefit Muslim women. Waqf properties will be geo-tagged and various e-governance tools will be integrated into the system. Mutawallis are expected to upload details and documents pertaining to waqf institutions and properties. However, sources indicated that only three registrations have taken place so far. 'It is as if both we and the mutawallis are in a dilemma over UMEED,' a senior officer at the TGSWB said. 'The portal was launched on June 6. There are six months for all data to be uploaded. Over a month has passed. We have written to the State government seeking instructions on how to proceed. A response, and clarity, are awaited.' To illustrate the scale of the task, the official pointed out that, according to the First Waqf Survey, Telangana has 33,929 waqf institutions. 'The portal requires personal details, institutional data such as extent of land, encroachments if any, and the number of court cases, among other things,' he said. The portal also includes a project monitoring unit (PMU). This is likely to consist of a State government officer, a civil servant, who will oversee the uploading and updating of documents. An official connected to the district collectorate, and a representative from the State Waqf Board, most likely the Chief Executive Officer, will also be part of this unit. Meanwhile, Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri, a member of the TGSWB, expressed hope that the Telangana government would follow the example of Tamil Nadu. Its Legislative Assembly passed a resolution urging the Union government to withdraw the legislation when it was still a Bill. He also referred to West Bengal, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reportedly stated that the legislation would not be implemented. 'We are hopeful that the Telangana government will not implement the Act. As far as the Supreme Court developments go, the contentions are over waqf-by-user, the inclusion of non-Muslim members in waqf boards and the law of limitation regarding waqf properties. As for the portal, the Board has the required documents. It can help mutawallis access documents by coordinating with other State government departments and agencies. These include the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration, survey offices, and the Survey Settlements, Land Records, Settlements and Jagir Administration office, which can help mutawallis access necessary records,' Mr. Quadri said. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board opposed the portal and appealed to Muslims and waqf boards not to register properties on it till the apex court delivers its judgement. Speaking to The Hindu, AIMPLB member and spokesperson S.Q.R. Ilyas said, 'We have already prepared a petition seeking to challenge the portal. However, we are awaiting the interim order from the court after which we will seek to tag the petition.'
