Which celeb do you think will take the hot seat first? — Deal or No Deal Celebrity SA (@DONDCelebrityZA) June 6, 2025 After raising R2.2 million for more than 40 charity organisations across South Africa in season one, more celebrities will be on the show to change even more lives. Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, Robot Boii, Vusi Nova, Sophie Ndaba, Tswyza and Zolani Mahola are some of the celebrities that have participated in the game show. Notably, media personality Rorisang Thandekiso and TV presenter Pearl Modiadie are the only two celebrities who hit the jackpot prize and won R250,000 for their charity of choice. Thandekiso made history in 2024 and became the first person to win the ultimate jackpot for charity on the show. She generously decided to donate her winnings to Paediatric Care Africa, a non-governmental organisation that provides essential medical care to children across the country, with a special focus on remote areas where access to healthcare is scarce or non-existent. The donation funded the shipment of a 40-foot container from the UK, filled with vital medical supplies, furniture, and mobility aids. Earlier this year, Modiadie won the R250,000 grand prize for Tshepang Care Centre, a charity based in her hometown. The centre provides crucial support to vulnerable individuals and families in Thembisa, offering food assistance and social services. Located in Thembisa, the Tshepang Care Centre is situated in the Vusimuzi informal settlement, an area plagued by high unemployment rates.

Which celeb do you think will take the hot seat first? — Deal or No Deal Celebrity SA (@DONDCelebrityZA) June 6, 2025 Host Katlego Maboe himself was surprised when he was revealed as the contestant in the first season. 'Being in the hot seat of the show that I've hosted for so long was a wild, wild experience. 'First of all I had no idea that the crew and the cast were going to throw that curveball my way,' Maboe told The Citizen at the time. In cahoots with the banker, media personality Hulisani Ravele flipped the script on Maboe when the faceless money man, who always relays all his messages through Maboe, demanded to speak to the former YoTV presenter. Ravele broke the news to Maboe that the banker instructed her to run the show for this special episode, and he would be the one in the hot seat. The second season of the show will premiere on SABC 1 on Saturday at 6:00pm. ALSO READ: Katlego Maboe says being in 'Deal or No Deal Celebrity' hot seat is a 'wild, wild experience' Aiming to change more lives Maboe won R150 000 on the show and donated his winnings to Hope Cape Town, which he has supported for just over a decade. 'I've stayed with the organisation since 2014 because I've noticed that they're a group of really dedicated people who are very focused on the work that they do,' said the bubbly media personality. Hope Cape Town provides holistic services in medical treatment, care, and support to numerous marginalised communities adversely affected by HIV/Aids. The non-governmental organisation (NGO) showed appreciation to Maboe on social media. Although Maboe and other celebrities funnelled substantial amounts of cash to various NGOs, courtesy of show sponsor LottoStar, only two hit the jackpot prize of R250 000 with their ingenious gameplay and Lady Luck smiling upon them. Rorisang Thandekiso donated her winnings to a charity close to her heart, Paediatric Care Africa, while Pearl Modiadie chose the Tshepang Care Centre from her hometown, Thembisa. Paediatric Care Africa – an NGO providing general and specialist medical care to children countrywide, including secluded areas with no or limited access to doctors and hospitals – used the donation to pay for the shipping and road transport of a 40-feet container from the UK, filled with critical medical equipment, hospital furniture, walkers, wheelchairs and buggies. 'The quality of life of many children and their caregivers changed dramatically due to this export made possible by Deal or No Deal Celebrity and LottosStar,' said Joyce Cromptvoets, Head of Office at Paediatric Care Africa. For Sarah Sibiya, the founder of the Tshepang Care Centre, the quarter of a million rand from Modiadie's win is much more than a donation. 'Before we had received the money, we struggled to keep the centre going. It has brought hope, love and much-needed support to our community,' said Sibiya. LottoStar's Head of Marketing, Maria Pavli, said such stories are a reminder of the pride they have in supporting the show. 'It's a rare opportunity to be part of something that's not only entertaining but truly life-changing,' said Pavli. When bromance turns sour: the hilarious digital feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump
The budding bromance between US President Donald Trump and SA-born billionaire Elon Musk is over Image: Graphic/Se-Anne Rall Breakups can be catastrophic, and when they happen on a global stage, they morph from private heartbreaks into public spectacles. Add social media into the mix, and it's a full-blown circus. Such is the case with Elon Musk and Donald Trump, whose relationship has unravelled in a way that's equal parts cringeworthy, comedic, and political chaos. Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ Ad Loading Since Musk's exit from his government role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on May 30, the gloves have come off. And while most breakups involve a few sharp words, maybe an awkward run-in at the grocery store, this one comes with viral tweets, passive-aggressive barbs, and a nation's economic future hanging in the balance. In true breakup fashion, even the ex got involved. Ashley St. Clair, Musk's former partner and mom to their 9-month-old son Romulus, couldn't resist throwing shade. On June 5, she tweeted, 'Hey @realDonaldTrump, lmk if u need any breakup advice.' Brutal. The feud has turned into a digital slugfest, with both men dredging up old posts to prove their points. Image: screenshot/X Cue the internet to lose its collective mind. One TikTok user dubbed it the "first messy breakup of Pride Month," and another quipped, 'So bad things are happening in America?' Even St. Clair's subtle shade couldn't overshadow the drama unfolding between Musk and Trump, two men who seem hell-bent on proving that the real fireworks of 2025 will be on Twitter or 'X,' as Musk prefers to call it now. The gloves are off. Musk, who was once one of Trump's biggest allies and financial backers, didn't hold back. He blasted Trump's new spending bill, calling it a 'deficit-fueling behemoth' and accusing the president of betraying conservative principles. "Without me, Trump would have lost the election," Musk declared on X, adding, 'Such ingratitude.' Trump, never one to let a perceived slight slide, fired back on his own platform, Truth Social. He claimed Musk's departure wasn't as amicable as it seemed. 'Elon was wearing thin,' Trump wrote, accusing Musk of 'going crazy' after learning the electric vehicle mandate was being cut. Elon: I got Trump elected Trump: I asked Elon to leave and maybe I'll take away his government contracts Elon: Trump is in the Epstein files — Stephen Sanchez (@SSanchezTV) June 5, 2025 The president of the United States of America even brought Musk's beloved EVs into the mix. "I took away his EV mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted," Trump said, painting Musk as a scorned ex who just couldn't let go. Social media is the new battlefield. The feud has turned into a digital slugfest, with both men dredging up old posts to prove their points. Image: screenshot/tiktok Musk reposted Trump's 2013 tweet criticising Republicans for raising the debt ceiling, sarcastically commenting, 'Wise words.' He even questioned whether the current Trump is a 'body double,' wondering what happened to the man who once championed balanced budgets. Trump, on the other hand, accused Musk of changing his position only after his EV interests were threatened, claiming, "Elon knew this bill inside out and had no problem with it until it hit his bottom line." hey @realDonaldTrump lmk if u need any breakup advice — Ashley St. Clair (@stclairashley) June 5, 2025 If their exchanges seem petty, that's because they are. But the stakes are anything but small. Behind the snarky tweets and veiled insults lies a growing divide over America's economic strategy, with Musk railing against what he sees as reckless spending and Trump doubling down on his legislative agenda. But in reality, this isn't just tabloid fodder, it's a messy clash of egos with real political consequences. For now, the fallout continues to unfold in real-time. Musk has made it clear he's not backing down, calling Trump's policies 'a disgusting abomination.' Meanwhile, Trump has hinted that Musk's attacks are only going to escalate, saying, 'I don't know if we will [have a great relationship] anymore.'
