Justin Bieber and Scooter Braun Allegedly Hit ‘Breaking Point' After $8M ‘Justice Tour' Debt: Doc
Justin Bieber and former music manager Scooter Braun's once-tight bond allegedly hit a 'breaking point' after the singer's shortened Justice World Tour.
Bieber, 31, performed a handful of concerts in 2022 before abruptly canceling the remaining dates for medical reasons. He was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome that same year.
'Scooter's camp has told us that he just thinks Justin wanted to go home,' TMZ executive producer Don Nash claimed in the network's TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber? documentary that aired on Fox and is currently streaming on Hulu. 'He was tired, he wanted to spend more time with [his wife], Hailey [Bieber], he wanted to go on vacation, and he wanted to live his life without going on tour.'
Sources close to Justin, however, told the outlet that the singer was 'set up for failure' from the start of the production. The TMZ team also alleged that tour promoter AEG paid Justin a $40 million advance to perform his biggest hits. (Neither Justin nor Braun, 43, has addressed the documentary's claims or spoken publicly about why they parted ways. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.)
Scooter Braun's Ups and Downs Over the Years: Taylor Swift Feud, Divorce, Client Drama and More
'When Justin cancels the tour, AEG says, 'Hey, you owe us $24 million,'' Harvey Levin said in the doc. 'Justin's like, 'I don't have the money.' And so, Scooter's company, HYBE, they say, 'Look, we'll assume this debt and pay it off for you, Justin.''
Levin further claimed that Justin 'signed a note,' agreeing to repay Braun $24 million over a 10-year period.
'He makes one payment, and this is where the conflict starts,' Levin said. 'We're told from Scooter's side that Justin's people called and said, 'He doesn't have the money anymore,' and he's never paid another payment.'
Levin also alleged that Justin's business manager 'did some digging' and found that Braun was 'way overpaying commissions.' Braun then ordered an internal audit of HYBE, which reportedly discovered that the 'Peaches' singer actually owes Braun $1 million. When Justin rebuffed the claims, Braun hired external firm Price Waterhouse to complete its own audit that revealed Justin owed $8 million.

TMZ claimed that Justin wasn't pleased with the external audit and subsequently conducted his own investigation. The findings have not been publicly shared.
'By the way, if Justin had finished that tour, he would have made $90 million,' Nash added in the doc.
Braun was the manager credited with discovering Justin on YouTube back in the early 2000s. Us Weekly confirmed in August 2023 that Justin 'officially let [Braun] go.'
According to the insider, Hailey, 28, "led the charge that led Justin to leave him for another manager.'
A second source, meanwhile, told Us that same month that Justin and Braun didn't have any 'bad blood.'
'Scooter created Justin for who he is. It's just a time and place to move on,' the second insider said at the time. 'Scooter used to be hands-on. He was doing [everything] behind the scenes for all his clients. He's lost sight of the drive. It was noticeable.'
TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber? is currently streaming on Hulu.

Ed Gale, Actor Who Played 'Chucky' In 3 Films, Dead At 61
Ed Gale, an actor and stuntman who was most famous for being the physical performer of Chucky, the evil doll that was the namesake of the Chucky horror franchise, died earlier this week at the age of 61. His niece, Kayse Gale, announced his death Tuesday on Facebook. The cause of death was not revealed. TMZ reported that the actor died while in hospice. Kayse Gale celebrated her uncle, who was born with dwarfism, by cheekily beginning her post, 'It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle.' Kayse Gale also noted that Ed Gale ventured out to Hollywood when he was 20 with only $41 in his pocket, but ended up lighting up the silver screen in cult classic films like 1986's 'Howard the Duck' and 1989's 'Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town.' She said appearing in cult films earned Ed Gale 'some serious street cred at every con he attended' and added, 'which he never stopped bragging about. Ever.' TMZ said that at the time of Gale's death, he was under investigation for allegedly attempting to solicit sex from minor boys. People noted that Gale admitted to soliciting minors for sex to a group called Creep Catchers Unit in April 2023. The LA County District Attorney's office told the publication that one case was referred to the LA City Attorney's Office in September 2023 for a possible misdemeanor filing. Ed Gale's first big role in Hollywood was wearing the suit for the title character in 'Howard the Duck,' while actor Chip Zien supplied the character's voice. He did a similar split role in 1988's 'Child's Play,' the film that first introduced the now-iconic Chucky character to film fans. He worked the costume while actor Brad Dourif supplied the voice. His role in the series helped define the character, 'Child's Play' director Tom Holland told People. 'Ed was a pleasure to work with on 'Child's Play' and played an important role in helping me sell the action of Chucky and thus a reason to fear Chucky,' Holland said. 'Ed was always ready to go when I called action.' Ed Gale went on to play Chucky in two other films in the franchise. and also appeared in films and TV shows like 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?,' 'Baywatch,' '3rd Rock From the Sun,' 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey' and 'Friday the 13th: The Series.' His last acting role was portraying an artist in the 2020 film 'Pandemonic,' and he also was interviewed for a 2022 science fiction documentary, 'In Search of Tomorrow.'

Kevin Costner's Lawyer Releases Text to Counter Harassment Claim
Kevin Costner's team is responding to a major accusation. The actor's lawyer has released a text message to counter a lawsuit lodged by a stunt performer. Devyn LaBella, who worked on Costner's film Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter Two, has filed a lawsuit accusing him of "sexual discrimination, harassment, and the creation of a hostile work environment," according to the New York Post. The claims center around an accusation that LaBella was subjected to a "violent unscripted, unscheduled rape scene,' while Costner was directing the movie in 2023, the Post reported. However, his team has released text messages in response, arguing they have 'absolutely no merit," The Post reported. Costner's lawyer Marty Singer told the Hollywood Reporter that Costner 'always wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable working on his films and takes safety on set very seriously.' Singer told THR that LaBella "was in good spirits and made no complaints' at dinner the next night and sent stunt coordinator Wade Allen a text stating, 'Thank you for these wonderful weeks!' That text "was a cordial thank you text illustrated with happy heart emojis," the lawyer said, according to The Post. According to TMZ, LaBella has also worked on the productions Barbie and American Horror Story. LaBella is claiming "there was no contractually mandated intimacy coordinator present" on set when the scene was filmed and accused Costner of being very "hands on" and "either involved in or fully aware of every single thing going on," according to TMZ. According to TMZ, LaBella's suit claims she "began therapy to address symptoms stemming from her traumatic experience on the set of Horizon 2, including intrusive distressing memories of the traumatic event, sleep disturbance, fears of intimacy, and anxiety, among others." Tory Lanez's Attacker Breaks His Silence After Leaked Footage Of the Stabbing Goes Viral
Just when the dust was beginning to settle for Tory Lanez following discussions on whether he should seek a retrial in his case, the plot continues to twist. An inmate has come forward claiming responsibility for the Toronto rapper's recent stabbing, even claiming that there is a rumored bounty on his life. Previously reported by The Root, the 'Say It' artist was attacked on May 12 at the California Correctional Center. According to reports, Santino Casio, an inmate who is already serving a life sentence for an unrelated offense, shared with TMZ that he stabbed Lanez 14 times after hearing rumors that there was a 'bounty on his head.' Footage of the attack has since been leaked. Casio, who was in the neighboring cell, claimed that he heard rumors through other inmates that there was a bounty on Tory's life. After the two men had a verbal exchange, Casio claims he thought his life was in danger when he saw a suspicious bulge in his pocket. 'What he showed me, to me, looked like a weapon at the time,' Casio reflected. 'So I rushed him, and I just snatched him…I took advantage of him. I threw him all over. I kept slamming him and stabbing him.' Although Casio claims that he had no intention of killing Tory, he alleges that he was acting in self-defense after being stabbed in the leg. He emphasized that the whole situation was unexpected because he and Lanez had a decent relationship in prison. 'Yea, we were cool,' Casio said. 'We were chill. We ate, we drank, we partied, we kicked it! Yeah, we were good.' However, Casio said he does not regret what he did. Aside from being remorseful for the incident, he said he's not giving an apology. Tory sustained several injuries, including seven stab wounds to the back, four to the torso, two to the back of the head, and one across the face. Both of his lungs collapsed as a result of the attack. Born Daystar Peterson, Tory was convicted in 2022 for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a heated argument in July 2020. He is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. Despite ongoing claims of new evidence in the case, there is no word on whether Tory's conviction will be overturned.
