Tragedy as two people die after falling in Sydney CBD
A man and woman have died after falling from the Western Distributor leading to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as motorists are advised to avoid the area. Emergency services rushed to Harbour Street in the Sydney CBD about 9.45am on Saturday to find the man and woman dead. It is understood the pair, believed to be in their 40s, fell from the Western Distributor overpass onto the street. Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Bystanders administered CPR, but the man and woman died before paramedics could arrive. Multiple emergency vehicles, including police and paramedics remain on scene. The two southbound lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge are currently closed. Traffic is being diverted to the Anzac Bridge. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area. Drivers appear to be able to use the Cahill Expressway lane on the bridge. 'Motorists can detour via the city by using Grosvenor St, Bridge St, and Macquarie St for access to the Eastern Suburbs and airport,' LiveTraffic advised. 'Police are urging anyone with information about the matter – or was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Day Street Police Station or Crime Stoppers,' a NSW Police spokesman said.

Brazen thieves target footy legend's luxury car in broad daylight - leaving his young family 'rattled'
Footy legend Trent Cotchin and his family remain in disbelief after they were victims of a daylight robbery. The triple-premiership captain with Richmond and Brownlow Medallist had numerous items stolen from his Mercedes outside his Moonee Ponds home, in Melbourne's north-west, on Thursday. His wife Brooke later posted security footage of a car pulling up in front of their house around 6pm. A hooded thief can be seen hovering over Cotchin's car - which was unlocked - before opening the door and helping himself to a wallet, including an Amex card. Cotchin has confirmed multiple transactions were made on the card before it was locked. Victoria Police were then spotted at Cotchin's house on Friday morning taking statements. She added her family were left 'rattled' by the incident. Cotchin retired at the end of 2023 following a brilliant career with the Tigers, which included flags in 2017, 2019 and 2020. He captained the team to all three premierships, and also snared three best and fairest gongs at Punt Road during his storied 306-game career. Away from footy, Cotchin was recently mortified when he appeared on Channel Seven's Dancing With The Stars. While he impressed when performing a Cha Cha with Jess Raffa, the decorated midfielder was left with a questionable red lipstick mark on his crotch. It was all good natured, with Cotchin admitting it was 'extremely awkward' before playfully asking host Sonia Kruger to 'move on' when questioned about the stain. Dancing With The Stars fans previously noted Cotchin had been a little hesitant to dance with Raffa during early days of the show. Many felt the footy star didn't feel comfortable dancing with another woman who was not his wife and childhood sweetheart, Brooke.
