The biggest stars in the WNBA are squaring off in tonight's WNBA All-Star Game.
The All-Star Weekend got started with last night's skills challenge and 3-point contest, which the New York Liberty swept. Sabrina Ionescu scored 30 points to win the 3-point contest, while Natasha Cloud beat Erica Wheeler by 1.1 seconds to win the skills challenge (and promised her partner and Liberty teammate Isabelle Harrison a house with the winnings).
Now, 25 All-Stars will face off in the All-Star Game at 8:30 p.m. ET tonight. Minnesota's Napheesa Collier and Indiana's Caitlin Clark will serve as team captains, though Clark will not play due to a groin injury sustained earlier this week.
Ionescu and Breanna Stewart will be on hand to represent the Liberty; other players include 2025 No. 1 draft pick Paige Bueckers and A'ja Wilson.

Florida center Jake Slaughter named to ESPN's preseason college football All-America team

The start of the 2025 college football campaign is right around the corner, and ahead of the opening kickoff, ESPN released its preseason All-America team, which featured a member of the Florida Gators. Center Jake Slaughter, a redshirt senior out of Sparr, Florida, made the list for the second-straight year, joining four others who were featured on last year's list. He is the only member of the Orange and Blue to earn the honor. "When Slaughter announced that he was returning for his senior season, it was huge news for the Gators' offensive line and a huge boost for coach Billy Napier," college football reporter Chris Low begins. "The 6-4, 303-pound Slaughter makes life easier for quarterback DJ Lagway and is a steadying force for the offense. Slaughter played 800 snaps last season, and his experience, versatility and toughness will serve the Gators well in 2025." Jake Slaughter's 2024 stats Slaughter started all 13 games in 2024, amassing a mountain of awards, including the AP All-SEC First-Team, ESPN All-American, PFF All-American First-Team, 247Sports/CBS All-American Second-Team, CFN All-American Second-Team, Phil Steel All-American Fourth-Team and USA TODAY Sports All-SEC First-Team. He was ranked fifth nationally among centers last year with an offense grade of 81.1, while ranking seventh in the country with a run block grade of 79.0. He also led the team in PFF offense, pass-block and run-block grades, as well as the offensive line as a whole in 800 snaps played. New Coach in Spain: Montse Tomé Out After Runner-Up Finish at Women's Euro

Spain New Coach in Spain: Montse Tomé Out After Runner-Up Finish at Women's Euro Published Aug. 11, 2025 12:05 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Spain's women's national team is making a coaching change two weeks after reaching the final of the 2025 UEFA Women's Euro. Montse Tomé will not have her contract renewed and will be replaced by former player Sonia Bermúdez, the Spanish soccer federation said Monday. Another former Spain player, Iraia Iturregi, was named the team's second coach. The decision was made by the federation's board members after Tomé led Spain to the Euro 2025 final, which it lost to England in a penalty shootout on July 27. "The board of directors would like to express its gratitude for Montse Tomé's work, professionalism and dedication in her various roles during her time as a member of the national teams at the Spanish soccer federation, particularly during her time as national team coach," the federation said. Tomé replaced former coach Jorge Vilda following the team's World Cup title in 2023. She led Spain to the title of the inaugural Women's Nations League in 2024. Her current contract with the national team was valid until the end of the month. Tomé was the first woman to coach the senior women's team in Spain. She had been an assistant to Vilda during the World Cup and was promoted in the fallout of former federation president Luis Rubiales' nonconsensual kiss of player Jenni Hermoso during the World Cup's awards ceremony in Australia. Spain has enjoyed some peace and stability since Rubiales was convicted of sexual assault for the kiss that ignited one of the worst crises in Spanish soccer. The outrage surrounding the scandal led to widespread changes and improved conditions for the women's national team. Spanish society called for more support for women, and sports officials ultimately were forced to review outdated protocols related to the women's squad. ADVERTISEMENT Bermúdez was a Spain captain — with 63 appearances and 35 goals internationally — and also played for Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, among other clubs. She retired as a player in 2020, and her first job as a coach was with a Real Madrid youth team. Bermúdez had been coaching the youth squads of Spain's national team. She was currently with the under-23 squad. The board that made the decision was composed of 30 members, half of them women. Spain's next match is in October in the semifinals of the Nations League.
