Flight Attendants Are Revealing The Worst Things They've Ever Witnessed On The Job, And It's Even Worse Than I Imagined, TBH

Yahoo10 hours ago

IDK about you, but I am very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY much not a fan of the airport...or planes...or being in the sky in general. So, needless to say, I have a lot of respect for people who spend most of their days working on planes, tending to entitled customers, and all around living my actual nightmare.
Well, Reddit user TwistedHumorX recently asked cabin crew members to share the worst, weirdest, and "most WTF" things they've ever witnessed on the job. Y'all...I fear these stories have only validated my fears and confirmed that flight attendants are perhaps some of the strongest people in the world. So, without further ado, here are 23 shocking and occasionally disturbing stories they shared:
Stories have also been sourced from this similar thread.
1."We found poop in the toilet sink. Sometimes it's pee sloshing around because people don't know the sink has to be drained, aside from the fact that it is a sink and not a toilet bowl. Also, some men insisted they needed a sanitary napkin, just because they saw a woman receive it from me. They thought I was giving out amenities and felt they also had a right to receive whatever the lady got. So, fine, I gave them some. The next time I passed by, they had the pads stuck to their eyes. They thought they were eyeshades."

2."My girlfriend is cabin crew. There are two main stories she tells. The first one is a passenger who mixed sleeping pills and alcohol, this caused the passenger to freak out and attack another passenger. The other involves a passenger who didn't have his belt over his blanket when the fasten seat belt sign was lit. He looked asleep and didn't respond to the crew when they tried to wake him, so they had to move the blanket to check. Turns out he was masturbating."
—BudPrager
3."My father was a pilot and my mother was a flight attendant. I've always said my mom should write a book. In the 1960s, my mom's route was LA–NY and back (first class cabin), so it always had a famous person or two. Actors were always the worst for her. Most notably, she said she was manhandled by Robert Goulet, who then proceeded to tell the whole plane that he had sex with her (which didn't happen). After my mom asked Lucille Ball what she would like to drink, Lucille Ball replied, 'I don't talk to servants.'"
"Johnny Carson was also an a-hole to flight attendants, she said. He would put a sign on his seat that read, 'Yes, I am him, no I don't want a drink.' My mom also said that musicians were always the most kind. Her favorites were Jim Morrison and The Mamas & the Papas. She always said that if they seemed nice on TV, they usually weren't. And those who had the worst reputations were usually the nicest."
—3Gilligans
4."A passenger asked me for a Coke while I was actively performing CPR on someone."
—slytherin9351
5."I fly for a low-cost carrier in Europe. I've got loads of stories of people leaving weird or random stuff behind, but the one that sticks out the most is a fake leg. We were aware of a passenger with a prosthetic leg as PRM agents brought him on board with an ambulift, but we never thought he could leave his leg behind."
—pxngwxn
6."Before I became a flight attendant, I worked in customer service and as a ramp agent at my station. We were the regional for a larger carrier, so we did a lot of things ourselves, like catering, taking care of missed baggage, and even having our own lost and found. Well, one day, I was watching the lost and found desk and one of our gate agents came in with a laptop. She said she found it at an empty gate, so I had no flight information to go off of. The laptop had no stickers or other identifying information on it, so I thought to myself, 'Hmm, I bet if I open it, it will have a lock screen with the owner's name.' So I opened it. But the laptop didn't open to the lock screen, it opened to the tab the owner had been viewing, which was a porn site."
"It had a video paused mid-fisting scene. I immediately slammed the laptop shut, and since then, I have never, ever, ever opened someone else's laptop."
—Sure-Telephone3130
7."My aunt said that on one flight on Thanksgiving, they were serving turkey to the first-class customers (back when they still served food). As they brought the turkey out and were about to start serving the people, they hit some turbulence and the turkey fell on the ground. It was the only turkey they had, so she simply picked it up and walked to the back 'to get a new one.' In reality, she just dusted it off and brought the same one back."
"She said that instances like this actually happened quite often, and they were almost instructed to know that if something like this did happen, don't panic. Just walk to the back and act like you have another one. Her words: 'You'd be amazed how many first-class customers have eaten food that has fallen on the floor.'"
—None
8."A customer pooped in their drink cup and left it on the galley counter. Said she didn't want to wait for the bathroom, and that she 'took care of it' at her seat. I almost lost it."
—coolasssheeka
9."One time, I was picking up trash and recycling, and a man handed me a porno magazine. X-rated. Just unabashedly gave it to me. I was shocked when I looked down, not because he gave it to me, but because he must've thought it was appropriate reading material for a public place and had finished it during the flight!"
—fallingfaster345
10."A while back, I (pilot) was collecting an aircraft and asked the inbound crew how their flight down was. She responded that it was pretty normal except she had to reprimand a couple for licking each other's nipples. She didn't even seem that fazed by it."
—dunmif_sys
11."My friend is an airline attendant, and she said the worst thing she ever found on a plane was a bloody dildo. Don't want to know where or when it was used, but needless to say, they all walked on by and notified the cleaners they'd need a biohazard bag. And what's worse...they found the blood first."
—brazenxbull
12."An older gentleman, probably in his late 60s to early 70s, boarded the plane and told me he had bathroom issues. I was working the aft galley and he sat in the very last row. I assumed he meant he had bladder issues and had to pee frequently, so I didn't really pay any attention. Just before we went into sterile flight on the descent, he got up as quickly as a man of his age could and rushed to the lavatory. He did his business and sat back down."
"Without checking, I locked the lav as I'm required to on my A/C before takeoff and before landing. As we deplaned, he got up and looked back at me and said, 'I'm so sorry.' He got his things and deplaned. At the time of his apology, I didn't think anything of it.
Fast-forward 10 minutes later, and I had to go pee. I opened the door, and what was on the ground? A shit the size of a small guinea pig. Like a log of shit. A healthy 70-year-old shit. Sitting right there, looking at me.
Called for bio and went for a walk in the terminal because at this point in my career, I've officially seen it all."
—thebooradleyproject
13."We had a passenger come up to us mid-red eye flight from Reno to Dallas. Another passenger had peed in the aisle right next to her. Like, stood up, walked 15 feet, and peed. Police met the plane, and he had no idea what happened, nor did his wife."
—jermeyfries
14."A friend of mine who used to work as a flight attendant walked in to clean the cabin and found a used condom on the floor near the last row. Apparently, someone thought the plane was a love hotel, and I guess they joined the mile-high club and just left the receipt."
—Powerful_Increase222
15."My father worked for an airline for over 30 years and shared this story with me based on one of his colleagues' experiences. On a flight from JFK to Heathrow post-9/11, while the plane was about fourth or fifth in line for takeoff, an American lady demanded to be let off the plane. The attendant naturally refused since the doors were closed, and they were almost at the runway. The lady went nuts and called 911 from her cellphone and said she was an American citizen being held against her will on a foreign airline, and — as they were about to take off — she was going to be taken to another country."
"About three or four minutes later, police and FBI vans surrounded the plane, pulled her out, and grounded the flight pending further investigation. In the end, she was just a nutjob who ruined everyone's flight."
—f-mttm
16."I was a flight attendant for five years. I have enough wild stories to write a book, maybe two. I've been punched in the face, propositioned, witnessed multiple couples try to get it on in the seats, had one couple try to do it in the galley, had my butt pinched, watched arguments break out over seats being reclined, been told the quality of ginger ale I serve is not of a high enough caliber, seen bare feet on bulkhead walls at face level, had someone try to stow their luggage on my jump seat shortly before landing, and had trash dumped on my food tray while I was still eating from it."
—ShinyCupcake
17."Former flight attendant. I found a sick bag full of piss in a seat back once."
—HallnOatmeal
18."I found poop on a chair. Figured out it was an older gentleman. We tried to see if he had another flight so we could let him know, but unfortunately (fortunately?), he only had our flight. Poor guy had no idea."
—lonlypussykat
19."My mom was a flight attendant. One time, lightning struck the plane she was in and the engine just shit the bed for a few seconds (which, of course, felt like an eternity). The lights went out, cabin pressure dropped, and the little ceiling bags popped out. The plane dropped in altitude very rapidly, and then...it was over and everything went back to normal. Flight attendants deserve serious props! They have to think quickly, act accordingly, and stay calm in situations like that."
—robotdick
20."Quoting my older sister's fiancé (he's a first officer pilot): 'There have been three butt plugs found thus far for my trip from NYC to Miami, and I don't know why.'"
—Cheetodude625
21."I used to work for an airline, which meant I got to fly for free as a standby passenger. This is called 'non-revving' (non-revenue passenger). So this one day, I was taking a flight to New York as a non-rev, and there was a girl from our airline who worked as a gate agent on there with a bunch of her friends. Non-revving is a delicate thing sometimes — there are a lot of rules that the airline makes you follow so you don't tarnish their image. I almost got denied entry once because I wasn't wearing dress shoes. These girls boarded and immediately started acting up."
"It was warm in the plane, so clearly, the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) hadn't been connected to allow the plane power to run the AC. As soon as the APU was connected and activated, the AC was turned on, and something started blowing out the vents. At this point, the plane was fully boarded and people were putting their things in the overheads. What looked like steam or dust or mist or something started coming out the AC vents, and one of the girl's friends decided to shout (jokingly) 'FIRE! THERE'S A FIRE ON THE PLANE!' ON A FULLY...BOARDED...FLIGHT.
Needless to say, the flight attendants did not find this hilarious, and they were all escorted off."
—PineconeShuff
22."A passenger changed their baby's diaper on their tray table. 🤢"
—isthisreallymylife-
23.And finally, "I got upgraded on a two-hour flight a while back. I was sitting across the aisle from a mom and her two young sons when I heard, 'Mom, I have to go poop.' Keep in mind we were, like, eight rows from the closest bathroom. But nah, instead of escorting her child to the bathroom, she had him stand up in between the seat and the seat back in front of him while she cupped her hands under his ass. That kid shit into her hands. Why."

Breathtaking Bucket List Campsites Across The U.S.

Camping and hiking in Yosemite National Park is a bucket list adventure you'll never forget. Preparing for a camping adventure, no matter what the season or who tags along, doesn't have to be an arduous or burdensome undertaking. Whether you're aiming for a solo outdoor adventure, quality time with little ones, or a multigenerational romp in nature, we've got you covered with not only where to go for the best campsites across the country, but also, the details on how to lock in a coveted reservation as well as what you can expect once you arrive. The following destinations, campsites, and trails are bucket list quests for many hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. It's best to plan ahead. Camping in Yosemite National Park is an intrepid adventure. Perhaps you've dreamed of thru-hiking and you've had the Pacific Crest Trail or the John Muir Trail on your radar, however, you don't have several weeks or months that you can take out of your busy schedule for a long-distance backpacking adventure. The good news, for intrepid and fit hikers, is that you can tackle a big trek, with plenty of elevation gain, over a weekend in Yosemite National Park. Most of the popular Yosemite Valley sits within a no-camping zone, so you'll have to hit the trails and hike in at least a few miles, with thousands of feet of possible elevation gain, to reach your camping spot. Of course, this is also where the big views are! The most important thing you should know is that reservations are required for lodging, camping, and backpacking in Yosemite National Park from May 24—September 1. Choose from 13 different campgrounds and reserve your spot as soon as possible on Expect the summer months to be the most busy; if you have the time, plan to camp in the shoulder seasons. Hiking to the top of Half Dome is a bucket list adventure for many, but you'll need a permit if you want to go. Apply for a wilderness permit that includes Half Dome, which will allow you to camp in Little Yosemite Valley, or at another spot along the way. Half Dome Trail is a strenuous 14—16-mile hike, with 4,800 feet of elevation gain. Your efforts will be rewarded in spades, however, as you'll see Vernal and Nevada Falls, Liberty Cap, Half Dome, and stellar panoramic views of Yosemite Valley. Begin from either Happy Isles or Curry Village or from a nearby campground—Upper, Lower, and North Pines Campgrounds are the closest and most desired. Death Valley National Park has some of the most beautiful and remote camping spots in the entire national park system. For a multi-night adventure in the lowest, driest, hottest national park, a park that is a designated gold-tier Dark Sky Park, look no further than Death Valley National Park. You can expect to encounter rugged terrain, skies full of stars and planets, nights so quiet that they seem 'loud', and wild horses. Yes, wild horses! Given that the backcountry is so remote, with few other backpackers on the trail, it might be a good idea to enlist a professional guide. Wildland Trekking leads tours throughout this weathered landscape that straddles the border between California and Nevada. Planning well ahead to ensure your spot, choose the Death Valley Classic Backpack, which operates from January—March. This otherworldly trail in the land of extremes twists through Death Valley's backcountry for nearly 30 miles. For three nights, you'll sleep under the darkest and most beautiful skies, while listening a nearby creek. The trail requires a fair amount of bushwhacking, steep climbs, and snaking ambles through multi-hued canyons. You'll carry everything you need and nothing that you don't on your back and your own two feet will get you to the looped finish line. It's an incredibly rewarding feeling to challenge your body and your mind on this adventure. Each campsite is remote and private, giving you ample opportunity to reconnect with yourself and the world around in a peaceful, undisturbed environment. Views and diverse terrain abound in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Exposing children to the outdoors is something you'll always be proud of as a parent. A fantastic park that offers plenty of day hikes for all levels is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Keep eyes peeled for a plethora of wildlife like black bears, over 200 different species of birds, deer, and salamanders. Permits are required for overnight backcountry stays and tags are essential for parking. Be sure to operate with Leave No Trace principles and stay bear award during the high activity months of May—August, hanging your food and smelly items on the cable system. is your go-to resource for booking camping sites in the park and nearby—choose from 30 different options. Also, it's worth noting, there are tons of family-friendly activities and fun happenings in the nearby Tennessee towns of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. From mini-golf to Dollywood to Anakeesta, a mountain top adventure park, there's plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Hiking opportunities abound, with trails open every month of the year. Hike Charlies Bunion, Alum Cave Bluffs, Andrews Bald Rainbow Falls, or Chimney Tops—all offering the beautiful sights and sounds of nature with waterfalls, old-growth forests, or bird's-eye mountain views. Children new to hiking will love the four-mile-roundtrip Kephart Prong Trail, which highlights the Civilian Conservation Corps' history as well as the logging industry. An easy two miles to the trail shelter, this hike has fun features like log bridges and evidence of an old fish hatchery that was built in 1936. If kids love the trails and the outdoors, they'll want to protect wild spaces for years to come.

As of today, Capital One has officially opened its largest lounge yet at JFK, joining its growing portfolio of airport lounges in Denver (DEN), Washington Dulles (IAD) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). As a Queens native and lifelong New Yorker, I was especially eager to see how the brand would capture the energy of New York. After touring the lounge and indulging in a few too many bagels, locally brewed beers and a charcuterie board curated by an in-house cheesemonger, I can confidently say Capital One understood the assignment. The new lounge is a sophisticated, food-centric escape from the chaos of both the terminal and the city — the kind of place that might just make you hope for a flight delay. Here's how to get in and what to expect once you're inside. To access Capital One Lounges, you'll need to hold a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Business, which currently include access for the primary cardholder and up to two guests. But starting February 1, 2026, free guest access will require $75,000 in annual card spend or guests will have to pay $35.
