Police record statements from 95 in eHati probe, await lab results
SEPANG: Police have now recorded statements from 95 individuals as part of the ongoing investigation into the eHati motivational programme.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that five more individuals were questioned recently.
The latest group includes employees of the programme, convention centre staff, and participants.
'They were called solely to record their statements,' Shazeli said during a press conference.
When asked about the 'piya' water linked to the event, he stated that police are still awaiting the Chemistry Department's report.
The case gained attention after police confirmed nudity occurred during the programme held last year in Shah Alam.
In a separate development, Shazeli addressed a housebreaking case involving a key witness in Lim Guan Eng's corruption trial.
He clarified that the incident is being treated as a criminal matter with no links to the trial.
'Based on the investigation, the threats received by the victim are typical tactics used by suspects,' he explained.
Police have recorded statements from 16 witnesses but have yet to make any arrests.
The witness was reportedly attacked by a group of 10 men who broke into his home.

Lorry driver and attendant arrested with RM13.45m contraband cigarettes
SEPANG: A lorry driver and his attendant were arrested with suspected contraband cigarettes worth RM13.45 million at the MEX Toll Plaza on the KL-Putrajaya Expressway. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the arrest of the two local men, aged 35 and 38, on August 3. The suspects were intercepted while driving a bonded Hino truck at 2.30 pm. Police discovered 566 master cases of illicit cigarettes during the vehicle inspection. Each master case contained 50 cartons of cigarettes of various brands. They may also be imprisoned for six months to five years if convicted. The two men were charged at the Sepang Magistrate's Court on August 7. Their case is set for mention on September 9. Shazeli praised the police for their commitment in combating smuggling activities. He highlighted the role of Bukit Aman's Department of Internal Security and Public Order in the operation. Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the five individuals include employees of the motivational programme, staff of the convention centre where the event took place, and programme participants. 'They were called solely to record their statements,' he said, at a press conference, here, today. When asked about the results of the 'piya' water (chocolate drink) linked to the programme, Shazeli said the police were still awaiting the report from the Chemistry Department. On July 16, the police confirmed that nudity occurred during the motivational programme, held last year at a convention centre in Shah Alam, Selangor. Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, Shazeli clarified that the housebreaking case, involving the main witness in the corruption trial of former finance minister Lim Guan Eng is being treated as a criminal matter. He said that there is no evidence linking the housebreaking to the ongoing trial. 'Based on the investigation, the threats received by the victim, such as 'don't make noise' and 'sit quietly,' are typical tactics used by suspects to gain cooperation from victims,' he explained. So far, police have recorded statements from 16 witnesses. No arrests have been made, and the case remains under investigation.
